.33L bottle purchased in Bavaria and served in a wine glass in Innsbruck.
Pours a clear mahogany with an off-white head that has OK retention but leaves little lacing.
The aroma is malty and appealing, with a bit of alcohol and fruit contributing nicely to the appeal. Fine mouthfeel with medium body and carbonation, and a creamy smooth texture.
The taste [4.25] is quite fine, if not quite as complex as one might wish, it is exceptionally nutty and plenty malty. A very easy drinking, unfiltered dunkle beer that is easy to recommend for a tasting, for a meal, or as a session beer. "Monasterial style brewed exclusively of dark barley malt, very malty aromatic, hearty with genuine nutty taste."

Poured a frothy tan head that didn't last more then a few seconds. Dark tea colored beer had a nice glow. Strong smell of cocoa in the aroma rests on a nice base of freshly cracked malt. The cocoa carries over into the falvor, but blends in more with the accenting flavors. There is a bit of caramel and tea flavors in there to balance it out. Fine carbonation and light body make for a fluffy smooth beer. This is a pretty darn good beer.
