Poured into an Elysian snifter. Pours pitch black with no initial signs of carbonation, but just after the pour a thin film of light tan covered the glass and dissipated to a ring around the glass. Nice complex aroma of sweet toasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, dark dried fruit. Flavor follows with toasted malt, vanilla, licorice, chocolate and dark dried fruit, rather sweet. The ABV is completely undetectable, which is amazing. Heavy bodied and decent mouth feel, but I couldn't help but think how superb this would have been with some active carbonation. Guess you can't have everything, this is still an excellent complex imperial porter. I've enjoyed the whole Biscotti Break family and hope to see more.

Served on tap.
A - BLACK. Just a tiny area at the bottom of the glass showed a dark red-brown in the light. A good sized and very thick, creamy brown head that stuck around for a while.
S - Not unlike other quality porters. Lot's of malt, some roasted characters, and a faint alcohol aroma.
T - A damn good tasting porty. Very creamy but yet still drinkable. Lot's of malt noticed, especially up front. A fiar amount of chocolate and cocoa noticed in the aftertaste. Suprisingly, I couldn't notice any booze.
F - Thick as per usual with quality porters, but not too dry.
O - One of my new favorite porters. Damn good tasting, and actually somehwta refreshing. Creamier than most porters, yet remained very drinkable.. Highly recommended.

12 oz bottle poured into a nonic pint glass at cellar temperature.
L – Black color with a thin 1-finger rocky, brown head that dissipates relatively rapidly even with a vigorous pour. No lacing. Perhaps one of the redeeming factors of the appearance is the viscosity of the beer itself.
S – Tons of rich, dark, malty aromas such as dark chocolate, coffee, molasses, plums, raisins, currants, and a bit of soy sauce.
T – Much like the aroma, there’s tons of rich, dark, malty flavors starting with bittersweet dark chocolate, molasses, and some dark fruits like plums and raisins. As the taste progresses, more bitter, roasted coffee flavors come into play along with spicy, vinous phenols.
F – Medium-full-bodied, not much carbonation, a creamy, sticky, and velvety mouthfeel, and a spicy, bittersweet, somewhat dry, and somewhat hot finish. Bitter coffee and vinous, spicy phenol flavors linger and pair with a strong throat-warmth from the alcohol.
O – I know that styles don’t quite matter, especially when you’re talking stouts vs. porters, but the only thing that is like a porter about this one is the slightly thinner mouthfeel. This smells, tastes, and feels like an imperial stout. It certainly has the ABV for it. It smells very nice and tastes good, but drinkability suffers with the high ABV and strong throat-warmth. I’ve heard that this is the base beer for (Imperial) Biscotti Break and I’ll tell you, I much prefer this. It is not cloying at all and has more roasted character. Nice beer from Evil Twin.

(Served in a globe)
A- The jet black body has a thin deep cocoa tan head that fades to a ring.
S- The clean aroma has hints of inky black bitterness with some dark graham malt notes coming through with as it opens.
T- The mellow black roasted malt with a dry nougat hint in the finish with a touch of sweetness. There is a black bitterness that hints in the back of the throat and stays. There are some dark burnt toffee notes coming through as it warms.
M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a slight slippery texture that turns into a gentle fizz. There is no alcohol heat.
O- There are some nice hints of malt with some complexity but they are very faint and only come through when it is really warm in the last 3 oz.

Poured out as a deep black color with a mocha creamy head on top. The head settles a bit and leaves a moderate to light lacing on the glass. The smell of the beer is roasted and earthy, it's almost musty and charred. The taste of the beer is slightly sweet with a good amount of roast in there as well, more earthy robust flavors with a burnt bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel was dry, a little high in carbonation but heavy as well. Overall this beer was decent, not something I'd spend a lot of money on though.

Bottle from the man Andy, have never had this brew. 5/2013
Bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Allowed to warm up for max flavor and smell.
Says a "Porter" but it tastes like a Russian Imperial Stout. Classic, great flavors and smells. I would buy and drink it again.
