My wife and I arrived here about 10 minutes after it opened on a Friday mid-morning after paying a visit to the historic Del Coronado Hotel. We parked just off of Orange Ave. and walked up Orange to get to the brewpub. What a cute, clean area. We stopped to say hi to a snow white, long haired Tom cat named Sam. He was just chillin' on the sidewalk. Coronado Brewing's storefront is very attractive--brick with a hanging wooden sign, brass lettering above, with an adjacent painted Coronado emblem. The inside is very nice with wood everywhere. Brew kettles and fermenters are visible behind the bar. The service was pleasant, accommodating, and friendly. In fact, Ron Chapman, the CEO and co-founder had observed me taking notes on all the beers I was trying. He came over to introduce himself and tell me a little about the history of the brewery and his excitement about the craft brew explosion in San Diego. Coronado was among a handful of craft brewers in the San Diego area before anyone even really knew what "craft beer" meant.
Flights are available. I won't review the beers here, I've done that for each individual one I tried. Suffice it to say that Coronado has positioned itself solidly in one of the most competitive, growing artisan beer markets in the world. I was very impressed. I can't wait to go back. This time for some lunch or dinner in addition to a few pints.

Visited 26 Nov 2013, around 2:00 - 3:00pm
An impromptu day trip on our first full day in San Diego (staying in nearby Chula Vista with my wife's family, actually) resulted in a damn good hour+ spent as a late lunch. A fortuitous right turn at Orange St (we meant to go left toward the famed historic hotel and beach, which we visited later) meant a U-turn, after which my eagle-eyed wife stated: "oh, that place looks cool...oooh, and it's a brewery!". SIL and MIL agreed to go, especially after some rave Yelp reviews were read aloud, curbside.
A single story brick building with bold lettering and a colorfully painted mural above and nicely landscaped, Coronado *is*, indeed, a pretty little brewpub from the outside. Inside is a bit more dimly lit and "pub"-like: a large central bar, a room full of booths, an open kitchen, a room behind the bar full of copper and stainless tanks. But we were able to snag one of three tables on a small patio, fronting the sidewalk, so as to enjoy the splendid weather and sidewalk entertainment.
Larissa was our server and did a nice job offering advice on food and beers ("happy hour starts in 5 minutes if you'd like to have water until then." (We did and it was worth it for cheaper food and $3.50 pints!) and gently steering us away from some menu items (love honest opinions from a server!). I chose shrimp tacos (loaded and delicious), SIL got the "small" nachos (huge!), MIL did the Cobb Salad (liked it)... but wife "won" with a terrific Lobster Mac & Cheese - worth every penny ($15.50)! Big menu and some very good Happy Hour discounts (2-6pm).
So, beer? Yes, there's a lot of it! Having only had one beer EVER from Coronado prior to this visit, I was really impressed with both the variety of beers and the quality of what we tried. Wife decided on the Rye Dogg (after trying my taster), SIL picked the Orange St Wit and I got the Silver Strand Saison (very tasty). We also tried some VERY generous sample ours of Scotch on the Rocks, Señor Saison (pretty great, with jalapeños and sage), Old Scallywag Barleywine and an intriguing one called Beer-No-Grigio. All very tasty.
Really liked everything about this visit. We'd definitely return --- and SIL who lives in the area stated she definitely wants to go back soon. Recommended!

Last stop after a long day running around to many of San Diego's breweries/brew pubs. We went on a Friday and it seemed pretty crowded, yet we were seated right away. Their dining area is large but it gets a little crowded around the bar area.
Wait-staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about their beer selections. Varied menu with a little something for everyone and prices were reasonable. Food was delivered quickly after ordering and everything was nice and hot, looked/smelled great and tasted good. We paired the food with some of their beers were not disappointed.
After dinner, we walked out and noticed a large crowd waiting for seating in the restaurant, which simply means come early on weekends if you don't want to wait. It's a popular place and it's worth a trip if you're in the area.

These guys have been killing it since 1996. They have recently been updating their menu and beer roster. With the opening of their new 30 barrel brewhouse on knoxville st and hiring of some amazing up and coming brewers its safe to say they will be keeping up if not destroying the already outstanding beer scene.
