A - see through, pale, gold with a thin, fizzy, white head that fades in an instant

S - musty, faint grass, faint citrus

T - almost no flavor on the front end, but then there is a very bitter finish; there are some hints of citrus throughout if you look hard enough

M - medium bodied, very crisp, over carbonated

Well, this certainly isn't the best pale ale out there. It could definitely use a boost of flavor. It's also over carbonated which make it lighter than it should be. Overall, I'm not disappointed that I tried this, but I won't be buying it again.

Green bottle. Very nice color, nice bubbling carbonation with a clean white head that fades quickly but with nice lacing. The nose is just okay. Tastes and feels rather thin, although I do like what Yuengling did with the hops. That being said, it bears little to no resemblance to the other APA's out there. Costs less, tastes that way.

A- Fizzy, transparent, pale golden colored body with a frothy bone white head.

S- Some grains come through with almost no hop presence to speak of.

T- Almost tastes like an old watered-down IPA. All that comes through for me are grainy flavors along with a slight sweetness.

M- High carbonation, light bodied, very crisp and easy to drink.

O- Not sure how this fell into the APA category. Not a terrible beer, but below average compared to most APAs.

A - Light golden in color. Appears to be heavily carbonated. Head is thin and whispy. Settles quickly and slightly laces the glass.

S - Cereal grains and a light estery fruitiness. Very subdued other than the grains. A little metallic and skunky. Reminiscent of a german pils although this is an ale..

T - OK, the ale is coming through here. More malty than I expected though again restrained. A nice hop bitterness is present and lends a crisp and dry finish. A very subtle caramel from modified malts is peeking into the glass. Hops are of a noble variety rather than typical American. Very earthy and subtle hop flavor.

M - Aggressively carbonated. Mouthfeel is light but not as light as I expected.

O - I started with low expectation and came away a little impressed. This looks like any American Macro Pilsner but there is definitely more here than that. This might be a great 6 pack to knock down while playing some garage poker. A crisp bitter finish makes you want to really knock them back.

A: a single finger frothy white head on a cloudy golden with crimson hues body.

S: musty pale malts and grains, more adjunct lager like than APA.

T: more pale malts and grains. musty with a bit of funk and a bit earthy.

M: light to medium body and moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: not really an APA. Not off putting, tolerable but not very flavorful.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

A very sudsy but in control white head, with lots of large bubbles, but some very good staying power if falling slowly. A very pale amber body, almost yellow kind of even green but fairly clear too with some slow rising carbonation. Looks almost like a macro lager but not quite, not too bad here but probably the lightest pale ale I've seen to date.

Nose is an interesting grainy smell, herbal lime tea and hop sensation. Kind of sweet too, with a faint crisp malt sense. Different, interesting.

On the palate though this really dissapoints. Seltzery body and a big blast mostly of carbon dioxide like gas. Extremely wet, faint grainy malts and a not fun astringent finish. Some sense of herbal citrus sweetness on the finish but hard to get through the gaseousness of it.

Overall I was expecting this to be a lot better after having smelled it, but it was quite disappointing. I can't see myself having this or wanting to drink another again.

Well, I had high hopes for this one from Yuengling considering it a legitimate style, but it disappoints. Smells like a Heineken right off the bat. Pretty skunky and lots of rice and corn in there too. Appearance is straw yellow like an adjunct lager with little to no head or lacing.

Tastes pretty much like a Heineken too. Very light in flavor with the only detectable flavors being the cereal grains. Slight skunky flavor similar to a German or Czech pils. Very misleading for an APA, and it is probably mislabeled. Mouthfeel is light and watery.

Overall, not a great beer, but if it's real hot out and you get this brew really, really cold, it wouldn't be too bad.

Its Alright. Very basic of ales. Poured into cup nothing more than expected smell very light hardly noticeable. Taste not much to say here except maybe a tad skunky and a bit watery at the same time. Anyway would not go out my way to try one. If someone gave me one I would not turn it down but I would not go out and purchase this beer.

Had this at a party, and drank it straight from the bottle. Recorded the beer quality on shitty ass 2006 cell phone.

