A: Pours a golden red-brown with 1 finger head.
S: Very floral, filling olfactory visions of sunsets and orchids and persuading you to recall the purple wildflowers of early summer.
T: Light hop as an afternote after the floral light lager feel on the front end.
M: Perfect for a summer IPA, light wave of hops on the tongue with some sense of lager flowers.
O: Very delightful beer for a light IPA full of floral flavor and easy to drink. Definitely worthy of an enjoyable summertime treat.

From: Coronado Brewing Company in Coronado, Calif. (San Diego)
Price: $3.00
Misc.: Collaboration with Maui; Had on Jan. 21, 2013
Poured an amber hazy color with one finger of white head when I got it. Above average lacing with good retention.
Smelled citrus hops - hibiscus and berry, floral hops, rye hops and iced tea.
Tasted much better than the smell. Got grapefruit, lemon, orange rind, hibiscus and floral hops.
Light body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Refreshing finish.
Really enjoyed this beer. Smooth, refreshing and tasty.

Poured into a Stone Imperial glass. Dark red to mahogany color and crystal clear. Head is a large one finger. Just off white in color and creamy in appearance. Lace is minimal to non existent.
Nose is quite remarkable. Floral, citrus. Orange blossoms come to mind. Pine, mild malt and sweetness.
Taste is different. There is a huge in your face tart, dry and different flavor. Buttery? Dark citrus, pink grapefruit or blood orange and maybe grapes. It's definitely different.
Mouth is medium with round carbonation. Body is light and refreshing and the finish is short and on the dry side.
Overall I'm not sure how much I liked this. If it just tasted like it smelled I would be really happy but I think the flowers give it a weird kind of twist. I am very glad to support the Beer for Boobs organization , ha! Who doesn't support boobs? I feel like a bra. As for the beer I would recommend this to a hard core IPA lover that wants to try something different. If that's not you then don't waste you time or money.

Bottle I brough to share at drewone's tasting.
Pours a hazy red with a foamy reddish-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest. Taste is much the same with a slight hibiscus flavor and a mild hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but nothing too exciting going on here.

Poured from a bomber into an etched pint glass. No freshness date but it came out recently.
Attractive pink-orange color, crystal clear. Loose white head that fades quickly, no lacing. Still looks pretty though. Does the hibiscus mess with the head?
Smells great. Very floral with a nice red grapefruit, a little orange zest, honey.
The taste is a lot drier than the nose suggests, but with similar notes. Primarily grapefruit, with some bitter orange, lemon, and grassiness. Ends with the hibiscus. Mostly dry with just a hint of a flowery sweetness on the end.
Light, crisp body, ends dry and clean. Nicely carbonated. Works well with all the dry citrus notes going on.
Overall a tasty IPA with character. Nothing mind blowing but I'd love to have a six pack of it around in the summer.

22 oz. bottle,
A: Pours mauve, pinkish with a small fizzy off-pink head with poor retention, no lace. Cool colour.
S: Wildflowers, lots of grass interesting.
T: The hibiscus is heavy and to the foorefront, taking over the beer most of the time. Some pink grapefruit, with a bitter hoppy finish.
M: Light-bodied, crisp carbonation, fizzy at points. Medium long aftertaste.
O: An interesting elixir, the hibiscus is in your face, so fans of that flavour will enjoy this. Worth a pick up for something different, but fairly one dimensional.

A - Very rich mahogany red. Nice thick head with big bubbles that faded away pretty quickly. When held up to the sunlight the head is very bright and honestly had a pinkish tint. Very intrigued at the appearance. Very dark for an IPA.
S - Smells like fresh floral hops. Lots of flowery hops in there followed up with bready malts.
T - Blah! I knew by the ABV that the taste wasn't going to be intense, but this is the blandest IPA I've run into. Where's the bitterness? Where's the citrus or pine? Drinks more like a Yuengling or a light amber. Not sure what there were trying to get out of this, but I think this is just a poor representation of an IPA. Kinda surprised because I'm a big fan of both breweries. Oh well.
M - Medium bodied with loads of carbonation.
O - Just not at all what I was looking for when I picked up this guy. Thought the hibiscus would really add some floral flavor and really bring out the hops. That didn't happen. I think Lagunitas Daytime is a much better representation of a light IPA.

This is a collaborative effort between CBC and Maui Brewing. One diminutive, but I'm told "strong" gal from Maui Brewing came out to Coronado to create this interesting concoction. It's the most beautiful ale I've ever seen. Such a vibrant rose color. My only regret is that the white head faded so quickly. Emanating from the glass is a lovely grapefruit nose that nearly rivals it's appearance. The mouthfeel is nearly perfect. Very wet, slick with just the right amount of carbonation burn. Ok, the flavor is unique. Particularly, when considered in the context of the grapefruit bouquet. It is tart and floral. The flavor is consistent throughout. Some lagerish notes at the very finish.

Had on tap at the CBC brewpub poured into a pint glass. This is their collaboration with Maui Brewing.
Pours ruby red in color with 1-1.5 fingers worth of a white head which doesn't stay for long. Smell is of floral notes, some orange citrus, and light hops. Tastes is very similar. The hibiscus comes through and is not over powering. I also get some bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is what I would expect for an IPA.
Overall, this is a refreshing sessionable beer that is perfect for a summer day.
