Big thanks to foofaa for sharing this at my birthday tasting, enjoyed chilled from the 750 in a mug.
The color is a golden hued hazed looking liquid with snowy white cap that provides spotty lace. The smell is sour and vinous with some white grape sweetness and slight honey like odor with gentle compliment of subtle citrus notes. The feel is very good with big sour note up front with almost acetic acid but more citric with lemony sour tinge and juicy sweet vinous aspect with nice amount of carbonation giving a little impression for such a big beer.
The flavor is great with mild sweet grape and light lemon tinges with gentle mix of both sour and sweet and mild tropical perhaps juicy pineapple and oak in the middle with some slight pepper and tea-like astringent flavor with a nice reminder of the wine barrel mixed with the sour elements and light malt flavor. I loved this, it is a very drinkable and unique beer. I would love to try it again. Thanks again Foofaa for this treat!

2010 bottle, abv is listed as 8.33.
Pours a moderate golden color with a small thin white head that vanishes almost instantly. Attempts to agitate some bubbles and or head are futile.
Aromas begin with some lactic and acetic sourness as well as a grape skin. A bit of funk and more generic fruit sweetness. Sour tart and vinous oakiness emerge more as it warms.
The taste loses the grapey character and has more of a mild fruit flavor to go along with some oak. Then you get some more of the lactic and acetic characteristics. Chardonnay white grape vinous flavors permeate and dominate the flavor profile.
Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with medium to low carbonation. The heft of this sourbscreams for some more carbonation to balance the fruity sweetness. Finish is dry but not overly so with good sourness.
Overall I enjoyed it's beer but I have to say honestly it is my least favorite of any of the numerous beers I have had from Cascade. A bit too sweet, even for this slightly older edition; could use a year more or so to dry and sour more. From what I have heard and read the best edition is the original because it has aged and it properly balanced with sweet and sour.

2011 vintage - 750ml bottle.
Pours bright golden yellow, slightly hazy, with a big fizzy white head that recedes very quickly to a thin collar and a small collection of bubbles.
Aroma is lightly lactic but with a sweet grape character. There is lots of oaky tannins and light funkiness, though it's not nearly as tart or acidic as most Cascade sours.
The taste is more of the same with a subdued lactic backbone with some spicy Belgian yeast and lots of oak, especially in the finish. There is also more lactic acidity in the finish than in the aroma.
Mouthfeel is smooth with soft carbonation and an overwhelmingly vinous, grape-heavy feel.
Another really solid sour from Cascade, though it's not nearly as in-your-face as some of the others I've had. That's not necessarily a bad thing and the grapes really make it unique.

Purchased from the brewery for $17.00.
A loud pop when I removed the cork, it pours a clear and very bubbly light gold with a 1 finger head of foam with lots of lacing.
It smells funky, tart, yeasty and has some notes of grapes.
The taste has some rather big sour grape flavour to it followed by mild notes of funk, a wee bit of fruity sweetness, more grape sourness, and woody notes from the oak aging. The alcohol gives me a lot of warming after the swallow but I can't say it shows up much in the taste.
Medium body, lively carbonation, good mouthfeel overall. This is good and for lovers of grape in their American Wilds..it's probably better than just good. Me? I'm not a huge fan of grapes but I'm not sorry I gave this a go. Being a Cascade beer..

Pours deep gold with a fizzy white head that fades immediately. No lacing.
Aroma has strong vinous character along with lactic acid and oak.
Similar flavors although there is a stronger presence of white grape juice. Tastes a little musty along with strong oak character.
Lighter bodied with medium carbonation.
Tastes a lot like a white wine although it's not terribly complex.

2011 Vintage. Pours a very hazy golden color with a medium white head that disappears quickly. Scent is quite vinous...nice white wine aroma. Tons of grapes. Nice and funky with a lovely oak presence. Taste is initially Belgian tripel with a lot of white wine and oak. Some pears with a bit of melon. A nice sour apple presence as well. Probably the least sour beer I've had from Cascade...nice and tart. Mouthfeel is nice and dry. Drinkability is very high. Overall, a fantastic beer that I know lovers of white wine could easily get into.

