Notes:
The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a medium size dirty brown color head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of chocolate malt notes with some light caramel with some vanilla and Italian cookie notes. Taste is also dominated by chocolate malt notes with some vanilla and Italian biscuit notes with light dry roasted malt notes. Body is quite full with light creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Very impressive amount of complexity while retaining a good level of drinkability.

Pitch black with slight creamy chestnut head that passes no light. Patches of creamy lace and a viscous film cling to the snifter glass.

Lots of chocolate syrup, and some sweet black coffee not much else, but simplicity is a good thing here.

Sweet with a little bit of bitterness, while the alcohol is quite present long into the lingering finish. Chocolate and some background of roasted coffee. Chocolate returns in the finish. Warmth is a good friend of this beer.

Very high alcohol, yet smooth texture and little heat. There is little to know carbonation in this dense almost syrupy beer.

Truly one of those savored experiences. Biscotti is a surprisingly and dangerously easy drinking dessert beer good for watching people and sipping slowly.

Short light mocha head leaves a cap and collar.

Smells like Hershey's syrup.

Big time chocolate notes (cacao nibs), coffee is a little muted at this point present. Hides its ABV very well.

Mouthfeel is great. Super smooth, light on the palate with the carbonation level.

It just about doesn't get any better of a mouthfeel then this one, well integrated. Thanks TATURBO.

Thanks to angrybabboon for sharing the bottle.

Appearance: Pours a super thick black. Minimal red-tinged tan collar. What head manages to pull from the beer doesn't last. Still with a slight oily sheen.

Smell: A lot more pleasant than expected. Rich roasted malts. Some marshmallow and vanilla. Chocolate runs the full range, milk chocolate, dark, and cocoa. Big sweetness builds as it warms. Dark cherry. Toasted nuts. Legit cookie and marshmallow cream. Big backing alcohol. Caramel, toffee, and brown sugar. Fresh roasted coffee. A true kitchen sink approach.

Taste: Sharp slightly burnt cookies. Marshmallow and deeply roasted malts. Screams of bitter cocoa and baker's chocolate. Some.malt sweetness, but not nearly as much as I would expect from the nose. Almond/marzipan. Burnt coffee. Caramel and toffee. Some cherry and straight up vanilla bean. Rich and roasty. Cake batter.

Mouthfeel: Full and smooth. Roasted character adds some.dry elements. minimal carbonation. Not quite as full as I would have expected from the pour.

Overall: Give me a break, give me a break, break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar.

A big but ultimately balanced big ass beer. I dig the marshmallow almond thing. Solid.
