750ml corked & caged bottle, no date - Poured into a tulip...
Pours a very hazy, reddish dark tan color, bright ruby colored when held up to the light. A thin cap of off-white head forms and recedes into a haze over the beer...
Very faint aroma of tart cherries is overpowered by a strong musty funk. Some lactic tartness which at first seemed pretty powerful is now just a subtle addition to the scent, which remains mostly dark, dark ripe fruit, and almost a bit of a Belgian Quad finish in the smell, spicy and malty, yeasty...
Tart, but very oaky and dry. Dark cherry flavors, toffee and slightly roasted malt flavors come out and play a large role. Finish is abrupt, watery fruit juice that kind of just disappears. Alcohol heat shows up a bit after a few sips. Like in the smell, I get strong hints of the Belgian Quad, slightly spicy, dark almost winter-like and yeasty...
Medium bodied with light carbonation. Creamy, slightly acidic and quite dry. Wood and dryness linger long past the finish...

Pours a clear deep red brown color with a good sized fluffy off white head that slowly dissipates to a cap on top. The aroma holds lots of dark fruits, I pick up prunes and plums with a light lactic tang thing going on. Sweet and dark sugars round out the malt side of things. The flavor is nice and a bit sweet up front with lots of dark fruits and deep sugars going on. Light lemon and grapefruity tartness mingle with a mild lactic presence. Medium body and level of carbonation with a sweet tarts mouthfeel going on. Nice beer, lightly tart with lots of sweet juicy fruits still surviving.

This one was a part of cmrillo’s 40 Beers* @ 40 Birthday Bash! Shared by BRoss242! 2006 Vintage! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured red-orange with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, wood, tart, fruit, sour, and cherry. The flavor was of sweet malt, wood, fruit, and cherry. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. HOLY CRAP! I never thought I would see this one! Massive thanks again Billy! It was definitely worth the wait on this one as it really reminded me of the Sang Royale we had prior only the fruit profile I was begging for actually showed up. However, with the age on this one, a lot of the fruit profile had expired and faded quite a bit. Still nice of it to be there though. Really glad I finally got to try this one and if you have one, I would drink it soon.
