A lovely little pub situated in the small but lively village of Wollaston, Northamptonshire. My sister is a resident of Wollaston, which in turn gave me the opportunity to find this little gem.

You can enter through either the front of the building or alternatively at the side situated close to the outside seating area. I always remember my first visit --- The interior is very old fashioned with a low ceiling, and has all the markings of a typically old school British pub. It's carpet corner to corner with a games machine nestled away to the left of the fireplace by the exit!

In terms of the beer, well, it's very much a real ale pub. Very little in the way of bottled beers, perhaps three at most which are all commercial. There are six handpumps, five of which I find to be constant - Fuller's London Pride, Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Timothy Taylor's Golden Best, Greene King's Abbot Ale, and Shepherd Neame's Spitfire. One tap is reserved for guests ales which are on rotation. There is a list of guest ales 'coming soon'. On my last visit I was lucky enough to find Oakham's Bishops Farewell & Inferno on. Two wonderfully hoppy ales.

Atmosphere is very lively, mostly locals with the majority of which drinking real ale. The front of the bar can become crowded when busy, but you can order from the other side of the bar through the alcove by the other seating area. Either way, service is very good. On a Sunday afternoon you are sure to find at least a dog or two lazily occupying the floor or a bar stool for that matter! A really lovely thing to see in my opinion. There is a very nice decking outside which boasts a spacious seating area, which is perfect for a hot summers day.

Prices are extremely reasonable. While I can't tell you off the top of my head the price of a pint trust that it's no more than three pounds. Staff are extremely friendly and you can tell that great care is taken conditioning the ales as they are always top notch. Bar Food is not available.

I really feel this is a dying breed of pubs and I will be sick when the day comes that this type of pub ceases to exist, however, I still think it's regarded as an important part of British culture and can't see this one chancing anytime soon. Really excellent pub
