The Barbary is a popular Philadelphia spot for young people to dance on the weekends, but now there is an upstairs bar ("Barbarella") that serves decent beers in a really cool space. The bar is accessed through a wooden door just to the left of the big "Barbary" sign.

As you walk up stairs, you bar and DJ station greets you from above. A nicely decorated black chalkboard lists the draft and bottle selection. As with any bar in this fair city, they have a Citywide special of PBR and a shot of Beam, but they also had a good selection from Yards, PBC, Victory, and a Dock Street Beer. The bartender was appropriately chatty and seemed to genuinely care how I was when he asked. The other bar staff checked up on us while we were playing pool and even comped a non-drinker friend's diet coke.

The food is supposed to be pretty good, but we didn't try any. Next time I go, if I get food, I'll update that part of my review.
