Notes:
Frye's Leap IPA is an intense experience. It is a hoppy medium-bodied ale and is full of character. From the caramel malt which gives our IPA its golden color to the distinct fruity hoppiness, this beer is every bit as exciting as its namesake, the popular cliffs on Sebago Lake. Enjoy this refreshing beer with seafood, spicy foods and all things grilled. Take the Leap!

I am excited to review this beer, this was the brew that got me into IPAs, and made me realize I am a hop head. Haven't actually had one for a while so I wonder how it stands up to some of the great IPAs I have enjoyed in the last few years.
A - poured a brilliant clear golden with orange highlights. 1.5 finger thick white head. Great retention, took a while to subside but remained a nice fluffy cap that lasted to the end. Ample lacing making this look fresh and lively.
S - I could smell the hops as I opened the bottle, very aromatic... Piney, resinous and floral. Slight caramel malt character in the background.
T - the highlight of the taste is the very intense hop forward flavor, piney and floral. Mild malt taste and sweetness exists in the background along with a nice bite of hop bitterness. There is no freshness date I can find, but from the taste, this is certainly a fresh example and the taste is on par, if not better than some of the more hyped IPAs I have had recently.
M - medium mouthfeel with a light carbonation, fits the style well. Only negative is a slight watery character.
O - Overall, this remains one of my favorite IPAs. Amazing hop centric flavor, more in the style of a west coast IPA, definitely a departure from most Maine IPAs.

Hazy nice deep orange color with near 2 finger foamy white head with pretty good retention. Tons of sticky lacing all the way down. This is a good looking IPA. hoppy aroma of citrus, mostly orange with some lemon zest and grapefruit also. Slight floral precense. Definate malt background behind the hops. Mostly grainy malt. Smells pretty clean and refreshing. Lets see how she tastes. There is some malt up front for sure. Grassy, earthy, little caramel. Malt gives way pretty quickly to the hops. The bite of pink grapefruit that is not quite ripe. Really bitter and bone dry. Long lingering bitter aftertase. Nice silky mouthfeel with good carbination on a solid medium body. This is a pretty good IPA. I would like to see a little more balance, but if you are into bitter this one is for you.

12 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.
Appearance: This beer poured a one finger head that reduced to a thin layer and left some lacing on the glass. It is a pale orange color with a little haziness, but good view of bubbles coming up through the glass.
Smell: Caramel and bready malts, grapefruit, and other citrus flavors.
Taste: Same as above with some lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium bodied, medium carbonation, and it drinks very easily.
Overall: A nice session IPA compared to others.

I got this on tap at a local pub and had to go pick up a six pack the next day.
A-Nothing spectacular to behold. Looks like a pretty run-of-the-mill pale ale. Thin head lingers but not too long
S-Floral notes. Smells sweet and crisp. Yes, it smells like beer, but it smells like good beer.
T-Pretty much just how it smells. The hops come through, but they're well balanced and the alcohol taste is minimal.
M- A touch too carbonated, but otherwise quite smooth.
O-A very respectable IPA, especially for the price.
