This is a pub that is over 100 years old, but it has (in Autumn of 2010) been reopened under new management serving craft beer. On tap (apart from the usual macro brews) they serve Staropramen, Old Speckled Hen, Galway Hooker and Harlows Lager on tap. They also have a decent bottled beer menu with German, US, UK and Belgian imports. It is a terrific addition to a town where, until very recently the locally produced Galway Hooker could not be found.

The place itself fronts on to the main square in Roscommon town. There is another entrance/exit in the side alleyway directly across from Jacksons restaurant and guest house (also serves Hooker). As you enter through the front door, there are two tiny snugs on either side. Go through the second door into the main bar are (In olden times a grocery shop and bar). There is another area in the back with a big screen for TV sports events and a DJ at weekends.

FOOTNOTE: they have installed a beer engine and have a cask offering on a fairly regular basis (ask!). April 2012.
