Yeungling, disgustingly overrated by people from Pittsburgh, one of the crappiest macros out there. Anyways, the Black and Tan and Porter seem to be the only two beers by them that are popular in craft circles, we will see how good it is.

Pours with a small head that quickly dissipates and a cocacola colored body. Nothing special.

Smells metallic, with some malts, nothign special.

Taste is a little good, mostly crap. On one hand there is a bit of tasty roasty porter in there, on the other hand there is a nasty vomit like water over-carbonated shit tasting lager, pardon the profanity. I definitely would want to at least try the porter after tasting this but it reaffirms my knowledge that Yuengling lager is horrible beer that should not be praised. Too much off flavor and sourness in this one to give it any recognition.

Just avoid Yuengling brews in general.

thanks to my homegirl terry who brought me this from a recent trip to PA.

A- pours a clear dark mahogany with orange highlights. sticky khaki colored head holds nicely and leaves some chunky crusty lace. understandably a 50/50 mix of yuengling lager and their easy drinking porter. i don't believe i've ever had a premixed b&t but this one has started off just fine.

S- i can definitely pick up the yuengling original in the nose. adjunct/macro aroma. grass, hay, corn, and a bit of b.o. sadly no roasty cocoa porter aromas.

T- starts slightly tart transitions to something that tastes like my dirty armpits, and finishes metallic. not what i was looking for. a faint hint of smokiness is percieved in the otherwise clean finish.

MF- thin, fizzy, cardboardish.

D- not appealing to me whatsoever. tastes like a f***ed up bud light. regular yuengling and yuengling porter are far better on their own than this frankenstein amalgamation, emphasis on the mal.

...seeing a bladder of a portuguese man-of-war floating near him he said "agua mala, you whore"...

Looks nice with the tall off white head and all, Garnett hued clear elixer With descent lacing.
Less than entertaining nose on this at just under room temp. This elixer REEKS of adjunct grain in my opinion, corn for sure in this.
Flavor is weak and watery some malty hop but not near enough.
Mouthfeel is very thin and lame.
UNDRINKABLE!!!

12 oz. bottle served chilled in a pint glass.

Appearance: Reddish and clear with a small beige head that quickly dissipates to little more than a ring. Leaves scant amounts of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Weird vegetal aromas, kinda sour.

Taste: Sour toffee malt flavor, not all that great. Did they just add food coloring to the lager?

Mouthfeel: Very light in body.

Drinkability: Not so great. Lacks any redeeming flavor to make me wnat this over an authentic black and tan. I wouldn't try this one again.

12oz bottle poured into a pint.

No head, nothing.

Smells like... junk. Lots of dextrose.

Taste's even worse. Very hard on the tongue with burnt flavors and a weak carbonation. Very crisp but doesn't hide the fact that this brew sucks. Sweet at the finish but that doesn't help at all.

I had this one ice cold and it still tasted horrible. Ever again.

Rare I get the chance to have Yuengling and I still don't understand why craft beer drinkers are so excited to buy this stuff?

Pours dark with a tan head that doesn't last or hold long at all. Very large bubbles in there that don't hold and the color is reddish when held to the light.

The beer has a very "macro" oder to it. Perhaps just the smell of adjuncts? There are hints of coffee, toffee and caramel as well in here. Still a very off note in there I can't qualify.

Put to this point there's nothing wrong with this beer, just a touch boring. The flavor however is just wrong. I get plaster, puddy, plastic, coffee, caramel, earthy hops, and maybe some burnt plastic?

With all the odd flavors the lighter nature to this beer makes it stay drinkable despite some rather off putting flavors.

I certainly won't come back to this one, but I suppose there are worse beers? I can't really name any off the top of my head though.

12oz bottle, not date. Pours the color of watered-down cola, with rusty caramel highlights. The thin, offwhite head is only around for a second.

The smell consists of roasted grain, caramel, and sugar. The flavor is a sweet grain, toasty and sweet, yet there is very little weight or depth. The mouth is watery and shows zero complexity. All carbonation is lacking and this brew just seems to slide off the palate without leaving any impression.

This underwhelming brew reminds of the awful Honey Brown: grainy sugar water. The Black and Tan in a bottle gimmick just doesn't work.

A- An opaque dark brown with tan foam and light lacing.

S- Caramel, hint of coffee and dark chocolate. Some skunk. Burnt notes.

T- Matly with coffee hints and bitter chocolates. Burnt cardboard; ash. Metallic with a bitter end. Like someone put a cigerette out in cold coffee.

M- Medium with high carbonation.

D- Ok for this style.

Pours a deep dark color with a small head that fully diminshed.

Smell was syrupy sweetness and dark malt tones.

Taste was too sweet and syrupy. Didn't taste natural. Really don't like this beer.

Mouthfeel is too thick and sweet.

Not a fan of this one.

Pours black on the top half of the glass and a golden straw color on the bottom half. Thin fluffy tan head.

There was a faint scent of roasted malts.

The taste was very watery and almost unflavorful, there was some notes of roasted malts and burnt coffee.

Light bodied, thin and crisp, moderate carbonation.

