Bomber into a snifter. My first beer from La Cumbre.
A: Light yellow with a substantial white bubbly white head. Very good retention with a little lacing left behind.
S: Juicy orange and grapefruit flesh notes meld with caramel and bready malts. I get a bit of melon, perhaps cantaloupe, and light floral aromatics. The aroma show balance between hops and malt.
T: Sweet malts in the flavor, reminiscent of bread and caramel, with a smooth moderate bitterness. Citrus flesh tastes of orange and tangerine with lighter rind notes. The flavor gives no indication of the ABV. There's an increase in citrus rind in the smooth balanced finish.
M: Medium body with medium carbonation.
Overall: Pretty malty but solid on the whole. Not super expressive hop-wise, but respectable.
Serving type: on-tap

Growler from GHB. Thanks!
Pale golden body capped by a finger of head. The nose is heavy on pine and orange pith, with very little malt behind the hops. There's no trace of alcohol, and little yeast presence either for that matter. Very clean stuff. The palate is surprisingly light and dry for a near 9% beer; easily one of the driest DIPAs I've had. Very resinous and piney with orange peel bitterness and a touch of grapefruit. Bitterness is clean and balanced in the finish, never approaching astringent despite the very low final gravity. This is a great DIPA, though I prefer the hop profile of La Cumbre's Elevated IPA.
