Hazy copper-reddish pour with quickly fading one finger head and decent lacing. Nice caramel malt nose with some herbal hop notes. Really unique taste, especially for a German beer. Nicely balanced with a great rich, malty caramel sweetness and just enough spicy hop bitterness. Hints of brown sugar and tea and a bit of earthiness. Chewy and slightly thick mouthfeel with a nice dry finish. The drinkability is outrageous. Living in Germany, it's great to find a unique red beer like this that provides a nice alternative to the typical brews. Well done!

I had this bottle of beer for over more than five months in my beerfridge. Time to drink it!

Poured in my Struise glass the beer looks OK. Coppercoloured with a broken white head. No carbonation at all.

A light sweet taste, not bad but not spectacular.

There is no alcohol at all noticable when you drink this beer.

Dark red color, with a beautiful beige head.
Malty smell, with herbal notes, tending to something root-like, bitter.
Again in the taste, a good herbal bitterness, almost rhubarb.
Malty notes and a touch of caramel.
Again some caramel in the aftertaste, and again a bitter herbal note.
Pleasant and thirst-quenching, quite dry.

Bought bottle in Mahrun, in Pfungstadt, Germany...the largest beer store in the world, at least that's what they say.

A: A red German beer? Very unusual, very unique in Germany, so gets a 5.
S: malty, noble malts, but not overly strong.
T: Malty but not overly so, toasted bread, you can take long sips and is refreshing from the noble hops in the back of the mouth.
M: typical for a lager, not thick but more on the thin side.
D: "Süffig" is the German word for drinkable, and that is this beer!

Got this bier as a gift from a friend in Germany.

Served from a 500 mL bottle into a Sam Adams glass. Bottle is a swingtop closure.

A: tan to orange color, cloudy, with interesting off-white 3 finger, creamy head that retains for about a minute and then dissipates.

S: characteristic German malt, caramel/grainy, somewhat musty yeast-like aroma.

T: the malt character, a deep honey-like flavor with hints of toffee, is balanced up front by a tart flavor that stops short of tanginess. The finish is surprisingly full of noble hop character, with an earthy, dried flower/tea-like flavor that transitions to bitterness. Between the A, S, and T this resembles a kellerbier more than a Maerzen.

M: creamy, somewhat viscous, with average carbonation.

D: Very easy to drink, with middle of the road ABV but lots of flavor. Probably would switch to something else after but for me that is typical after a kellerbier.

Today was the first time I've ever heard of a Rräuberbier. I have no good way to categorize this beer, other than it is a lager. Gee no surprise there, Deutschland!

This brew produces a good amount of light tan head, which reduces steadily to fine lacing. The body is slightly hazy, as well as burgundy and copper in color at the same time.

The aroma is a little herbal and spicy. The taste shares these characteristics along with a sweet vegetable like bitterness.

Overall this is a good and interesting beer, but nothing outside of Germany's traditional lager blindfold.
