American IPA |  4.00% ABV

Availability: Rotating. on-tap (4)

Notes:
The inspiration for this beer was to brew a nice 'session IPA'. We've basically achieved this by taking a standard American IPA and 'brewing it out' to about half the stats. Dry-hopped with Willamette, Mt. Hood and Cascade hops. ABV- 4.0%, IBU's- 25, OG - 10.5 Plat

A: Dark gold pour, fluffy head, good lacing.
S: Citrus hops, grassy, some malt
T: Grapefruit, decent enough malt backbone.
M: Light, refreshing
D: Awesome at 4%, could easily mistake this for a 7%+ IPA. Can't wait to try this during the 100 degree summers in St. Louis.

Sampled at UCB and out of a growler. Poured into taster.

A - Pours a copper color, white fizzy head, thin collar, thin cap.

S - Light to medium level of hoppy bitterness, more malts thin I expected. Very crisp, light, and refreshing but needs a bit more hops for me to throughly enjoy.

T - Light hops, more malts then I like in my IPA's, bready/biscuit notes. I know this is a "session IPA" but why not just make an APA instead?

M - Light, crisp and refreshing, super-easy to drink.

O - A decent IPA, and while this is billed as a session IPA, I would like more hops and less malts if you're going to do something like this. My least favorite hoppy offering from UCB, but still, not all that bad.

Poured into a pint glass at The Royale. They had just tapped it.

A - Pours a beautiful hazy sloghtly orange copper. Very nice looking beer. There is a nice off-white head about 0.5 inch tall that is quite stikcy and hangs out for a while.

S - Grassy and refreshing mild hop notes. There is a delicious biscuit bready and toasty malt aroma. Very enticing yet mild.

T & M - Starts off with a very nice malty and freshly baked bread malt backbone. Hints of slight grassy hops that add a refreshing undertone. True to the name of a Session IPA. Excellent for warm days. Flavors are well crafted yet not complex. The hops have a nice slightly citrusy finish that vaguely reminds you its an IPA. Delicious in its simplicity. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing.

O - Great brew. Awesome mild but well crafted flavors. More beers like this need to be crafted. Easy to drink and delicious.

A- Pours a hazy mid-golden color. Abundant head. Very good head retention and lacing.

S- Muted smell of citrus, could be because of the beers temp (cold!).

T- Very citrusy, on the lemon end. Well balanced. Surprised at the low ABV.

M- Crisp carbonation. Medium mouthfeel.

D/O- Very refreshing on a 100 degree STL day. The low ABV means you can drink more! Congrats to the newer Urban Chestnut Brewing Company for this winner of an easy drinking IPA.