750ml bottle; split
appearance: served in my ale asylum chalice, a dark golden body with a thick creamy 1.5" white head
smell: extremely vinous - unique in that white grapes are utilized, oak, belgian triple yeast
taste: Cascade's lineup seems pretty heavy on the darker sours, so this is a little bit of a curveball for them. Vinous white whine notes - oak, white grape, light acidity, earthy. Pear, green apple, belgian spice
mouthfeel: lighter, tart
overall: solid as always from cascade - perhaps a little less spectacular than some of the other bottled offerings

2011 project into Funkwerks tulip.
A - maybe a finger of off white head which quickly falls to nothing. No lacing. Body is slightly cloudy, and peach in color.
S - Good candied sugar with sweet and sour fruits. Grapefruit, strawberries, and raspberry. Also a lot of red apple.
T - More apple and a lot of grape. Tastes a little winey (white wine). There is good acidity/sourness but the grape/wine flavor is a little too dominant.
M - Good carbonation holds up a weaker body. Not to drying but leaves the mouth a little puckered and does not linger in the mouth.
O - A good beer, but could be better. If you are looking for a mix of wine and beer, this would be good for you. Still, I wouldn't turn down a bottle/glass.

Bottle into tulip, courtesy of Rutager for the 2012 CANBIF.
The Cascade beers have always been a huge want of mine.
A- Slightly hazy gold pour with a never ending, finger width, tight bubbled, snow white head. The streams of carbonation coming from the bottom of this glass are mesmerizing. The head just moves with the beer, leaving little lacing.
S- Right off the bat you get a sweet juicy grape juice, followed by a nice tart grape and lemon aroma. Almost zero funk to this beer. The grapes are making my mouth water. There is a nice grass aroma and the oak really shines through. I'm getting a touch of vanilla as well.
T- Wonderful tartness to it, just full on white wine tart, than lemon followed by a nice sweet grape juice and finishing with a quick super dry finish. The funk is at a 3 right now.
M- Light and super bubbly. The carbonation is borderline champagne.
O- This is high rated and rightfully so, this really is a remarkable beer.

A - Murky straw, near white head, some cling lace.
S - Wild and barney. Sharp tart fruit like apple comes through center. Malt around the peripheral.
T - Musty, pulpy, like a wine left on lees. Some malt, very light overall.
M - Medium body, fair carb, fair balance.
D - Tasty. I like it.

Bottle purchased for $17.99 + tax
Poured into a Lindemans flute
A: Golden yellow with lots of bubbles. 2 finger head, good amount of lacing. Very pretty to look at.
S: Grapes, yeast.
T: Grapes, yeast, not as sour as some other wild ales I tried. Finishes a bit on the sweet side, I seem to be picking up a little bit of apple and more sweetness from the grapes at the end.
M: Some what dry finish, not as puckering as some, good amount of carbonation.
O: I really enjoyed this bottle. I thought this was slightly better than the Apricot version. I think this could have used a bit more sour and funk, and less sweetness.

Appearance: Hazy gold. Head is bright white and drops to a thin collar very quickly. Some notches of lacing.
Smell: Belgian yeast and grape juice. Bright clean grape juice with some small notes of clove and ripe banana. Lactic tartness with a touch of citric bite. Floral and yeasty with enough young oak to liven things up. Wood is young and fresh.
Taste: More Belgian than the nose would indicate. Big hits of ripe banana and yeast. Some bubblegum mixed in with the fresh young wood. Citric tartness hits with a big lemon flesh note. Lactic tartness builds with each sip and prevents the yeast from taking over. Floral and then some. Almost like a Chardonnay. Grape juice becomes more pronounced as the beer warms.
Mouthfeel: Light, crisp, and dry. Lingering tartness. Delight to drink.
Overall: tactfully balances between Belgian yeast influence and barrel aged tartness. Nicely balanced and wonderful to drink. Falls a little short in t long run as it lacks some of the deeper lactic notes I would expect.

