Pours a murky brown/amber with a nice bubbly brown/amber head that dissipates quickly, although the bubbles are continually making their way to the top. The smell is of sour cherries, with some belgian yeastiness and lots of tart funk. could be a little stronger.

The flavor isn't as "explosive" as I was expecting it to be. What I mean is that its a little undercarbonated for the style. The cherries flavors are of sweet, ripe red cherries, and really lack the tartness I was expecting/wanting. The sourness that is apparent gives off a sweet tart flavor that seems a little artificial. Lots of bready yeastiness in the finish/aftertaste. The oakiness gives off a more robust flavor that comes out only after a few sips have already been taken. A good beer for sure, not the best though.

The body should either be thinner, or the beer should be more carbonated. This may be a tough one to get through the whole 750ml, but I think I'll make it.

Sampled in a chalice from a 750ml bottle purchased at Triangle Wine. 2011 Project.

Reddish brown with a haze and minimal head. Fantastic aroma with sweet and sour cherries. Flavors follow closely with loads of sour cherries and a hint of sweetness while still remaining on the drier side. A nice sour bite without it being completely dominant. The fruit flavors also play a key role with their depth and complexity. The consistency and carbonation are moderate with a smooth and silky finish.

This is an outstanding beer with a great combination of sour bite and fruit flavors. I liked it more and more with each sip. But with a significantly higher price than Rodenbach Grand Cru, I wouldn't make it a regular thing.
