Had on tap at Beer Co.

Beer pours a nice dark brown with a good amount of tan head.

Beer smells strongly of bourbon and sweet vanilla. Also hints of dark chocolate.

Beer tastes very roasty on the initial sip, mainly of dark chocolate, followed by a nice vanilla sweetness and slight bourbon taste. Very little boozy taste. Very delicious.

Beer is thick with a bit of carbonation.

Very surprised by this. Much better than I would have thought it would be. Highly recommended

On tap at The Beer Co. on Halloween night, 10/31/11

A: Rich, dark brown with a 1.5 finger head and a great, creamy head. Massive lacing rims the glass.

S: Toasty bourbon, vanilla, warm coconut, dark roast and malt.

T: Really, really solid. Lots of the Heaven Hill bourbon character comes out, and it's delicious. Everything I dig in a bourbon barrel beer is here in quantity.

F: Well done. It doesn't compare to some of the more well known RIS's, but rich and creamy none the less.

O: The Beer Co's Colonel Flether's is a great beer. I hope this is a sign of things to come, as this is one I'd highly recommend to anyone who has access to it.

Will explain when I get back to a keyboard. Touch screen is too difficult. In the meantime, this is excellent.

Thanks for sharing this, Shane.

A: The beer pours black in color with a small layer of tan foam.

S: A very sweet aroma to this. Lots of bourbon and vanilla along with plenty of chocolate, toffee, and molasses. There is a touch of booze/heat and strangely prominent banana and coconut notes.

T: The flavor has just a mild roasted malt character with plenty of toffee, caramel, and brown molasses. Lots of vanilla and bourbon flavors add to the sweetness of it. Very mild coffee and booze.

M: Medium bodied with a medium level of carbonation.

O: I thought this was a pretty solid imperial stout, especially one from a brewery that I've (somehow) never heard of.

On tap at The Beer Company. One third of this batch was aged in Heaven Hill barrels for four months.

A: Black as pitch with a light brown head.

S: Coconut, dark chocolate, and vanilla waft from the glass with each swirl. Bourbon is strong sometimes, and restrained other times. Caramel is evident, with accompanying brown sugar. Coffee is faint. Really good.

T: Dark chocolate and cocoa with pronounced coconut and vanilla notes. Coffee is an afterthought, and bourbon is wonderfully integrated. Sweetness is at a moderate level and there's a dash of brown sugar. The beer possesses a moderate earthy bitterness with light blackstrap molasses notes accompanying caramel. The bourbon chocolate coconut vanilla finish ushers in oak and finishes dry. This is great.

M: Full body with moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is thick, chewy, and silky.

Overall: This beer took me by surprise. This is a high quality stuff.
