The atomosphere was quaint and cozy with some physchodelic looking paintings that were interesting discussion pieces. Small tables, and not much seating, but a friendly and inviting place. A covered patio with outdoor seating was very nice as well. This used to be Fort Collins Brewery until they outgrew it.
The quality was great. They specialize in saisons, and belgians. Everything was much more subtle than I expected which was a pleasant surprise for me. I enjoyed all of their beers. Nothing was overly sour or out of balance.
The selection was great, especially considering thier size. They had around 10 different beers.
I got some of their cheese and it wasn't near as funky as I expected either coming from somewhere that puts funk in their name. It was, however, delicious, mild, and creamy and complimented the beer.
The cheese was pricey, but reasonable and the beer was very reasonably priced. Great little hangout.

Stopped by on my latest trip to Fort Collins. If I was going to only hit one beer place in Ft. Collins this was going to be it. Saisons and sours are my favorite styles of beer and I had heard good things. High expectations.
Took me a bit to realize its located in the old Fort Collins Brewery, which I always thought was a bit of a bear to find. We walked in and every table along with all the seats at the bar will filled. Guess they do a fairly kicking after work business. Luckily, a table soon opened up and we order both flights (Funkwerks and Crooked Stave) along with the 3 or so specialty beers that weren't included in the flights (Cherry Saison and Citra Saison were two of them). Every single beer on the flight I thought were top notch. Really, top notch. Its amazing, when you go to a brewery where you like everything they do. Tropic King, Saison and Witt were all great. The Citra and Cherry Saisons were some of the best I've ever had. My only complaint was they wouldn't fill growlers for me of either. The service was good, promptly got new beers when we needed them. This was a blast. I ended up going back a couple times. This is definitely going to be my second place to go, everytime I'm back.

This is easily one of the most funkiest colored and warm looking breweries I've been to.
In a small industrial section, behind service roads for auto parts shops, is a very green and purple and yellow looking building.
Once inside the place is filled with warmth and lots of bright sun. It is small, but there is attention to detail here. Vintage replica bar counter is 50s boomerang, the chairs are nicely shapped, and the wall is painted a soothing green with circular bright tap handles that showcase their beer.
I haven't tried every single breweries beers in Colorado, but this one was certainly my favorite. Their takes on saisons are really nice and balanced, many bursting with aromas (Passion Fruit Montagne was particularly wonderful on the nose).
The service is very cherrful and solid, and the front staff know their product. Selection is about 10 on tap beers and bottles, with maybe 2 guest taps, but I wouldn't come here to drink anything else but Funkwerks.
Easily my favorite brewery to go drink a beer in, worth a return visit if in the area.

Stopped by this small brewpub on a recent trip to Fort Collins. A few different locals recommended this place to me and I'm very happy that I decided to check it out.
The place is pretty small with one small room that has a few tables and a small bar with around 8-10 seats. There is also an outside patio area which was really nice this time of year. The walls are painted a light teal color which really lightens the place up in the daytime. There are also a few paintings adorning the walls and a rack for merch. I also spotted a cooler for bottles but unfortunately everything was sold out. Behind the bar there are the tap handles and a large chalkboard with the draft list, growler and merch prices, and snack options. There is also a small hallway that you can walk down which gives you a view of the brewing equipment, bottling line and barrels.
I didn't eat anything here but what was available sounded good. They don't really offer a menu per se, just some snacks like chocolate or nuts but they did have an interesting sounding cheese plate that I would try if I ever get a chance to go back.
This place is pretty small so there was only one person working there but the service was excellent. When I arrived the place was pretty empty and the woman Laura who was behind the bar was very welcoming and friendly. She was very knowledgeable about the beers and the saison style and answered all of my annoying questions. The place became more crowded as the afternoon went on but she handled it without any problems.
Although they mainly focus on saisons, they had a great variety and also a few other options. They offer two different flights, full glasses, half glasses and growler fills. I really appreciated this because I wanted to try a bunch of different beers but didn't want to have to drink eight full glasses. The flights were the best deal I have ever seen. $8 for four glasses which turned out to be their regular tulip filled up about a third of the way. They offered a light version for the traditional saisons, session, white beers and a darker version for more malt forward beers. While I was there I was able to try a session beer, a wild apricot saison, their flagship saison, an imperial hoppy saison, a witbier, two other German and Belgian styled beers and some crazy collaboration beer between 9 local Fort Collins breweries. I really enjoyed everything I had and would rank them from good to excellent.
Overall, I loved this place and wished I lived closer. The friendly service, quaint laid back atmosphere and great beer make this a great beer destination. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

