Notes:
The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

22 oz bottle courtesy of Kmccabe33 pours a mostly black color with a dark brown head. Creamy with spotty lacing gives it a pretty rich appearance overall.
Nose is chocolaty with a ton of roast coffee. Moderate sweetness and graham cracker maltiness. Smells good...and rich.
Taste is sweet and decadent with lots of coffee and brown sugar. It kind of tastes like a latte with an extra shot of espresso and gingerbread cookies. It kind of seems to emulate some of the Southern Tier brews with the high residual sugar and thick body, but not quite on the same level. This has sat in my fridge for about 4 months and it tastes like it might be better fresh, some of the coffee flavors are starting to become slightly vegetal, which I have noticed before in old(er) coffee beers. It is still quite tasty, but not quite as much as the last time I had a fresher sample.

A- Pours a thick oily black, with a beautiful dark brown head that recedes a little over time. It maps well as the glass empties.
S- The strong aroma of coffee is the first smell in this one. Then a faint hint of chocolate followed by the alcohol. Finishes with the smell of gooey prunes.
T- Tastes as black as it looks. The sweetness expected from the smell comes through first, immediately followed by the strong coffee. The %11.5 ABV is obvious. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing is up to you. I enjoyed the boozy taste.
M- Thick and oily, the light carbonation adds to the silky mouthfeel.
O- Overall this brew is a boozy, wonderful, and sweet imperial Stout. It lives up to everything the name says it is. Might be best to share this $16 bomber with friends, and save it for the end of your night.
