From BeerAdvocate Magazine Volume II, Issue I:

Not only is Yuengling Porter one of the originals in the US, they are one of the largest brewers of the style as well. Very dark and inviting, a few shades away from pitch black. Modest tan head crackles down to a short lace that does cling to the glass a bit. Sweet aroma of dark caramel, slightly charred wood and toasted cocoa beans. Creamy medium body has just enough crispness and smoothness to get by. Dry cocoa powder in the palate to start, mellow, but flavorful. Hint of caramel and a very mild burnt grain tone. Hop bitterness keeps the sweetness in check but never becomes a trait to notice, quick kiss of citric flavor middle to end. Tasty semi-dry choco-goodness in the finish.

Yeah, go ahead and call it middle of the road, but this is one of the most drinkable porters around, with a good dose of flavor to boot.

Got this in a make your own 6 pack at the local grocery store.

Smelled some wintery carmel notes, and hops, maybe a little chocolate

Taste actually surprised me, it is surprsingly a mooth initial taste but then the after taste was a little bitter. Was expecting a completely bitter beer. The mouth feel was a little bitter but balanced. Very complex need to have another in order to get a better feel for the brand and style but this beer made me want to have another.

Another solid brew from a solid brewery.
