Amber Road Amber pours a clear amber (more orange than red) into the glass with a moderate, frothy head on top. The foam dissolves quickly to a creamy sheet on the surface and leaves behind a coating of lace as it descends.

The aroma is malty with a touch of hops mixed in. Caramel malt, toasted malt and bread dominate, but there's a touch of lemon citrus in there as well.

Each sip of this medium bodied beer is soft on the palate with mild to moderate carbonation. The flavor is malty with caramel and toasted malt dominating each sip. Bread and some ripe fruit are also present. It finishes slightly metalic with mild bitterness and some light citrus notes. Once gone the bread and fruit notes linger on the palate.

This is an easy drinking beer with lots of flavor. Leans heavy on the malt side, but there's enough hops to prevent this beer from becoming too sweet. A good beer to go with a hearty dinner.

Poured in a stein. Attractive nice apple cider color with a big 3-4 fingers head The head did not retain itself, but the beer looked great in the glass.

Aroma- malty and apple fruit.

Mouth feel. Not very carbonated. Works well with total concept of the beer.

Taste: very tart, malty, and hoppy. There was a distinct apple cider taste to this beer. Almost sour.

In general, quite refreshing to drink. A good beer especially when one wants to stay away from high ABV winter beer.

The beer pours a murky orange brown from the can, with a nice lightly white-sand head on top that leaves quickly, leaving a sticky bit of lacing behind. The beer looks very well carbonated judging by the bubbles in the glass, and is murkier than swamp water, with just a slight glimpse of the other side of the glass when you gaze through it. Of course, this beer is meant for the can so a majority of the sampling will be from there, but a sample from the glass is also in order. In the glass it smells like sweet caramel and toffee malts with a slight roasted flavor. There is a lot of biscuit in the smell as well which makes the beer smell like a sweet bread. There is also a slight citrus like lemon or unripe orange coming from the hops, but they are backseat to the malts. From the can the smell is pretty much the same, with a little of a metallic taste unsurprisingly added in. From the glass the beer tastes sweet with a tremendous balance between the caramel and biscuit malts and citrus bitter orange of the hops. The hops bitter does a good job of lasting throughout the taste and into the aftertaste where it overpowers everything and becomes slightly cloying. From the can the taste is very similar, but strangely mellows the citrus aftertaste considerably making it far more pleasant on the palate. Flavors are quite mellow, making this a nice beer to sit back and sip wherever you might be. There is an owe so slight aspirin flavor that builds from the bitterness over time, but it is not overpowering in the beer. Mouthfeel is cool and crisp with just a slight bite of carbonation on the tongue, and a slight chewiness to the feel. The mouth is left with a sheen of spittle and bitter ichor on the tongue. Overall this is a nice pretty much sesssionable red that sits nicely in a can and is easy to knock back. It’s definitely more malt centric, but does a good job of balancing that with the hops. This beer will not knock your socks off, but is a solid go to for any craftbeer lover looking for something with taste to stock up on and knock back. Another solid beer from the Baxter Brewing Company.

A: Pours a solid amber color with 2 fingers worth of sticky lace that retains well and leaves some nice lacing

S: Some nice caramel maltiness and fruity notes are the things that stand out the most, along with hints of toffee

T: Follows the nose. Mostly some caramel and toffee from the maltiness and then hints of fruits, most noticeably cherry. Some earthiness from the hops also comes through

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and easy to drink

O: Another good any time beer in a can from Baxter. Not the most flavorful or complex, but gets the job done. If you really like a hoppy amber, look elsewhere. If you enjoy a more malt-forward amber, then look no further

Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass.

A bit hazy reddish brown amber body, with a nice light creamy off white and tan head. Forms about three fingers in size with some nice retention and some spider like lacing.

Nose is a soft toasty malt bill, a good malt sweetness to this also. A nice classic chewy bread sense. Very solid smelling amber.

Palate hits with a very watery body. Mouthfeel hints at malt density but doesn't carry over this lifeless feel. Finish comes and goes very quickly with a mild hop presence, but also there's even a very odd carbonation to this, with a strange odd bitter.

Overall this isn't really getting the job done.

LOOK: Maple-syrup amber color

SMELL: Toasted husk, brown bread, spicy hop, hint of alcohol

TASTE: Toasted bread, slightly biscuity, caramel, hay, herbal hop, leafy, ripe apples, spice, citric zest, semi-dry, grainy finish

Canned craft beer is still going strong. Baxter saw record growth in their rookie year (2011) by hitting 5,000 barrels. Balanced, yet both the grain and hops jump at the palate a bit. An all-around good utility beer for just about any occasion or moment.