This was tough to drink, I took 2 sips and wanted nothing more to do with it. I think the Premium is to blame. I may try the old recipe of Porter and Lord Chesterfield on my own. It couldn't be worse.

WOW! This was very disappointing, and considering I didn't have very high expectations for this to begin with, that really says something! It poured a very dark mahogony colour, but was crystal clear. Khaki colour foamy cap rested nicely on top for several seconds before subsiding into a patchy covering. Looked very average. Neither appealing or offensive. Smell was almost like something akin to a Honey Brown or some other such sweet nonsense. Reminded me a bit of BMC with a bit of syrup added for sweetness. The taste is more of the same with a quick malty dryness at the end that seems to say, "Ha! Had you fooled..you thought there was about to be something pleasant here, didn't you?" This is not very good. In fact, this may get sacrificed to the kitchen sink. As I always say, in total fairness to the brewer and his (or her) intentions, this may have its fans, but it most assuredly is *not* for me...

12 oz bottle. Pours brown with short lived, beige head. Nose is of bready malt, ripe fruit and lemonade. Body is medium, smooth and astringent. Taste is of toasted malt, chalk, metallic, very astringent. Finish is long and astringent. At least I did not buy this crap.

I'm going to annoy people from Philadelphia with this, but it really didn't taste anything like what a black & tan should taste like. It was bland and the stout portion was overpowering. Yet, for reason's I don't understand, the people I know from Philadelphia all seem to love this beer. I was disappointed.

This one is dark brown mixed with reddish hues. The head is cream colored which is tiny and fleeting.

Smell is almost nonexistent (some malt aroma).

The taste is watery, but does carry some malt flavor in the aftertaste.

M/F: watery and fizzy.

Highly drinkable if you like the lighter side of beers.

Would make a decent introductory beer to a macro drinker.

Pours dark amber/brown with one-finger off-white head. Aroma and flavor aren't terribly impressive...light roasted malts, light coffee & toffee. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated. Not terribly impressed, only saving grace is the price. Used to letting porters warm a bit, but this one is best served cold.

Here in WV some people rave about anything Yuengling. You can't buy it in state so I guess that is what makes some people think it is special, but it is not really. This black and tan tastes ok. But any porter taste in it is mild. It has a very light taste, nothing bad and nothing great. It goes in the same class as Amber Bock.

As with all Yuengling beer, I buy and drink it because it is cheaper and tastes better then other cheap beer. But it is lacking in taste.

Appearance: Dark brown.

Smell: Strong malty bitter smell.

Taste: Malty and bitter. Left a lingering bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Somewhat heavy with lots of carbonation.

Overall: I'm usually a fan of darker beers but this one was a little off. The aftertaste was bitter and unpleasant. Not as smooth as their lager.

Deep black hue with large off-white head. Subtle chocolate, peanut butter, oats, grass in the nose. A bit offensive and unsatisfying in flavor: echoes of roast, syrup, nuts, oats. Light in body and not true to an authentic black and tan. Don't bother with this one.

Pours out a rich, dark reddish brown with a big tan head that drops to a film in a minute.
Smell, what I could pick up, was roasted malt, hops and a little coffee.
Taste was lacking but had sweetly roasted malt, light coffee with hops later and some chocolate.
Mouthfeel was thin, almost watery, with little carbonation. Easy to drink but why? These combo black & tan's are a poor substitute for either the porter or the lager and aren't really worth doing as they come out a distant second to to either half of the intended result. Skip this beer, spend your money on something more deserving.

Appearence: Pours a medium-black with a thin, bleach white head. Tiny lacing.

Smell: Weak chocolate and coffee notes. That's it.

Taste and Mouthfeel: Very weak and modest tasting. No real flavors come through, just a tiny bit of malts and hops. Nohting unique, nothing special, and no after-taste. Water and weak in the mouth.

Drinkability and Overall: Blah. A below average beer, that doesn't have any real flavors. Tastes like a macro. The flavor gets worse as the beer warms, sadly. I wouldn't have another.

Purchased a six pack over this past weekend. Poured into a glass, brew has a deep black color with a little lacing and a smooth taste that was somewhat bitter. Taste had hints of chocolate, toffee and coffee. Not a bad beer overall just not my style. Probably a better beer for winter time with soups or stews not a summer time brew.

Smells mostly bready, with a little spice, and hints of chocolate and coffee. No noticeable hop aroma.

Nice dark brown with reddish hues. Not quite opaque.

I've been going strictly craft for a while, so I have to remember this is not a microbrew. The taste just leaves me searching for more. Slightest, tiniest roasted bitterness. There seems to be a little hop bitterness but it's hard to find.

Mouthfeel is pretty thin.

I tried to stay open-minded with it, but the B&T just doesn't stand up to microbrewed craft beer. But it gets the job done. And the price point is great!

Nice color, nice head and laciness. Very pleasant, nutty aroma. Disappointing taste however. When it hits my tongue I anticipate a deep, rich flavor, but a second later it falls flat into a sour aftertaste I don't like. I haven't had YL porter, but I imagine I wouldn't like it for the same reason. Okay choice if you want to down a 6 pack for the price, but I'd say overall you get what you pay for, rather cheap and not "premium" as the label says, in my opinion.