Consumed 4/29/12
Appearance: Bright golden orange, hazy - decent sized, fluffy, off-white head, retains a nice cap that lasts forever - wispy lacing
Smell: Lots of things going on here - sour, tart, some clean funk, and Belgian notes - white grapes, some acidity, some wood, mostly pale but some slightly toasted malts underneath
Taste: Complex, which makes sense considering all of the elements that went into this beer - slightly sour, tart, acidic, with some woody funk - white grapes, with a number of white wine-like characteristics (not necessarily a bad thing) - a touch of lemon and a light, malty sweetness
Mouthfeel: Medium body, bubbly and pleasant carbonation, smooth
Overall: Interesting the beer
When I first heard about this beer, I assumed that "Cascade The Vine" was going to be a DIPA or an IPA exclusively hopped with cascade hops. Apparently Cascade is a brewery. Good to know. In other news, this is a good sour.

750 ml bottle poured into a NB globe
A: The beer pours a golden copper, crystal clear with a large fluffy pillowy head that dissipated quickly leaving a thin trail of spotty lacing.
S: Big lacto sour funk on the front end. Oak notes mixes with white grapes and a touch of alcohol burn on the back end.
T: Again a big blast of sour funk that mixes with tart white wine/grape skins on the front with a woody oak barrel profile on the finish. Oak and alcohol come out as it warms.
M: Wonderfully carbonated beer that carries this light bodied sour to perfection. Oak and tart dance on the pallet, lingering after each sip.
O: Overall this is another wonderful sour from Cascade. Do not miss the opportunity to try this one if presents itself. Lovely.

2011 version.
A: 1/2" white head that dissipated quickly over copper liquid with excellent clarity.
S: Oak, sour funk, yeast and white grapes.
T: An acidic sour funk that hits you in the corners of the mouth with wood, yeast and semi-sweet white grapes, pear and green apple fruit flavours in the finish.
M: Medium viscosity and a high level of fine carbonation. Very smooth.
O: Very drinkable, so drinkable that my fiancee that hates 98% of beers liked this one. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

A- This looks like a picture perfect sour. Bright straw color high visible carbonation with a thin head that sticks around just fine.
S- Basement funk. Some oak, grapes, floral notes. Offensive at first, but mellows out.
T- Lots of lactic acid sour. The grapes sweeten it up a bit, but the finish is lemony, funky, bliss. Has a sweet undertone that really helps this beer.
M- The carbonation is really necessary here to lighten up these deep and funky flavors. Initially it may be a touch overcarbonated, but as it warms up it is not as corrosive, but very smooth and creamy.
O- This was better than I expected. Fantastic

Poured into a Belgian Tulip.
A- A really nice golden hue. Nice white head. Pours heavy and then quickly dissipates. Leaves a nice white lace around the edges of the glass.
S-Funkmaster general. Nice brett smell. Get's all the horse blanket wet hay goodness. The grapes really come through too. It's the smell that would happen if Brett was unleashed in a winery. Grapes and funk. Sounds good to me.
T- Nice sour tinge but nothing overly sour or tangy. Really works well. The grapes impart a sweetness. It really balances out well. Starts sour finishes sweet. It happens in really great proportions. Nice job.
M-Light. it is a very light body sour. Thin in the mouth with not much lingering mouth feel. The sour twange hangs around and leave a great after taste.
O- I really like this. The beer is not over bearing and isn't trying to be too much. the grape meld great and fit in so well. And 9% it doesn't taste at all. I think more along the lines of a gueze with the body something 5-6%. I would drink this all day. Good job again Cascade. i Can't wait till we meet again

Bottle pour sampled at mrbubbler's tasting.
Pours a slightly murky orange with an off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, fruit, and some funky aromas. Taste is of grain, grapes, and funk with an acidic finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good wild ale with a nice grape flavor to it.

Poured from bottle into tulip glass.
A: Cloudy yellow, with small-medium head
S: Light barrel notes and mild funk.
T: The grapes are not overly apparent (and I find that they usually are not in beers), but maybe come out a little bit towards the end. There's a brett funk, some sourness (but not an excessive amount), and bitterness balanced by fruitiness. Not too special, unfortunately.
M: Plenty of acidity and medium carbonation result in a very fizzy, biting, lively feeling.
O: A bit disappointing, since I am a big Cascade fan, and I bet I enjoyed this beer on tap at the Barrel House. There's just nothing too interesting about this one, with the brett being the most noticeable element. Even the smell is mild and unrefined.

