I had this on tap at Holy Hound, served chilled in a pint.

The color is a lightly hazed golden with thin white head which falls to a ring of small beads. The smell is mildly tropical with fruity element that is slightly citrus but tinged with sour white grapes and mild alcohol esters. the feel is not heavy, yet it has a strength and warming from the alcohol with mild spice and bitterness and very mild sweetness and carbonation.

The taste is good with some malt sweetness up front and a gently grassy and citrus tinged hop flavor with light tropical element with gentle tangy yeast accent and drying alcohol in the finish. Overall this was an interesting beer but it seems more of a concept than a truly great strong ale. The alcohol flavor comes through a little more than I like but the flavor is not bad.

Served in a snifter at Firkin.

"He's down by the creek, walkin' on water." I couldn't resist. Anyway, this stuff pours a clear golden-straw topped by a finger of off-white foam. The nose comprises boozy wheat, light powdered sugar, and a bit of vague fruit. Seriously, it's like walking into the produce section: you know there's fruit, but you can't figure out which ones are affecting your 'strils at any given moment. The taste brings in more of the same, with the booze certainly ratcheted-up and the odd fruitiness also gaining some heft. There's a touch of funkiness to the fruit now, but it's nearly negligible. The body is a straight medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, an interesting beer, but not one I would say succeeds at actually drinking all that well in any real sense. I'm glad I got to try it, but I'm also glad that I'll likely never have it again.

Bottle purchased from Liquor Express in Huntsville, AL.. don't know how a 14% ABV made it into AL, but no complaints :) Poured into a Stella Artois chalice at about 40 degrees on 3/30/13.

Has a good golden color with not much of a head to it. Can see some carbonation in the glass.

I actually detected some complexity on the nose but it was kind of understated. I could detect a faint hint of booze, but definitely smelled some citrus. Oranges, lemongrass, but not "in your face" and overly bold about it. I

Taste.. first couple of pulls had a definite citrus and sugary feel to it. Lemongrass, oranges, floral notes, and a little bit of booze. For being such a high ABV, the booze taste is actually pretty minor.

Mouthfeel: I thought that it had a lighter mouthfeel especially considering everything that's going on here.

Granted a bottle of this stuff is going to set you back, but I actually think it's getting some underrated reviews here. Very drinkable but you can definitely detect some complexity.

Reading the other reviews below I can hardly believe we are talking about the same beer. This beer is dry as a bone, the first tastes are high-zoot dry champagne, dry cider, dry mead. No hops evident to me at all, the high alcohol sweetness that should be there is gone in one second. I served this to over 50 people tonight in a fairly sophisticated beer crowd and got opinions from about half of them. They all agreed it is an extraordinary beer, not really like anything else we have ever had.

This is a very unique beer; I hardly can call it a beer but leaning towards a Belgian Strong Ale since there are no grapes, apples or honey in this. Again, I don't really think there are any hops either, IMHO. What is it? 1 IBU? Fantastic dry finish, just wipes the palate clean, and some nice bubbly carbonation to tickle afterwards.

What an incredibly odd beer, I like it, hope you get the chance to try it.

Bottle purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne. Collaboration between To Øl and Mikkeller. Shared with my bro Sam.

Pours a cloudy golden hue with flecks of orange. Head is pretty fluffy, but relatively minor. Some speckled lace forms when the beer is swirled, as does a decent amount of carbonation. Body is indeed quite light, but it has a residual weight to it which cause the carbonation to be very languid. Overall, it looks pretty good.

Nose is pleasantly sharp with hops, and some booze, but really only a suggestion. Lots of orange peel, marmalade, a hint of tonic water and a little hay like grassiness. It's actually rather pleasant, and remarkably subdued.

Taste is also similar. Sweet marmalade character mingled with some fruity, citric hops, a little tea, some white pepper and some sweet sugar characters. There's some booze, but it's quite muted: indeed, it's more of a feeling than an actual flavour. In many other respects it seems extremely approachable and really quite easy drinking.

Feel is smooth and light, but with that tingle of booze.

Drinkability-wise this is quite extraordinary. I think it's a really nice, supple and drinkable brew. And yet it's 14% alcohol? That's insane. I could believe maybe 8%, but this is really shockingly light and refreshing for how big it is. And that's some masterful work.

This poured out as a slightly hazed yellowish gold color. The head was white and held a good retention from start to finish. The lacing on this beer was pretty impressive too for being 14% ABV. The smell of the beer reminds me of DfH 120 for some reason. I feel that the hop aromas and the big boozy heat coming off of this one give a close comparison to that beer. There isn't much in the way of malt aroma here it's just hops and booze. The taste of the beer is hoppy as well. The citrus powers this beer right along. The aftertaste isn't as nice because I keep tasting plastic/latex on the back of my tongue. The mouthfeel is pretty drinkable for as big of a beer as it is. The carbonation is good also. Overall this is a beer that I think should be cellared for a year or two then sampled again. When it's fresh it's pretty strong, lots of in your face flavors as well as a ton of booze heat. Time might do this beer some good. Right now it's wicked strong.