Appearance: While I was drinking straight from the bottle, I did, however, pour a bit of it down the drain of a sink, and noticed a golden color. Can't comment on the head, though, and the lacing on the inside of the bottle was ok.

Smell: Actually hoppy, but more piney than citrusy. A very slight malt/caramel hint.

Taste: Pretty balanced taste of very light malts and hops, a bit of indiscernible spice, and that signature Yuengling metallic tinge.

Mouthfeel: Light body and high carbonation, easy drinker, chugged it down in no time.

Overall: A decent beer that's very similar to Yuengling traditional, just a bit more hopped up.

12oz. bottle: This one pours a clear, straw yellow color. There was a bit of a white head on it that doesn’t linger long or leave much lacing. Aroma is OK. Bit of an earthy corn aroma with light malts. Taste is OK. Some malts and corn, a hint of lemon, and a touch of bitterness. Not great, but not bad either.

During a recent trip to Ohio I had a chance to try the Lord Chesterfield. This beer seemed more like an English Pale than an American. Pours golded with a thick white foamy head, smell is wheaty. Taste is grassy and wattery. Mouthfeel is pretty boring. Overall it is pretty easy to down but so boring you won't want another glass.

Poured from bottle into pint glass

A- straw in color with a good two finger head that left lacing

S- Honestly kinda skunky.

T- Grainy and malty with a hop finish

M- Light and carbonated

O- I have to wonder if I had a bad bottle due to the skunky smell, drinkable but won't want again.

A: Clear yellow with half a finger of solid, white head and incredibly active, fizzy carbonation rapidly rising to the top.

S: Smells skunky upon first whiff. Relatively clean otherwise.

T/M: Nice buttery, malty backbone with the lightest hop tinge at the end and tingly carbonation. Medium bodied and slick.

D: The opening released a whiff of skunk that turned me a bit away, but after that smell dissipated it turned out to be quite a delicious, drinkable, relaxing brew.

Pours a light lager straw color with a moderately sized head. Aroma is of musky corn with a faint malty background. Smells more like an adjuncts lager than anything else. Taste is of grassy malts, but not in a delicious way, more of a "this tastes like grass" way. A very faint hop presence can be detected as well. Mouthfeel is light thin an carbonated. Overall it's a subpar ale that I don't mind buying because it's cheap, and the fact I work for a n eponymous county makes it a nifty drink. If you have no connection to anything Chesterfield related and have money to spare, avoid and get something better.

Bottle poured into a pint glass.

The beer pours a slightly richer color than your average macro lager does (I realize this is an ale, just a comparison in color.) The head was big and white and bubbly and left some decent lacing on the glass. The aroma is mild hops with a husky grainy sweetness to it. The taste is smooth and light with a decent and very mild hop bitterness. The hops lend just a very slight citric flavor and balance the sweetness quite well. The mouthfeel is crisp and light and very refreshing. This beer is a possibly my favorite brew from Yuengling. For the price it is not bad at all and it is very easy to drink. The flavor is obviously lacking in comparison to Sierra Nevada and Troeg's and other comparable breweries, but this isn't too bad for a Yuenger.

I liked Chesterfield for what it is. Not a bold beer but pours clear yellow gold with a fizz white head that does lace some. Not a fan of the green bottle though.

Aroma is faint grassy biscuit.

Taste starts the same with some bready hints of lemon citric and a slight hop.

Easy and crisp on the mouth with a dry finish.

Overall a bland beer, accouple can be had with a burger just fine.

The beer pours a very light, clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is full of skunky malt. Why, oh why must beers be bottled in green bottles? The flavor is also very heavy on the skunk, with a little bit of grass mixed in from the hops. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A skunky mess that I would avoid until they learn that green bottles are bad for beer.

A: Pours a clear gold with a big, bubbly white head that laces fairly deep into the glass.

S: Faint aromas of lemony, grassy hops and pine sap are present on the nose. Not impressive in the least.

T: Fleeting notes of pine, minerals, lemon, and grass are present. The finish is extremelky short with notes of lemon and pine. If you're looking for depth, look elsewhere.

M: Light-bodied, dry, and spritzy. Carbonation is very active, almost to the point of being harsh and distracting.

