Sunsplash Kölsch is inspired by a Jamaican beverage made in tribute of a reggae fest held in Jamaica that originated in the 70′s. Sunsplash begins as a German style Kölsch Ale brewed with premium pilsner malt and a touch of wheat and Munich malts. We then add Tettnanger hops, and ferment with a German ale yeast at 59 degrees to create a crisp, dry, and thirst quenching beer. With the aromatic additions of Caribbean Sorrel (a relative of Hibiscus), Thai Ginger, & Fresh Orange Zest.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a light haze and effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy ivory foam. It's a bit dark for a Kölsch, but otherwise it is quite good.
Smell: gingery and orange-zesty; this beer may not be a pure Kölsch but it's definitely as-advertised from a spicing standpoint.
Taste: the spicing in the flavor is mild vis-à-vis the aroma, and it works pretty well. The ginger comes through, but there's a definite slightly-yeasty Kölsch character here; it works.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a huge carbonation and a surprisingly good creaminess. I dig.
Overall: a tasty and drinkable spiced Kölsch; it may not be supremely quaffable but in general it's a nicely satisfying beer.

22 oz bottle purchased from Lifesource in Salem OR $4.99 Poured into the glass its a light, bright copper in colour with a large thick and frothy off white head.. I noted when pouring i saw some pinkish highlights as it came out the bottle..strange but nice. Aroma is slight but what there is is flowery and some spice. Taste is nice with hints of the flowers and an nice undertone of heated ginger, the kolsch base seems good. OK mouth feel ..slight heat in the end..good. An OK summer beer.

into a tulip pint
Pours a hazy, grapefruit pink hued-orange. A big, foamy white head and thick lacing.
Very nice blend of floral and citrus from all the spices. Medium body, mild, foamy carbonation.
A well done, unique take on the Kolsch style.

Crystal clear with a pink hue. Nose is standard kolsch with a taste that follows the same line. Little floral on the tounge from the hibiscus, and a touch of citrus. The slightest spice bite from the ginger. Overall good easy drinking beer would get again. Only problem I had higher hopes from the description on the bottle.
