On tap at the brewery. It's a vanilla barrel-aged amber. It smells like beer, not bourbon (thankfully): lightly rusted malt, moist vanilla, and little hints of whiskey. Nice blend--interesting but not overpowering.
Tastes like it smells. Starts off like a medium-hopped amber, the vanilla takes over near the middle, and the end is all whiskey and booze.
Nice beer, packs a big flavor wallop for its relatively low ABV, and the vanilla doesn't come off gimmicky or cloying.

This beer was sampled on-tap at the Illiana Mayfest on 5/26/2012.
Mustache Ride Red is an amber with roasted malt and very moderate hop bitterness, aged in a bourbon barrel with real vanilla beans. Poured in to the sampler glass, it was a dark color with hints of reddish hue. Vanilla and hints of honey are very present in the aroma. It is a sweet smell, not necessarily typical of an amber. The most notable impression of this beer is its smoothness. The vanilla lends itself well to the texture as it begins to give the impression of Dairy Queen soft serve. There is not much change in the after as it goes down like creme soda. Notes of the barrel aging are present, but are generally disguised by the vanilla beans. One would have difficulty being able to tell this is an amber, but maybe that is not a bad thing.

Poured a nice burnished copper-red with decent head and some decent lacing. Nice thick malty scent, with hints of chocolate, along with a nice earthy bitterness in the nose. Good flavors, with a thick sweet malt, hints of chocolate and caramel, and a nice slightly citrus and slightly earthy hop finish. Goes down quite well; not as complex as a lot of red ales, but it was still quite good and fairly tasty.
