We came this way for a dinner and to buy some brews. The reviews on BA held this stop as one of the best choices in the area. Finding it was kind of tough as the building is not very well marked and the dark tinted windows(for the protection of the beer) almost made it look closed. Once inside we immediately felt welcome and noticed the warmth and care in the layout. An older man greeted us and once we said we were interested in beer Mary took over and was not only very helpful but down to earth and full of knowledge as well. Attached to the main area where you shop is a separate area with a bar with some tables chairs and couches. This area is very eclectic and a real cool place to relax, have a drink and hang out. I might add they had the best selection of whiskey behind the bar that I have ever seen in one place. We shared a anti-pesto plate that was very good. They have some craft brews on tap that included Alpha King and a sample from Mahr's and local brewery Lore. This place could really pop with just a little signage on the outside of the building and maybe a lighted sign telling us they are open. They really care about their selection and have no big three product. I respect greatly what they are doing and hope others will support this great spot.

The pleasure to visit V-the Market was all mine on this particularly rainy Friday afternoon. Upon entering the cozy shotgun of a store, I felt right at home. Craft and imported beers greeted me from the left and right while the ever-friendly Cathy waked up to greet us from the back of the store. There's a certain southern charm of the history and personnel when encountering a small town store with the same passion and excitement as those who promote their products and culture- in this case, it's beer!
A solid array of beers from Three Floyds, Sierra Nevada, Dogfish Head, North Coast, Widmer Brothers, and many more were obvious and arranged in an ecclectic arrangenment makes me think of Belgian cafe's where the enjoyment and purchase of these fine beers are one in the same. In fact, Cathy proceeded to offer us a draft beer to sip while we shop. The Bell's Two Hearted Ale and Three Floyds Alpha King were the perfect compliment to the beer browsing experience. While most of the selection were displayed in wooden box displays, they had a couple coolers with beers like Squall and Ovila chilled to go, and void of any industrial-type beers.
While the beer selection only incompassed about the first thrird of the store, the remaining space offers artisnal wines, scotches, bourbons, cheeses, and such. This place seems to take these products ever much as serious as they do their beers.
All of these products are enjoyed at tastings that the store offers on Fridays, except for the Friday I visited as the owners were out of town. But no worries for me as Cathy and I swapped stories about beers and other matters about the township of Danville's recent shift to alcohol sales. Indeed, V-the Market is not only promoting the sale of alcohol in Danville, but are doing so in a respectful and appreciative manner.
Despite the store's slender and compact design, its cozy charm more than makes up for the size. Nestled in the core of downtown, parking seems limited to on-street or in a tucked away alley that was ample on our visit.
Needless to say that this store is much more than a place to grab a sixer while in town. It's a true destination for anyone who prefers finer beverages; regardless of where you are.

You've got to love V-the Market. Exceptional selection of craft beers (250 at last count) will keep me busy for a long time. Owner Mary Robin and staff are very helpful with beer selections, as well as wine and bourbon.
Their selection of fine imported and domestic cheeses compliments the beverages very well. If you're in a sweet mood, they also have wonderful chocolates. By the time you read this, lunch will also be an option.
Regular tastings are held with the opportunity to try several brands. I've been to two already and they've been great!
I could visit V-the Market everyday and not be able to try everything that I'd like - but I'm willing to give it a try.
