a - highly carbonated to the point where i was worried the beer was going to completely drain the bottle upon opening. settled down to a three-fingers thick, bubbly and billowy tan head into a snifter that left thick sheeting and lacing throughout do to the high carb no doubt. the body was a dark mahogany color.
s - very phenolic with some maltiness but not much hop aroma.
t - spicy and piney hops with a caramel backbone.
m - bubbly and lively do to the carbonation.
o - i was disappointed in this beer as BP has really improved since moving into their new space. i'll chalk it up to carbonation levels.

The appearance of this beer is nice. Dark ruby tint a nice hue. The head is between dark tan and faint brown. The pour I had almost seemed as though it had swirls of darker foam. The taste is definitely malty with notes of toffee and a slighty sweet roasts character. I really dIg the mouthfeel. Full bodied but not cloingly sweet. My only complaint is that at 7% abv I didn't expected the fusal alcohol bite I'm noticing. Overall a good beer I enjoy often.

Poured from a growler from Wine Rack, Huntsville. Kudos to GTodd for being a very helpful proprietor.

A:Dark brown, too opaque to see through, turns to a lighter brown near the bottom of the glass. No rising bubbles in liquid. Short, thick head, caramel colored.

S:Not much smell, subtle sweet malt smell. No other discernible flavor.

T:Bitter and hoppy; sweet malt; long lasting aftertaste, a lot of hops and a little malt hangs in there for a while. Gets more caramel and creamy flavoring as it warms.

M:Thick, a bit creamy, leaves tongue dry.

O:Well built beer, maybe to much bitter hops aftertaste, especially for a red ale. Have a growler to finish, not sure yet if I would purchase again.

Over all I would rate this as a great beer but it could use a little more head and a little more carbonation. The appearance is a cloudy reddish brown that looked more like a brown ale than a red ale. There was a nice balanced complexed flavor of toasted malt with a slight hops taste. This beer would complement any meal or be equally good by itself. I would order this beer again just for the sheer enjoyment of drinking it. A very good beer from a small start-up brewery in Northern Alabama.

Got this from the mellow mushroom in Auburn. It poured a cloudy brown. Nice cream colored head with moderate lacing. The smell was dominated by malts. Nice mouthfeel with a combination of sweet malts with a very slight hoppy finish. Decent beer from a young brewery. Also tried the corduroy rye ipa by B.P. which was different but very nice!

Randomly on tap at a restaurant in Auburn. Very happy to see a local brewery represented so I gave it a go. Pleased I did, as it turned out to be an enjoyable beer.

Murky brown beer (poor lighting) with a pillow of tan foam. Great looking head on the beer, odd color of the beer itself. I'm used to red ales being way more red.

Decent smell dominated by malts including some subtle chocolate aromas.

Interesting flavor for a red ale. I guess I don't feel like it's a red ale, more like a brown ale. Still, good malts and a muted hop balance.

Creamy mouthfeel, good carbonation, and a hefty beer. You will be full after a pint of this. That said, another pint was a good thing.

I would say for a new brewery, this is a fine effort and way better than the average beer.

Aroma: Knickerbocker Red presents with a sweet nose. There is a little woodiness in the nose as well.

Taste: The initial taste has a sweetness. The hops are very mellow, but they arrive late in the taste and hold on to the finish. The finish is a little alkaline, too.

Appearance: For an up-start brewery, I would say that the appearance is very nice. I expect it to improve as brewing techniques improve for them as I had my tasting at their release party.

Notes from the launch event on Oct. 2nd, 2010 at The Nook.

A: Very murky brownish-red, somewhat a rust color. Slow rising bubbles. Small tan head.

S: Very feint pine hops, notes of caramel, and a bit biscuity.

T: Balanced. Hops and malt are evenly woven. Not complex, as the flavor remains fairly constant throughout. Finish is slightly sweet caramel.

M: Medium bodied, but quite filling.

D: The balance to this makes it easy down. Not a brew with an overly dominant flavor. I'd personally prefer a little more aggressive hop. Could use some tweaking from this new brewery.
