Notes:
A clear and simple expression of the delicate interplay between noble hops and farmhouse yeast. Throughout Northern Europe, light-bodied, well-hopped, low alcohol table beers were often the beverage of choice with all meals at times and in places where the water wasn’t always safe to drink.

Jester King Le Petit Prince

Pours a hazy straw color. Effervescent champagne like head with a lot of carbonation in the glass.
Sour grape tartness and funk in the smell.
Taste is great. A bit of funk, a touch of hops and a bunch o bubbles. Very good for 2.9% ABV. Drank the whole bottle without a buzz. This would make a great thirst quencher in the summer.

Buy again.

750 ml bottle. Served in a tulip-like glass, the beer pours a hazy straw gold color with an inch and a half white head (after a slow pour). Head retention is excellent, and there's a lot of lacing. The brew smells like wheat/grainy malt, yeast, peppery spice, grassy hops, and some lemon peel. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, there's some nice light tartness in this brew, along with the grainy/yeasty flavors. Mouthfeel/body is light, it's easy to drink and quite refreshing. It's also well carbonated. I'd certainly buy this again in the future. $7.99 a bottle.

750 mL bottle poured into a tulip at cellar temperature.

L – Cloudy pale gold color with a 3-finger bubbly, rocky, white head. Great retention and some nice lacing.

S – Grainy and bready malt and wheat, prominent lemongrass, peppery and coriander yeast, and just a bit of Brett musty funk. It smells very light and crisp.

T – Follows the nose pretty closely. It starts off with sweet bready, cereal-like malt and wheat and picks up a mildly tart lemon flavor as the taste progresses. At the finish, there’s mild spicy, earthy, and floral hop bitterness. There's not much funk here except for maybe the slightest hint at the very finish. Tasty.

F – Light-bodied, great carbonation, a crisp and somewhat creamy mouthfeel, and an earthy, slightly bitter, and moderately dry finish. Earthy and mildly spicy hop bitterness lingers for a few seconds.

O – This is an interesting beer. It has one of the lowest ABVs I’ve ever seen at 2.9% but it still manages to hold up in the aroma and taste department. Of course the beer is drinkable as hell with the low ABV, but the creamy mouthfeel shows that it’s not just carbonated water. This really is the ultimate summer session beer: low ABV, bready and citrusy aroma and flavor, crisp and creamy mouthfeel, and enough yeast to add some complexity. Jester King deserves a lot of credit for making a beer worth drinking at this strength.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into tulip glass

A- Pours a 2 finger, bright white, lacy head. Golden, straw colored. Small/Medium carbonation bubbles. Head lasts for approx 1 min, much lacing.

S- Macintosh apples, fresh honey, a little funk but very slight.

T-Crisp, light, dry. A little barnyard character on the finish, but tastes remarkably like seltzer water. Very subdued bitterness. Watered down Pilsner qualities.

M- A little thin. I didn't expect much body from a 2.9% beer, but this seems to be purposefully subdued. It would be great to go with crepes on a dry hot afternoon on a patio overlooking the bustle of a city.

O- I think this beer has a place, for sure. Is that place only on a picnic in the summer-time? Maybe. Difficult to "get-into" because it doesn't offer a lot. It's like a beige wall. It's not meant to stand out, but the room would feel too plain if it was "just white". I don't hate it, but I would caution anyone looking for something in this beer, other than "wet".
