Review from BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #26:
Impressive lacing on the glass forms a slowly disappearing tan head. A shade or two away from complete blackness. Nice aromas of burnt sugar, light charcoal, caramel and a quick woody/herbal/citric hop kiss on the nose. Creamy smoothness shows the thickness of the medium body. Slight char, caramel sweetness and orange herbal hop oil to kick things off. The roasted character resembles bitter dark chocolate, faint dark-roasted coffee and toasted bread. Some oily, slick flavor comes from the hops, with a leveled bitterness and flowery, citric and herbal flavors. The roasted grain flavor lingers for a while in a pleasant way, as does the oil hop. Finishes a little dry.
Not too robust; easy drinking, yet still offers levels of simple complexities. This one really shows that you can have a balanced Porter with a heavy hand of flavor.

12 ounce bottle -> World market tulip glass
This one is as black as night with a generous overflowing foamy caramel colored head. Retention is awesome and loads of spotty lacing sticks to the side of the glass. Nose is coffee, chocolate, and a roasted scent. Taste follows the nose with notes of coffee and chocolate to be the dominant flavor, but also some hints of caramel and molasses. Mouthfeel is quite nice. A nice offering from South Carolina!!

Near black with thick tan head that slowly bubbles away. Piney citric hop on the nose with buried but heavily roasted malt. Smooth and medium body but delivers a somewhat creamy experience to the mouth. Well blended and concentrated flavors. burnt malts, bright hops and great balance. Hop bite but it doesnt linger or build. Not overly complex but has enough going on to keep things interesting while remaining extremely crisp effervescent and refreshing. One of the few porter's i've had that I could see myself drinking as a thirst quencher yet still have flavor. Very clean for a porter and lots of flavor for being so clean.

Pours a deep amber to black in color with a tan head. In the aroma, a light chocolaty roast, yet somewhat faint. In the taste, an abrasive hop to a mellow chocolate maltiness, a bit thin though. A hop bite and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry pine and small chocolate notes in the aftertaste. A faint nose and a bit thin, but decent nonetheless.

Pours very dark brown. Light tan head that lingers pretty well.
Smell is toasted malt and chocolate. Very subtle hint of molasses.
Taste is sweet malt and chocolate. Mild bitterness. Not that much going on for me.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation.
Overall this was good. Worth trying, but not my favorite.

A- pours a big two inch medium mocha colored head on a dark brown body. Head is fluffy and sticks around awhile. leaves good lacing, looks delicious.
S- Chocolate notes with whiffs of cola. Some roastiness.
T- Chocolate licorice. Some earthy hop presence...above average for a porter and kinda of steals this beers identity, leaving it showing itself differently after each sip.
M- A touch over-carbonated for a porter. Medium to medium-thin mouthfeel makes like an easy one to get through.
D/O- An ridiculously easy porter to drink, it's drinkability coupled with a wonder appearance would make this an excellent draft choice at a local bar.

Had at the source! Served from tap into a sampler shaker. Poured a dark brown with a one finger khaki colored head that subsided to half a finger slwoly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, roasted malt, milk chocolate, and subtle dark fruit. The flavor was of sweet malt, dark chocolate, roasted malt, earth, and subtle cream. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. Nothing on this one really stood out as being amazing except the appearance if I'm honest. While there was a lot going on in the flavor and aroma, it was just too random and not really uniformed to work in unison. Still not bad, but not the best porter I've had. Worth trying if you get the chance however.
