A- Black in the glass one finger head that leaves some lacing
S- bourbon, vanilla roasted malt, chocolate and some slight coffee
T-complex bourbon notes, vanilla, oak, caramel, chocolate roasted notes. Mild coffee.
M-medium bodied not much carbonation a tad light
O- Everything should be aged in PvW 23 barrels. A really good beer.

Good grief, this is a good beer. Poured at Yogi's during Bloomington beer week.
Black as night with a thin-ish tan head, leaving spotty lace.
dark dark chocolate, two layer cake with fudge frosting. Big bodied, medium carbonation, smooth and creamy. Upon warming a bit, there's a little roastiness and maybe some black cherry in the way way back.
Maybe I better give flat 12 a second look.

Brought home a growler from the Flat12 tasting room. Pinko Russian Imperial Stout aged in 23 year PVW barrels.
Pours jet black with a small coffee colored head that fades into a ring within seconds.
The aroma on this one is a beast. Lots of fudgy dark chocolate, earthy hops, roasted malt, oak with a hint of smoke all topped off with a bourbon kick.
Similar flavors. This one isn't for tame taste buds. Lots of roasted coffee along with the chocolate. Smoke is again in the background. Finishes with earthy hop bitterness and a little booze. Somewhat astringent on the finish, but lots of complexity going on.
Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. I'd like to see the ABV kicked up just a notch on this to give it a fuller feel.
All in all, tasty stout from a local brewer. Flat 12 has done some good barrel work in their limited beers. Hope to have more like these in the future.
