Produced and canned by Westbrook Brewing Co. in SC.

Pours a hazy golden amber with a white head that has good retention. Slightly viscous appearance and more sediment than I expected at the bottom of the glass, but a pleasantly fulsome mouthfeel.

The complex aroma highlights both malts and hops : caramelized sweetness with a pine and citrus backbone, as well as a hint of earthiness. The flavour focuses on hop bitterness from start to end with a delightfully lingering finish. Even the initial malt sweetness has grapefruit elements.

Don't fully understand why accolades for this beer aren't shared between Evil Twin and Westbrook ... was in SC and wanted to buy SC beer - surprised by the Danish connection.

Pours amber with a fading head.
Nose shows orange marmalade, bready malt, sweet caramel. Pretty malty stuff.
Very hoppy flavours, but there's a lot of malt to back it up. Orange marmalade, pine, resinous notes, clean sweet malt.
Needs more carbonation.

Pours orange with good head and lacing.

Smell is grainy, some caramel, pineapple tarte tatin. Big rich malt backdrop on the nose. Has almost a nice aged-Barleywine complexity.

Taste is a nice candied pineapple/butterscotch. Fruity. Strongly and initially almost harsh bitterness, but cuts out nicely before it gets chemical-y.

Mouthfeel again has that harsh bitterness, but a bit sweet and highly carbed.

Overall I definitely enjoyed this.

Poured into a moustache pint glass while wearing plaid and listening to Bon Iver. Bottom of can says 11/07/12.

A- Pours an orangeish amber color with a 1/4 inch off-white head that doesn't retain long before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of bubbly surface foam. Slippery, semi-resilient lacing leaves clots behind on the glass. There are tiny specs of sediment suspended in the body.

S- Pleasant hoppy aroma with notes of pine and citrus and a bit of sweet malt. Slightly musty.

T- Quite bitter for a pale ale with more citrusy hops bringing a brightness to the profile. There is a sturdy buttery malt backbone but it's definitely light in contrast to the hops. Note of cracker, hint of grapefruit.

M- A bit dry with a lingering hop bite. Medium-low carbonation and a medium body.

O- A very nice hoppy pale ale that's still easygoing and not too intense. While it was a bit lacking in carbonation, I would definitely pick up a six-pack of this if the price wasn't so outrageous.

Poured from a 12oz can into a snifter

A: Pours a hazy, burnt orange color. There is a small, off-white head which fades quickly to almost nothing. No lacing.

S: Very light tropical aroma. Pineapple, mango and pear. There is a bit of grass as well.

T: The mango and pineapple from the aroma start off the flavor. A potent floral flavor provides a bitter counterpoint. There is also a bit of a medicinal taste. The finish is biscuity malt, mild alcohol and medicine/floral notes.

M: Medium bodied with low carbonation.

O: On the edge of being a good beer. I like the tropical flavors the hops provide, but not the medicinal flavors. The finish lingers with a not entirely pleasant bitter flavor.

Enjoyed this 12oz can out of a Belgian tulip glass.

A: Pours a copper hue with a thick, white, frothy head that slowly dissipates in to a wispy lace leaving a good trail down the side of the glass.

S: Malty caramel aroma up front followed a nice hoppy scent.

T: Equal mix of sweet caramel malt and hoppy bitterness. Finishes crisp and sweet.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: This was a solid pale ale – would pick this up again.

A: Dark orange, khaki head is creamy but flimsy and quick to dissipate. Good strong sense of carbonation and visible floaties. Lacing is modest.

S: Aroma of pine and caramel, grapefruit grind, with some underlying notes of leafy herbaceoucs scents. Grapey, viney notes with an all told fair and average offering for a pale.

T: Scotchy grapefruit and pine with some dry speciality grains. Decent level of dry hoppiness, though flavor spectrum is limited. Lemony-buttery caramel fade.

M: Good deal of malt depth, creamy, medium-full body, dry.

O: Overall not bad, slightly above average offering, dry, sweet with an alkaline finish. Decent with a high C rating feels about right. wouldnt go out of my way for.

Picked up a single 12 ounce can on my way home from work. Lets see how this matches up. Quite interesting can design.

Appearance: pours a light brown, amber, copper orange body. Not much in bubbles to the surface. Leaves behind a one inch head that is quite inviting and a good lacing that follows down until about half way down the glass. The golden, brown hue is almost virtually opaque. Not too bad.

Smell: creates a great, orange zest, with a slight hint of grapefruit peel. Almost a butter-like toffee that is mild at first, but virtually unnoticeable towards the end. Mild hop character is also noticeable. Quite balanced to be perfectly honest.

Taste: malt flavors are the first to be noticed. Not exactly complex, but a character of yeast and bread-like starch can be noticed. Great citrus peel and caramel help balance out the flavors. White grape is also mixed in but has some deep grassy flavors to bring out the hops. Rounds out with a very slight hint of honey to the undertone. Not too bad. Fits well.

Mouthfeel: light-medium body with medium carbonation. Finishes semi-dry and went down quite nice.

Overall: the can is what really grabbed my attention at first. I always feel like I'm a sucker for innovative or creative labeling. This time, it was not a bad find. The first sips were not bad. Typical pale ale, but provided something more. Sort of heavy on the palate from the rush of hops. Kind of bitter on towards the end. I would tr again and would recommend to a friend, considering the nice flavor and unique can design. Marketing got me again I guess. Cheers!

I like this beer. It's got a thick malt body with a nice level of hop influence that isn't overdone at all. I mean, sure, it could be more pronounced and louder with the hops, but this still works and is a pleasant drinker. Smooth feel. If only this were cheaper, they'd be selling a lot more of it, I'd wager. Heck, I'd buy a sixer of it.
