A - solid black, big thumb of brown head that held strong at a finger with complete lacing all around
S - big chocolate and licorice with a little perfume and fairly warm alcohol scent
T - big playoff of chocolate malts vs. perfume hops, hints of allspice, charcoal, leather, and mild pine and alcohol sweet finish
M - big chewy stout feel matched up against some hop bitterness and alcohol dryness
O - it in your face and massive all around, but it manages to work itself into a level of balance that I did not think it could, but in the mutually assured destruction sense of the term .... my kind of stout

Reviewed from notes. Had on-tap at The Stein & Vine. Served in a snifter glass.
A: Very dark brown, nearly opaque, with a thin tan head. Low visible carbonation.
S: Brown, sweet malts, a bit of chocolate, fruity and nearly vinous, and maybe some anise to boot.
T: Follows the nose. Roasty, chocolate, and some of the fruit, anise, then significant boozy heat at the end. Fairly sweet overall.
M: Medium body, somewhat sticky mouthfeel, carbonation sensation on the low side. Alcohol is quite noticeable.
O: Not bad, although not a stout I'd rush back to. I've got a bottle of this in the cellar...which is where it's gonna stay for a year or more. The booze needs some time to calm down. Still, an enjoyable beer overall.

Stupid Stout pours out black with a small mocha head that retains very well. The aroma is strongly roasty, with some dark fruits and hops. On the tongue, an initial hit of dark fruits covers up an intensely roasty and bitter body. The bittering is pushed along with with a solid dose of hops. As the beer warms, a licorice flavor reveals itself. The mouthfeel is is on the lighter side for such a big stout, with a low level of carbonation, and the drinkability is good. Stoopid Stout is a good, inexpensive hoppy imperial stout. I'd recommend it for sure, but it won't blow you away. Just a solid drink.

650ml bottle. I enjoyed this brewery's offerings while on honeymoon in Hawaii last year, so it's weirdly cool to now see it in Alberta. Thanks be to the State of California for its warnings on the label - I shall endeavor to keep my very pregnant wife from licking this vessel. Whew.
This beer pours a dark, brown-tinted void, with very slight basal cola highlights, and three fingers of densely foamy, puffy, bubbly Nesquick brown head, which leaves some rather attractive wild honeycomb lace around the glass as it gently recedes.
It smells of sugary black licorice, roasted caramel malt, bittersweet cocoa, concentrated tropical fruit chewing gum, light nutty notes, somewhat bitter leafy, earthy hops, and a burgeoning, though mostly restrained alcohol warming. The taste is lightly toasted caramel/toffee malt, solid medium baker's chocolate, earthy, chalky licorice strands, sweet orange and muddled tropical fruit, indeterminately bitter hops, and an herbal liqueur sniffing about.
The bubbles are adequate, with a piqued perkiness here and there, the body just on the low side of medium weight, especially for the style, and smooth enough, I suppose, as the zingy hops and alcohol take their veritable pound of flesh. It finishes on the sweet side, with a hefty hop essence that might take issue with that proclamation, but it is so - the chocolate, caramel and licorice (and booze, don't forget the booze!) just don't lie, baby.
An aptly named, if pithily so, big stout if there ever was one. It's a little one-sided (ok, two-sided, if you count the ABV), but it also does well enough to keep the beefy ABV in check, and promote the chocolate and anise notes in lieu. Large, yes, and imposing, but with a sidestep from the normal, which may very well be the antithesis of 'stupid'.

650ml bomber poured into tulip 10/1/13
A looks the part, black liquid with a thin cola edge, mocha foam is large and quickly falls to a thin film leaving random polka dot lace
S prune, licorice, some hops shining through, char and some fruit I can't quite place
T lots of burnt espresso and even more char, there's a little citrus and licorice with some ultra dark bakers chocolate but the burnt malt is taking over in the mouth, there's some booze but nothing I wouldn't expect for 10%
M thinner then expected and I didn't taste much booze but I can feel it going down, a citric char and burnt malt finish
O roasted to the extreme, its a little intense but I enjoyed it, a buddy would work well for the bomber but I had no issues solo
I can't say I've ever seen a Cadmium warning on a beer bottle before, perhaps this will change my habit of scraping the ink off bottles and snorting it

Ordered a US pint of this brew at Vivo in Ikebukuro on a busy Friday night. Sitting next to some old Japanese women talking about how they don't like "yankees" with rude manners, throwing the word American in there a few times. Luckily, I agree with them, so it don't bother me none. I sit back with my Zune pumping some vintage Sasha into my lobes as I enjoy this hefty brew. The thin head on this brew looks like roasted caramel it's so dark. Looks like a chocolate stout. After the first sip, there is a delightful coffee bean aftertaste that gives you something to think about. The mouthfeel is nice and thick. This beer tastes like how I imagine Burt Reynolds' moustache tastes -- awesome. Not even halfway done with the pint, I can feel a warm tingling in my palms. Definitely a nice side effect from the 9.5% alcohol content. This brew leaves a nice film on my gums and teeth that feels like I haven't brushed my teeth in a week. That might sound disgusting, but I think any imperial stout should have this lasting effect. And it's awesome.

on tap at churchill pub. Big roasted aroma and taste, coffee and chocolate. Balanced but just fair for the style. Black bodied, a small amount of head. Medium mouthfeel, Expect bigger bodied for the style. not that complex or tasty. Drinkable is alright. A tad boozy.

On tap at Coronado Brewing. Brewed to age in brandy barrels.
A: Black with a finger of dark brown froth.
S: Roasted grains blend with dark chocolate and light nutty notes. Black licorice meets molasses. Alcohol is not shy. This is pretty hoppy, with traces of pine and grapefruit.
T: Upper moderate bitterness with big roasted malt notes. I get molasses and a little licorice, as well as alcohol and chocolate. The finish is bitter and boozy, it's a bit too aggressive.
M: Full in body with moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is sticky.
Overall: A solid aggressive imperial stout. This could be quite good in barrels.

Adding beer - All I could find on here was the 12th Anniversary BA version and the Stupid Stout English version, either of which this is not.
First got to try this at Stone 15th Annie and really enjoyed it then so very stoked to see this on tap.
O’Brien’s Pub
-Notes from 10-20-11
A: Stoopid Stout pours an oily slick dark ale with some lighter edges to it. A nice one finger head of brown sugar color foam formed. Tracked intervals of spotted lace.
S: Smells of roast coffee aromas and some burnt toasty grains.
T: Very intense roast flavors and rich with notes of coffee beans and some bitter dark chocolate. Hoppy bitterness is spice and pine. Pretty hoppy actually. Warm but nice. Alcohol flavors are subdued. Rich and complex. Fantastic balance. This is a Stoopid Stout yo!
M: Nice smooth mouthfeel. Medium to heavier body and creamy. Not too viscuos. Lighter finish that is crisp and dries up a bit. Slight puckering hop effect.
D: A robust brew that exercises great balance. Not syrupy or boozy by any means. Quite drinkable and packed with flavor.
A fantastic stout. As good as Idiot is an IPA, Stoopid is a Stout. Hope to see more of this brew. I bet the BA version is awesome. Would highly recommend.
