On tap at O'Brien's

A: nice clear golden color with a thin bone white head.

S: Bready malt with some hop resin and something very herbal that reminds me of rosemary. Citrus as well.

T: Ugh. This just doesn't do it for me. A lot of pine hip bitterness with a ton more bitterness throughout and some biscuity malt as well. No particularly pleasant flavors to be found here.

Steady flow of bubbles rising through a pale golden body, with a fine, eggshell head.

Very faint wafts of floral and citrus hops hit my nose, with a just hint of cloves. A little bland for a California IPA.

Taste is much like the smell, with a little more lime and spice, especially on the finish.

Full bodied IPA, a tinge syrupy.

Overall, not bad, but I can't say I'd seek it out. I'd try a pint if I saw it somewhere, but probably won't get another bottle.

Bottle acquired at a SoCal bottle shop. Served into a Mitchell's of Lancaster flared stem-tulip. Reviewed from notes taken last weekend. Cost was $11.00.

A: Pours a half finger head of white colour. Nice cream. Decent thickness. Average retention. Body colour is a clear yellow. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Nice vibrance.

Sm: Light floral hop notes. Lemon citrus ester hops. Orange citrus zest. Pale malts. Light oily hop character. Ginger. Lime. Fragrant and perfumey. Quite appealing. Very evocative in terms of its hops. I'm very interested.

T: Lemon zest, lime, citrusy orange zest. Pale malts. Some oily hops. Lovely floral and citrusy hop character. Juicy. The lime is wonderful; this is not the artificial lime of your run of the mill Spanish or Mexican lager. Lightly nectary. Very balanced and enjoyable. I quite like it. Complex and subtle enough. No yeast character or alcohol comes through. Clean and crisp.

Mf: Clean, smooth, and wet. Good carbonation. Oily. Good thickness. Suits the flavour profile well. Refreshing. Approachable. Good presence on the palate.

Dr: Hides its ABV well. I quite like it. A surprisingly good brew from Coronado. I'd get it again, but not at the $11 pricetag I paid for it. Refreshing and very drinkable.

Painted 22 oz. bomber served into a pint glass. The Frog's Breath pours a clear light gold in color and with a half inch of off white foam. A light carbonation from the bottom of the glass is just enough to keep a surface cap on the pour. A second and more robust pour yields better results as perhaps it was a bit too cold initially.

Offers a decent hop aroma wrapped up with a bit of lime in the delivery. Warming brings out more classic pine and citrus as the lime becomes more subdued. Not overly abundant and in fact a bit thin for an IPA however, yet fairly well integrated with spices.

Light sense of lime follows on the taste of this brew. Light citric bready character in the middle and a certain astringency on the finish that isn't really a hop driven bitterness. A decently lingering finish closes with another quick flash of lime infused grain. Lime surely trumps the lemon and orange zest added to this brew yet it remains subtle which matches a subtle hop character as well. Overall an easy drinking IPA though largely due to a lack of hop depth with just enough citrus and spice and malt to give it a plesant albeit interesting balance.

Golden colored beer with a tall white colored head. Very pale for the style..

Smell is strong citrus. Strong lime and orange aromas. Decent amount of pine but this is very much a citrus scented beer. Checked the label I didn't smell the lemon.

Starts out grassy with a strong tea flavor. Lime and orange flavors. Grassy and mildly bitter. Not bad the infusion of IPA with citrus zest works.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall a tasty beer. Still I have had a better spiced IPA.

22 oz. bottle,

A: Pours a dark gold with a light white head, some minor lace, solid head retention.

S: Notes of honey, citrus zest, an interesting inviting smell.

T: Pine and tangerines are what I'm getting with an intriguing note of lemon-lime midway through. Very floral and zesty, spring meadow like.

M: Medium-bodied, fizzy, soft carbonation for the style.

O: A good take on the IPA style, I like that they're doing something different here. Well worth a try.

Pours a clear gold with a small cap of dense white foam. Average retention that leaves some partial rings of lacing during the drink.

A floral bouquet of bright herbal tones and stock grapefruit and pine hops. I can sense the lime leaf and some rosewater and mint. Sweet malt but very hard to discern over all those hops.

Toasted white breadmalt with just a bit of caramel sweetness underlies the hops. Pine forward, resiny with tangerine, alpha acids really stick to the tongue and makes an astringent citrus pith flavor ramp up the bitterness as the finish is drying with moderate alcohol.

Average body, perhaps a touch over carbonated, I found myself battling with the bubbles quite often. Soapy and drying finish. You can feel almost every bit of that 6.5% ABV.

No excuses, this beer is fresh right now and honestly not my thing, the hops are assertive in the bitter category but not much else. The spices while applying a light pleasant nose get mixed in with the enormity of the pine and citrus hops and the soapy finish really gets annoying after half the bomber. Coronado's other crown series IPAs are much better.

22 oz bomber into tulip glass. Poured carefully to avoid stirring sediment at bottom. Pours very pale, is gold in the glass. Smells bready, with a fruity high note.

Tastes very hoppy/piney. Really bitter. That's almost all you get. Long finish, which in this case is not necessarily a good thing. I have a friend who might like this style, but I like my hops more balanced. This one's a one-note wonder.

Opened for #IPADay.

Pours a hazy lighter pale. Almost light lager looking.
Nice citrus and fruit-hop aroma. Smells like a great West Coast style IPA

Fruity, some pine and grassy hops, lighter to moderate bodied. Extremely light on the malt, which I prefer. Slight odd flavors of a spice and a almost-butter flavor I can't quite place. Almost like a fat or butter without butter flavor (not diacetyl).
I have noticed this in a few other IPAs recently also (Burning of Rome from Port OB). Some lingering bitterness.

A nice beer, quite drinkable although not a fan of the spice flavor.

Had on tap at Hammie's just after it was released.

A - Pale with a hint of colour from what I'd assume is crystal malts. White head was one finger.

S - Fruity with passion fruit and some less jarring citrus coming thru.

T - Nice hop forward IPA. Passionfruit came thru from the nose and overall fruity vs. dank.

M - Somewhat high carbonation but within style, nice and refreshing.

O - I thought this was a good solid IPA. I find Coronado's other IPA's to be on the thick and dank side so this was a welcome change. Interested to try it in bottles but I'd order it again for sure.