A:Yellow. Slightly cloudy. Thin head.
S: Strong bretty funk of the claussenii variety (low-intensity British origin). Some pineapple. Citrus.
T: Taste follows suit. Cannot detect any grape flavors really. Or else they are overwhelmed by Brett notes. The sourness is well balanced.
M: Light body. Medium-high carbonation.
O: I was looking forward to this, but was dissapointed. The Brett funk overpowered this beer to the extent that I couldn't taste the fruit. Still pretty drinkable, but needs more subtlety of flavor. I'm still a huge fan of Cascade, but this is worse than I'm used to from them. Seek out the Blueberry instead.

Poured from 750ml bottle into D'Achouffe tulip.
A- pours a light golden with a 2" white head. Lots of effervescence. Small spots of lacing that reside quickly.
S- sour, lots of funk, slight vinegar smell, but has a nice grape and lemon aroma as well.
T- fairly sweet grapes and lemon upfront, then the funk and sourness hit you. Sourness is not overpowering but just right IMO.
M- medium body with high carbonation. Slightly dry finish and very drinkable for the style.
O- very good sour. Just sour and funky enought with a slight sweet fruitiness. Would definitely like more when I can get it.

T: lemony sour, lactic tartness, zesty fruit brett, some more hay and great balance. some oak comes out as it warms, but wasn't dominant on smell nor initial taste. 3.5
M: light to medium body, fizzy on the tongue and mostly tart sour makes the tongue pucker. there is a very slight lingering astringency, as if from fruit tannin. 4.0
O: incredible balance between funk and sourness. i'm going to guess a gueuze or some sort? could drink this all day. 4.5
I want to guess Tilquin Oude Gueuze, but it isn't quite as intensely sour.
reveal: Cascade the Vine. Wow thanks for the enjoyable bottle. The overall sourness hid a lot of the grape juice flavors, but the balance of funk smells makes it quite delicious.

Holy schyte, Batman... Hardest bottle to open... EVER. Review is from notes taken on 1/14/2012 and poured from the bottle to a tulip. I received this bottle in a trade, I can't remember for sure from who, but if I had to guess, it would be black13.
Appearance: Pour is a fair coppery/golden color and looks like a shiny penny; starts with a short 1/2 finger slightly off-white fizzy head that fades pretty much immediately to nothing; body is actually fairly clear and shows just a touch of haze, and very strong and diverse carbonation -- some big and uneven bubbles, and multiple streams of smaller ones; no trace of lacing is left behind, just an oily residue.
Smell: A great smell, and complex -- lots going on with a fruity tartness and some lactic and brett funkiness that is more tart than barnyard; the fruitiness is acidic, and definitely holds the grape from the addition of the juice; a saccharine and artificial candy scent is there as well, and I'm always reminded of Smarties and/or SweetTarts in wilds of this vein.
Taste: Excellent, and really matches the nose to a "T" -- first and foremost, the abundantly sweet and tart fruitiness dominates the palate, and the brett funkiness brings the saccharine flavors of the Smarties/SweetTarts; there is a sweet; slight woodiness with a touch of vanilla; for being over 8% alcohol, it's entirely masked by the bold flavors.
Mouthfeel: Mouth is lively and active, and the tartness and funkiness makes the mouth pucker and water; body is well carbonation despite sitting in the closet for over a year, but that should be expected in something with as many critters floating around in it as something like this; body is a little heavier in weight than just light, and there is a moist stickiness coating the entire mouth; belly is left warm from the acidity.
Overall: This is definitely a solid beer and I wish something like this were readily available in my part of the country (although my understanding is that this beer is about as expensive as they come)... doesn't quite compete with the likes of a Consecration or Supplication, but definitely comes in just behind them. A great beer to be sure.

Shared at City Beer Store with a few friends.
Pours a very nice gold with decent carbonation, not much head.
You can smell this bad boy from a few fee away. Grapes, pale malts and a sour funk. Very nice.
Grapes and sour hit up the front of the taste. Some yeast, pale malts and earthy hops (very slight). Very easy going down. Smooth and beautiful (for lack of a better word).
$40 is a bunch, but since we all threw down I'd say six thumbs up between three peeps.