On-tap. ½ pt glass. Enjoyed on agt´12. Pure gold in color. Chill haze. White, creamy foam creates a close fairly good retention crown as long as collars on sides. Fresh aromas: floral, herbal, citric, tropical fruit & pineapple. Gentle malty upfront followed by citric flavor & apple tartar touch. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation. Cider notes in the middle & evident warming alcohol lingers into your throat. Fruity finish. Warm & tartaric aftertaste. Watch up! Unexpected high ABV from a blonde one.

Pours amber with a small head.
Very malty aroma but also a fair bit of piny and grapefruit-like hops.
Sweet flavours at first, lots of clean malt. Then pine and grapefruit roll through followed by a aggressive bitterness and lots of overt booze.
Too much carbonation.
Booze dominates this one.

It appears shockingly normal! A 14% "bright ale" that looks like an everyday IPA. It's orange and opaque; clear-looking, but you can't see through it! Fizz and all is good. The smell is sorta weird: definitely DON'T get hops in the nose from this hop-lookin' brew. A little lemon, but definitely some solventy, chemically, alcoholic aromas to it. It smells like the 100% attenuation experiment it is.

The taste is as the nose suggests in that it's a strong, medicinal lemon ball of a beer. The mouthfeel is a zingy (lemon) yet strong experience. It's a paradox in that it IS thin (less dense than water?) while it TASTES thick. It's definitely a novelty brew...but aren't they all these days? At $7 for a 14%er, I'd say its an agreeable encounter.

Thanks to Chris (spycow) for sharing this experimental brew. A 14%, 1 IBU beer that is apparently less dense than water? Uh, OK? Served in a Russian River tulip.

A - White foam settles to a thick collar, wisps, and a few specks of lace. Lightly hazed blonde body. Certainly LOOKS like a light beer.

S - Booze. Fusels galore here, particularly as it warms up. Beyond that, there's some nebulous sugar malts and a hefty dose of herbal and citrus dry-hop aroma. Unfortunately combining pine, citrus, and unabashed alcohol gives this a cleaning solvent type of aroma; not totally irredeemable though.

T - The taste is less boozy than the aroma, and there's surprising balance considering there is only 1 IBU; this isn't cloying at all. Sugary malts and fruity yeast appear to be balanced by alcohol bitterness instead, with a touch of walnut.

M - Goes down shockingly easy. Dry and chewy medium body, with unobtrusive moderate carbonation. Fairly clean finish, and restrained alcohol warmth. Definitely the best thing about the beer.

D - It's better than I expected, but it's still not very good. I struggled through a few ounces and then gave up; make sure you have 4-6 people on hand to tackle a 12oz bottle. You might get similar results blending a hoppy pale ale with vodka though.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark yellow color and a hazy consistency. There was an inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Pretty good lacing.

S: Interesting aroma of citrus, yeast, malt, and some booze.

T: Tasted of citrus (a good amount of lemon, light hops, malt, grain, some Belgian yeast, and, as expected, booze. I'm not sure what to make of this flavor. It's an interesting concoction, but also off-putting at the same time. Odd, but drinkable.

M: A highly carbonated beer with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This was definitely worth trying, but it's probably not a beer I'd readily go back to.

A foggy light amber, an off-white small head leaving little lacing and - actually - small curtains. Had not expected that at 14%, might indicate a small body.

Smells lemon soda ("citronvann"), lemon detergent, cleansing agents.

An alcoholic sweetness (like pure alcohol), some grass notes, clean oil.

Medium carbonation, a bit "ethereal", small body, a dry acidity.

An interesting science experiment, but it is not IMHO a good beer.

This brew is a collaboration between to øl and mikkeller
Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into a duvel glass

A: pours a ligh golden with a hint of orange, and 3/4 of a finger of white head that dissapates quickly and leavs some spots of lacing.

S: grain and citrus, not as boozy of an aroma as I expected considering the abv, and the aroma is remarkably dry as well, not much sweetness the aroma at all, there is however a strang twang that I cannot quite out my finger on, it reminds me of white wine vinegar almost, along with a grainy herbalness. Not the greatests nose, interesting, but not all that pleasing.

T: almost exactly like the nose, boozy light citrus notes along with a string grainy flavor, I get melon and cantaloupe like notes, and again, a little bit fainter then in the nose, I get the strange almost white wine vinegar like note along with some herbalness.

M: slightly viscous with lower carbonation, a touch of creamyness, remarkably dry considering the Abv, not much sweetness at all, interesting

O: an interesting brew, although not that appealing, at least to me, overall. The beer has an interesting idea behind it, just not the most delicious brew.
