On tap at HAF. Consumed on a fresh palate (and in a glass I brought with me because screw plastic mugs.)
A: Thick sludgy motor oil from a broken down Chevy. heavy mocha cream head, and some slowly drifting legs. Yeah, this is a perfect look.
N: Caramel, vanilla, fudge, dark chocolate, oak, and bourbon that goes on for days. Some grassy elements in the background along with some dark fruit.
T: Brown sugar, bourbon, fudge, chocolate, and vanilla. This is very well balanced bedtween stout and barrel. A little roasted malt, some faint coffee whisps, and ample licorice. Has a pleasant grainy quality.
M: Could be a touch heavier here, but the alcohol is very well hidden.
O: Incredible balance and depth from a sour producer. I have to say I'm impressed and would definitely buy this if it were released in bottles.

On Tap
Beer Dinner with Cascade Brewing
Stone Brewing Co.
Escondido, CA
Black and oily throughout with a very thin dark brown head. Leaves the glass oily and spotted with stick.
Incredible aroma that changes and evolves nicely as it warms. Big notes of chocolate, roast, mild coffee, and lots of bourbon barrel. There's a mild molasses character as well. Wonderful.
Flavor follows the aroma, with chocolate, roast, coffee, and bourbon barrel combining incredibly well. There's some alcohol heat as well, but it's complementary instead of distracting.
Full body with low, creamy carbonation.
Fantastic.