O: I hesitate to call this an APA. In my mind, this beer has more in common with some American blonde ales. There just isn't much to this one. Not recommended.

Appearance is golden and clear. Very nice.

Smell is light with some slight hop and ....biscuit?

Taste is clean, crisp and there are actual hops in the FLAVOR. Not sure when we started spelling it with a u.

Mouthfeel is CARBONATION and crispness. Like ginger ale feels.

Overall, I like it. It is not today's ale. More ale from "back in the day".

Poured the beer from a bottle into a wide-mouthed glass.

-Appearance 3.0: Deep golden color, with a nice half-inch head. Smaller carbonation bubbles than its label-mate Lager.

-Smell 4.0: Very pleasant smell with the unmistakable alkaline aroma of hops. Nice grains and yeast aromas are noticeable.

-Taste 4.0: Somewhat sweet, but a wonderful hop-fueled bitterness present. Big, barley taste also. No discernible adjuncts. Very refreshing.

-Mouthfeel 3.5: Feels very "juicy" in the mouth, but some dry notes are present after swallowing. A nice, even level of carbonation. Almost feels bottle conditioned (which I know it isn't).

-Overall 4.0: "Chesty" is a darn good beer. Hard to find in some places, but worth tracking down. This is an IPA and a great one at that. Usually a little cheaper than other IPAs, which, to a skin-flint like me, just adds to its appeal.

Pours a pale yellow color with a fizzy head reminiscent of American adjunct lager. This beer is so clear that I can see the other side of the room through it. Taking a whiff - surprise - I get a lot of that corny grain smell.

The taste has some corny sweetness to it with almost no hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is very thin and overall this is a bland beer. It's inoffensive, at least.

The best thing this beer has going for it is that it's as light as an AAL without tasting as bad. (I realize that's an incredibly backhanded compliment.) I won't be seeking it out again, but I certainly wouldn't turn it down if offered. If I were to throw a party and didn't want to be spend a lot of money, I'd consider getting this.

Very light golden yellow pour with fluffy white head which held longer than I thought it would reading other peoples reviews. Smells very skunky like a Heineken. I have always heard that green bottle beware, I generally try to not listen to those phobias but I'm starting to think that it is true that most beers that come in green bottles are skunked. Don't get me wrong, I am not opposed to a little skunk I think it can add good qualities to a brew. The taste got me on this one, after that smell I was expecting the worst but was instead greeted by a nice strong hop flavor with some sweet malt to back it and that skunk smell carried through with a nice finish. For as sweet as this beer is I am surprised that it has such a bitter quality to it.

I must say that after reading a few reviews before opening the cap I was worried I was in for a beer I wouldn't like but was presently surprised by a what I think is a decent brew and is on par with the rest of the yuengling collection which I always enjoy.

A - A nice shade of amber with slight carbonation bubbles and a half inch of head that turns to an impressive lace ring.

S - Smells pretty sweet with a touch of hops (slightly) and a bit of grainy bitterness. I take a sip.

T - Not very aggressive with the grain but not as hoppy as hoped. The flavor has malt then hops then water. Kind of thin.

M - Light to medium. Surprisingly I kind of enjoy it.

Overall I am impressed with this but it must be because I am drunk as it seems to be a very drinkable pale ale. I will revisit with a clean palate.

Lord Chesterfield pours a very pale color - scarcely darker than Budweiser. The head is decent but not amazing. Smell is a surprise, with flowers leaping out at me. Taste is light for a pale ale but still pleasant. Has some mild bitterness as well as malts. Mouthfeel is somewhat watery. Not a complex beer but there isn't anything too bad about it. Hits the spot at times.

Pale and very clear straw color with a big white and fluffy head. Smells of skunked corn. Not a great start.

There's a certain sickly sweetness in the taste that throws me off a lot. This sweetness, I guess from the malts, is combined with an oddly very dry finish and mouthfeel and lots of carbonation. Tastes like a step up from Coors Light and a step down from Yuengling Lager. That sickly sweet combined with dryness taste makes for an odd beer that I don't find myself enjoying a whole lot. I think if I have to go with Yuengling, I'll stick to their porter or lager. But worth the try.
