From a crock pot (yes, a crock pot) into a snifter. Served hot with an orange slice and clove.
A-The brew is dark red and pretty still looking with a patchy bit of head that doesn't really amount to a head. The orange slice pretty much kills any head and thought of lacing, actually.
S-The brew is served warm, almost hot, and the spices are very obvious. Clove, citrus, cinnamon, sweet cherry, and just a hint of vinous tartness. This is not a normal beer and it doesn't really smell like one, but if you acknowledge the fact that it is sweet and hot, it smells like it is supposed to.
T-The taste is hugely sweet with just a little bit of balancing tart flavor. Cherries, clove, allspice, and cinnamon are most noticeable from the beer. Of course, the orange slice imparts orange/citrus and a bit of acidity.
M-The feel is a little heavy and syrupy, which is to be expected. Carbonation is pretty much non-existent.
O-This is fun. I tried a glass during a recent stop in the Cascade Barrel Room on a rainy, cold January evening and was glad I did. Would I drink a lot of this? No. But for a once-per-year type drink, it fit the bill and, honestly, the flavors weren't half-bad.

This oak aged blend of Bing and sour pie cherry sour red sled has been steeped on spices fresh from Grenada and wild flower honey, served with a slice of Orange at 70 DEGREES. IT'S LIKE Christmas in a glass before credit card bill comes due.
Not sure how to add this one, as they were serving it from a hot pot at the bar, so I chose cask, why not.
Pours little head, reddish amber. Smells like Christmas spices, really. Almost burns my hand as I pick it up...70 degrees my ass.
odor is warm...Nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, tiny hint of cherry.
Ok never had a hot beer, first for me, but somehow it works. I don't know how, I don't know why, but it does.
A lot of bread pudding on the front of the palate. Then crosses over the mid, picks up cherries, and finishes tart. The mouthfeel is thick but not too much, it really warms you up in the cold. Odd, but not bad... oddly unique.
