Notes:
A traditional Bavarian style wheat ale with flavors and aromas of banana and clove created by the yeast, combined with caramel and chocolate flavors from the malt. Very complex yet super drinkable.

notes from 10/21.
Poured from tap and pours an amber color with a nice head.
Nice spices based aromas of cloves, grains, and bananas.
Medium bodied with a very nice feel and notes of cloves and banans.
A quality dunkel. Balanced with a nice feel and aromas.

On-tap at Haymarket. Served in a 4oz taster glass.
A - White foam settles to a thick collar and splotches of lace. Hazy orange-brown body that's surprisingly light for a dunkelweiss.
S - Bananas and clove, phenolic weizen yeast, wheat and grains. A little bit too much yeast influence for my tastes, and more hefeweizen than dunkelweizen in aroma.
T - The taste is less sweet banana, with more dry cocoa, nuts, wheat, and your typical weizen yeast. Less banana and more banana bread in flavor profile, and more in line with what I expect from a dunkelweizen.
M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, grainy chaffed wheat texture, and a clean finish. No alcohol, although I wasn't expecting any.
D - Decent, but nothing mind-blowing. Aroma was a bit unexpected for the style, but otherwise this was fairly enjoyable. Somewhere between a hefeweizen and a dunkelweizen and serviceable if you're into German beers.
