Pours a deep copper with a slightly off white tan head. Nice lacing.
Didn't get much aroma, a little malt and spice. Good carbonation and medium mouthfeel, appropriate for the style. Taste is strong on rye spice with malt lurking underneath and a nice crisp hop finish, hints of citrus and grapefruit, but just hints, not enough to to fight with the rye or overwhelm it.
Definitely a good take on an amber with plenty of flavor for fans of hops and/or rye. Another solid offering from the Brewkettle.

I got this in a beer exchange. Thanks Chris!
12oz bottle served in a standard pint glass.
L - chill hazed amber color with a beige head that thinned out and left trails of lacing.
S - citrus rind with a bit of malt.
T - the rye spice is very subtle with citrus rind bitterness standing out for the most part.
F - medium bodied it goes down smooth and easy.
O - a decent beer.

A - I could tell this one is brimming with carbonation since the neck got some bubbles even before the pour. The pour itself is a strong full inch of sticky head atop of a rustic dark amber brown, very clear and bubbly.
S - Grapefruit hops, spice of rye timid but there, and a decent amount of amber lager malt sweetness.
T - Very dry and somewhat bitter. It sticks to the palate with that clash of rye and grapefruit. Seems balanced enough as any more and it would be overbearing. Not getting much sweeter flavors one would get in an amber so this one is all about the bittering rye and hops.
M - Medium and oily. Resinous and dry.
Overall I don't really see the point in getting this again. The rye is really dry and the hops are more bitter than I hoped. Like their IPA it could use more balance.

Pours hazy orange, just like expected. Very sticky white head. Hops, rye, and caramel in the aroma. Spicy, hoppy, and a very long grapefruit finish. Big flavor and very well balanced. Definitely hoppier than I expected and the rye doesn't come through as much as I had hoped, but it's there.
Very nice beer from The Brew Kettle. The flavors all work together well, but I would prefer more rye flavor. Love the label.

Here comes an easy drinking rye amber from one of the many great local brewers. Ruddy rye has a big head with big bubbles, a nice dark red color (ambers are always pretty) and a good aroma. It is not particularly distinguished in any way other than being easier drinking than many others this side of rye/amber.
It's nice and bitter but not as dark tasting as some. The head wont quit. I would have liked to see a double version of this - an over the top American with loads of hops and malt, but this is not that, it is simply a nice beer. There is no reason for me to try this again.

This beer, mostly clear but with a slight haze, is beyond amber, definitely a red but working toward a light brown. A small, compact tan head fades to a sturdy foam that remains on top and drops spotty lacing.
The aroma offers a bit of spiciness, a good floral and pine hops bouquet, and something akin to zucchini bread. There's also something that gives off a note of creamy milk chocolate.
The flavor showcases the hops, again mainly floral and piney with a leafy edge into the finish. This beer is as hoppy as any amber I've ever tasted, breaking the bounds of what's often a mediocre style. There's a nice balance between the hops and malts, though, as an amber ought to have, and just enough caramel and toffee to take the edge off the hops. Plenty flavorful, plenty balanced and pretty complex as well, this is a great beer.
The feel is crisp at the front of each sip and pretty smooth, but tends to be inconsistent in the body; it's medium, but there are flashes where it goes thin. Otherwise, it's a good feel.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating(but this can’t be too old). Big pop of carbonation upon opening. Pours a very hazy reddish orange color with a huge 2-3 finger light khaki head that lasts forever. This took forever to fully pour in to the glass. Obscene amounts of carbonation streaming up from the bottom of the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, caramel, rye, toast, orange rind, pine, and light herbal. Ok aromas, but it is difficult to really smell anything through 3 fingers of head that wont go anywhere. Taste of grapefruit, caramel, pine, rye, toast, orange zest, floral, and herbal. Fair amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, rye, caramel, toast, and herbal on the finish for a bit. Good balance of bitterness and sweetness; with good flavor balance as well. No cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a fairly creamy and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a good rye beer. The obscene over carbonation almost killed it for me, but after swirling out some of the carbonation it turned out pretty good. Some nice balance of flavors; very smooth to drink. I can bet this is a nice one with proper carbonation levels.
