750ml bottle into Duvel tulip. Think I picked this bottle up some time in 2010 and somehow never got around to opening it. Bottle says "8.06% ABV, 6.1 IBU" if that's a vintage identifier for you.
Appearance: Careful pour yields a one inch frothy offwhite head that dissipates steadily and leaves no lacing. Pours a deep but translucent ruby red and leaves occasional dots and tight streaks of lacing.
Smell: Balsamic vinegar, fruity undertones. With time, some beautifully vibrant red fruit notes come out. Lots of development here. Gets funkier, more savory, then more deeply fruity, etc.
Taste: Creamy and oaky up front, leading to a great lactic sour and cherry hit. Lots of acetic flavor that goes well with the oak. Pretty sour; sourness lingers long and mouthpuckeringly. Great leathery red wine flavors emerge.
This beer is straightforward and delicious. Just right amount of oak influence, lots of cherry, red wine, wild ale complexity without any real abrasiveness. I've gone on more sweeping American wild ale adventures than this one, but the ride is smooth and profoundly enjoyable.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Juicy, with a tart finish. Occasional sugariness, but not bad. Often quite succulent. Perfect carbonation.
Overall: Sang Rouge is an American wild ale after my own heart. While I could go even oakier, and would love some sour cherries thrown in, otherwise it hits all the right notes for me. Red wine-like, great mouthfeel, not too acidic, flavors not too disparate but still deep and complex. Could drink this beer every day, honestly.

750mL bottle split 3 ways
A: Red tinted mahogany with a thin lashing of head. Some legs.
N: ripe grapes, lactic acide, some strawberry, cherry, and oak. Wine barrel is evident.
M: Sour lactic acid and sweet tarts. There's an ample amount of the aforementioned fruits, but this has the same base level taste of the other Cascade sours.
M: It's on the lighter side, though it's still heavier than I like and has an oiliness about it.
O: Typical Cascade sour. Nothing special, but it's not off putting to drink, either.

Thanks to John11486 for sharing this one at jmgrub's tasting.
Pours a clear brown with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour, tart, and funky with some fruity, wood, and vinegar aromas. Taste is much the same with an acidic finish on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.
