Poured into a snifer, is midnight black with some head that quickly disappears. Smells malty and slightly bitter

Taste is thin but there are flavors of coffee and malts with a very dry finish. Very easy to drink, but much too thin for this style of beer.

This beer is so thick and the alcohol is right in your throat at all times. It is only 7 % and is so chewy, sweet, molasses, etc that being a Doppelbock lover I can only drink 1 of these beers.
I won't go out on a limb but I think the South makes a totally different Doppelbock from the North.

Deep, dark brown in color. Caramel colored head, very thick and substantial. Sweet, malty smell. Excellent flavored beer! Subtle chocolate and coffee flavors, not overpowering. Feels nice in the maw - doesn't leave it dry.

Nicely put together brew. Will try several more times probably.
