I don’t think I have come across this type of grain in a beer. 500ml Buegelflasche. Mindestens haltbar bis: 18.10.2011.
It pours an immensely cloudy brown. More sediment than I think I have ever seen. Lots of it clumps up in big black masses on the bottom of my mug. The head is foamy and off-white and leaves some nice lacing as it recedes.
The smell is half bread and half lemon. an interesting but decently pleasant pairing.
It is decenlty tasty. It is a bit watery, but also thick. The roastier flavor reminds me or a dunkelweizen, though the yeast presence is not there. There is some citrus but that is it.
Overall an interesting beer.

From the usual german fair this beer is quite a treat. The beer is very smooth and almost too drinkable. Which may be due to a slight under carbonation.
It looks like a lovely dark weizen and the taste goes in a similar direction except for the Emmer overtones. Taste wise it very much resembles a wheat beer, but has enough of an Emmer taste to seperate itself. I could not find any discernible flaws in the beer and it had its own distinct (but very enjoyable) flavor.
overall a delicious beer.

Dark amber - chestnut color. A beautiful beige creamy head. Lightly veiled.
In the smell cereals, spelt. A good amount of it. Malty notes, full.
Full taste, malty, cereals and bodied. Intense, with a good biscuit, too.
Maybe a bit too sweet, but essentially not unbalanced.
Average body.
Quite long aftertaste, malty-biscuity.
A good cereals beer.

500 ml bottle from Berlin
Pours murky copper with dense two finger tan head that slowly fades, patchy downsliding lacing. Aroma is mild sweetish malt, caramel.
Taste is clean mild malt, caramel, light roasty, hints of apple and some other fruit I am not able to identify. Mouthfeel is smooth medium with weak alcohol warming sensation.
Overall, I enjoyed this beer a lot. The taste is quite unusual, but very pleasant. I wish I had several more bottles of it.

Malty aroma with a good sized dose of caramel and a bit of fruit (apples and apricots). Fine, cream colored head leaves a short sheet of lace. Hazy, almost murky, chestnut colored beer. Carbonation in the beer is very fine, and the mouthfeel is surprisingly light. Very light malt base with cocoa and toffee along with some apple flavors towards the finish. Finishes pretty clean. From the apple aroma/flavors I would guess that this beer is either fermented a little warm or possibly that there is a slight infection. I don't mind the apple and I think that it actually adds to the drinkability. I'll be keeping an eye out for more of this beer.

The Riedenburger team was present at a little street Fest in Kelheim, and I was able to quaff a couple of 0.5l bottles of this naturtrüb bier. It is made with a variety of grains, all of which were once used in the middle ages: emmer, barley, einkorn, spelt and wheat. I have no clue as to what style to place this in. I suspect it should be an ale, since that was what was likely brewed hundreds of years ago, yet we don't currently have an appropriate style under German ales. The ingredients used are all organic, as well.
Emmerbier pours a cloudy, creamy chestnut hue, with a solid 1/2" rocky beige head. Lacing in the glass is quite nice! Has a mild nose, with roasty, toffee aspects. Medium body fits the bill on this bier, and it has a low carbo level, leaving little prickliness on the tongue. Fairly smooth, in general.
Starts with a mild chocolate and caramel lean to it. Also has a soft toffeeish character, and makes me think this is what a bier milkshake would be like. Taste of a fudge sundae lingers, with little to no bitterness. Goes down very nicely; it really grew on me the more I quaffed.
Prosit!!
