Look: poured into a pint glass with a thick 3 finger head, with a reddish brown color. The head turns to lumpy and creamy when it sets for a minute.
Smell: sweet lemon citrus with a hoppy after tone.
Feel: the head is thick and creamy, slight thick feeling with okay carbonation.
Taste: lemon, hops and with a very, almost non existent coffee aftertaste, you can taste the alcohol, and it finishes bitter with a yeasty bread taste. Really feels and has a noticeable stout vibe and taste.
Overall, nice high gravity IPA, not a big IPA fan personally, not dying for another, but I would not mind getting a few again. Not my idea of a "gotta have it" kind of beer. Try it with a six mix.
Is it really retired?, Because the store I go to has cases if it.

On-tap at Brewvival 2011. Aged with Spanish Cedar on Amarillo and Sorachi hops.
Pours dark copper with a off-white head. Huge aromas of Cedar and hops with a bit of caramel maltiness. Whew, the Cedar is very strong, like a closet lined with the stuff. Flavor is right there as well, TONS of Cedar and hops. Very piney, tons of pine resin straight from the tree. Caramel malt again provides the backbone. Medium-full mouthfeel with low carbonation. I can't say this is too drinkable, just a bit high on the pine and cedar for my tastes. Quite an experience.

Sampled on-tap multiple times at Brewvival. As the name implies this is Up the Creek aged on cedar.
Pours a slightly hazy deep copper color with a half-finger cream-colored head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of robust caramel malts with large amounts of citrus, herbal, and pine hops. Also present are large but not overwhelming amounts of cedar.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Moderately dry caramel malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by pine and herbal hops. Midway through the sip the pine hops subside a bit, allowing room for bright citrus and robust cedar flavors to make their way into things. Cedar, soft pine hops, and caramel malt flavors carry through to a moderately bitter ending.
Mouthfeel is very good. It's got a nice thickness with grainy carbonation.
Drinkability is also very good. I finished my glass quickly and could easily have a few more.
Overall I wasn't expecting much from Thomas Creek after my previous experiences but after a recommendation I was very impressed with this beer. A standout in a day filled with great beer, well worth a shot.