The place is small, but it is nice inside. metal bar, metal chairs and tables. they had 6 of their beers on. all of them good. some of them great.
the service was great, but that is probably because i was the only one there. but the bartender/front end manager was very friendly.
they only had the saison bottled when i was there, and i wish i would have bought more. i was told they are going to be getting more beer on soon from someone else who is brewing there, and it will be some sour stuff. but i was more than happy with just their 6 offerings. i also thought the prices were good. a place you could probably drink at for a while without spending a ton.
i didnt eat there, and i think they only have snacks to offer. i would definitely eat before you show up.
i will stop by here every time i am in fort collins.

A cool little place that is very laid back and chill. A handful of beers on tap; the only two staples being their Saison and Tropic King. The rest rotate, some stay longer than others with their weekly special kegs being around the shortest (duh!). Service is decent; prompt and helpful. The quality of the beer is great, like I have come to expect from FW. If you want a local Belgian styled beer no place in Colorado does it better than these guys. My biggest gripe was that they didn't offer growlers. That said, probably my favorite taproom to hit up here in Fort Collins.

my favorite of the fort collins stops so far. tiny multicolored tap room with a great outdoor patio. very cozy feel going on. maybe 7 beers on tap, all of them outstanding, and the head brewer on hand to share his latest creation from the back room, which i wont give away, but you will like it. some local cheeses on offer to compliment the beers. sampler was an amazing deal, 7 2/3 full tulips for maybe 9 bucks, sensational. ive always like their beers, and i like them even more after this visit. not to be missed!

In the old Fort Collins Brewery building, this is a small place that can seat about 40 stuffed. An L-shaped small bar is where we plopped down. Friendly service and a clear beer menu. The selection is ok, given that they really only serve specialty Wallonian influenced beers.
I got the flight sampler of six beers for $8, and wow what a deal. Throw in some cheese and crackers for $8 more and you have yourself a nice little experience. The tulip glasses were about 1/3 full and provided a nice presentation. We (well, I) chatted with the nice bartender about punk rock and concerts.
The beers were good and if you're a Belgian style of beer type of person, this place is for you. These really aren't my thing, but I will have to stop in here every time I'm in the Fort. Nice place, great beer and people.

Stop #250 on my world brewery tour.
Visited on a Friday around 12:30 the week of GABF. Got the only open table in the small tasting room moments before the Ale Street News bus tour arrived filling the room to capacity.
There were nine beers available. I believe all of them use their house saison yeast with varying malt, hops, adjuncts, and wild yeast.
You have the option of flight 1 or flight 2 in terms of pre built samplers....
Flight 1
Key Lime Rye - rye & barley malt with key lime juice
Saison - flagship saison
Motif - high gravity saison
Hiiscus Resistance - hibiscus added to Resistance
Flight 2
Cochon - Cascade & Centennial, house saison meets APA
Southern Tropic - imperial saison w/ Rakau hops
Chardonnay Barrel Blonde - brett beer
Belgian Resistance - German Munich and Noble Hops
We went with flight 2. While the descriptions are vivid, the actual flavors were very subtle and some of the beers we had difficulty determining the written descriptions.
They had quite a few barrels in the back room and I hope that leads to some Belgian style's with bugs and critters a year or so down the road.
A small, cozy brewery tap room that is right up my alley specializing in Belgians.

Located in the former location of Fort Collins Brewery and right down the street from both Fort Collins' new location and Odell, I'd been meaning to stop by and try this place for a while. As it's the same location, the setup of the tasting room is similar to Fort Collins when it was there, but the decor is a little more earthy and organic, less industrial and it certainly fits the beer style. Funkwerks brews saisons, so you get a collection of fruitier, spicier beers that most likely will be popular with any fans of New Belgium, also not far away. That taster we sampled had six beers and pretty good sized samples. We sampled the Saison, White, Maori King, Casper, French Resistance, and Belgian Resistance, with varying spicy notes and sweetness.
Our bartender/server was fast, friendly, and knowledgeable of the types of beers served, what goes into them, and even just what it is "Funkwerks" means. Hopefully, this place catches on because I would like to take many more trips here. Unlike the also fledgling brewery Equinox, the location isn't as ideal, but since another successful brewery was in that location previously and Fort Collins always seems to be open to more craft beer, it probably has a shot.
The only downside is the price for a growler is around $20 right now. Hopefully, as they become more established, the prices for a fill goes down, since that's usually the way I support my local breweries.
