A: The beer is absolutely jet black in color and poured like the consistency of motor oil, eventually foaming a bit at the end to produce an eighth of a finger high mocha-colored head. This died down into delicate lacing covering the surface and also left a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of dark chocolate malts in the nose along with some notes of coffee beans and hints of roasted malts.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but much more balanced and has a light amount of bitterness. Hints of burnt malts and licorice become evident as the beer warms up. Only slight traces of alcohol are perceptible.
M: It feels a bit shy of full-bodied on the palate and coats your mouth a bit; a low to moderate amount of carbonation is present. There are some slight hints of warming from the alcohol and dryness towards the finish.
O: This beer has a great balance between the malts and hops and hides its alcohol especially well considering the strength. It's quite bitter for such a strong stout, which negates any stickiness. As such, it is a very drinkable imperial stout.

Poured into a Cigar City snifter at Tryst in Delray Beach, FL.

A- Pours a totally opaque black color with pretty much no head, just some light brown bubbles and a thin ring around the edge of the glass. Tiny specs of lacing stick to the glass.

S- Just all dark roast and some booze. There's also a faint hoppiness detected with some short, sharp sniffs.

T- Incredibly smooth considering the ABV with notes of milk chocolate, vanilla and molasses. Some char comes through as the beer warms. Definitely a sipper but it could be drunk quickly if one has a palate for high gravity stouts. The hops also start to show up as the temp rises.

M- Unexpectedly thin with low carbonation and a hefty body.

O- Very straightforward and certainly worth the $17 for an 11.2 oz bottle. Evil Twin's beers may be pricey, but damn are they great.

I allowed this beer 1/2 an hour warming from fridge temp.
The beer pours a motor oil black with a thin blanketing of dark tan head that fades into a thin halo with modest lacing. The nose is very potent and distinct of slightly roasty malts, ethanol, coffee, and bitter chocolate. Seriously, it has a very pungent nose. The taste is relatively malty and sweet upfront with a pleasantly roasty, boozy afterburn. Honestly, I can't say I've had many imperial stouts quite like this beer. The mouthfeel is thick and malty, sweet, with a slight bitter chocolate roastiness in the finish. Pungent, interesting flavors and a big ethanol burn make this an evening sipper. I'm glad to try this beer and think it provides a relatively distinct alternative to most american made imperial stouts...although at a price.

11.2 oz bottle at about fridge temp poured into a snifter.

Pours out an oily thick midnight black color with a thin dark mocha colored head. The head doesn't really last, only keeping a thin ring around the edge, but some thick dark brown legs are left all over the sides of the glass after a swirl. Keywords: black, oily, thick.

Deeply charred, bitter roast, bitter dark dark chocolate, some warm booziness, almost port or bourbon like in a way, that seems to blend in so nicely, really compliments the beer, hints of chocolate cake and as it warms hints of dark fruits.

A really nice tasting impy stout. Burnt bitter roasted malt, bitter dark chocolate, sweet burnt sugar, dark caramel, chocolate brownies. nuances of tobacco, dark fruits. A bit of a warming effect that works well with the beer, but in no way is it overly boozey. Finishes with a really nice deep bitter dark chocolate flavor that really lingers and almost tastes like German chocolate cake at times. As it warms the chocolate flavors are just amazing. What a complex stout!

Amazing mouthfeel. Thick, sweet, oily, viscous, smooth and velvety. A lower carbonation which obviously works well.

Maybe one of the best non barrel aged stouts I've had, so I can only imagine how heavenly this would be in a barrel. It's hard to pick a better one between this and imp. biscotti break, I would almost say this is better, because although I love the coffee in biscotti, I'm not a huge fan of the toasted malt notes, where this is straight deep dark burnt roasted malt. Buy this if you can, well worth the cash.

Sometimes I enjoy matching the abv of my beer to the time of the day and I can't think of anything that's better than an Imperial Stout on a spring Saturday afternoon.

Also, another RSVP in Portland, ME special, $8, rather than the $12 I've seen in some reviews.

A-Absolutely Sludgey motor oil. Plops in the glass with an intimidating viscosity. Alas though, this beer could not complete the near impossible and actually have a full head rest on the crazy thick body. whisker thin mocha? head, its so thin the color is hard to pinpoint.

S- Roasted Malts and molasses, plum raisin background, some cold coffee way in the back.

T- Molasses hit first here followed by a rush of roasted malt that seems to slam the brakes right on black patent before heading into some of the coffee you could just barely get in the nose. That sudden jolt of harsher roasted malt though is your only warning this is a big boy beer. Though sweet, there is hardly any burn or notice of a 12% brew. Honestly reminds me of vintage DFH WWS, but not nearly as sweet.

M- Did I mention this was thick? the appearance of the pour lived up to the hype, huge chewy mouthfeel.

O-This was damn good. I honestly wouldn't have been disappointed had I paid $12 either, at that price though I am not a repeat buyer. If I see at 8 again, yeah I'll buy one for the cellar. For my personal taste though, I prefer a little less black patent like roastiness, but I'm sure some of that could disappear with age. Good bier!

A- Pours a viscous black into the glass and a small head forms. Head doesn't stay around too long and no lacing is left. Body is lively and leaves thick brown spots on the glass when swirled around.

S- Big roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and smoke round out the nose.

T- Smoke upfront that's followed by bitter chocolate and an earthy bitterness. Nice char and roast in the middle that leads to woody finish. Flavor is really nice and has lots going on

M- Thick and viscous with lower carbonation and feels right on the money for the style. Perfect cold weather sipper feel. Slick, oily finish

O- Really nice stout. Feel is incredible and taste has lots going on. I wish i had got another bottle to see how time treats it.
