Brewed about 6 months ago I found a lone bottle of this at the Bermuda in Lower Burrel for 10 bucks total. Going into this I expect some peanut butter taste and balanced roast.

A - Still quite carbonated giving me a 1/4 inch of deep mocha head atop of one dark looking beer almost pitch except for a bit of ruby hue at the base. Head pulls back to a decent sticky looking lace ring.
S - Getting some mild peanut or almond but mostly strong roasts, and bittersweet chocolates are dominant in the aroma.
T - The peanuts really do take some of the bitter edge off of the hops and roasty base. Not as sweet at all so you never really get chocolate more of a dry chalky cocoa taste.
M - I could feel the peanut oils in my mouth this beer is light to medium in body not too dry or sweet. If anything it could use more carbonation but thats forgiven since the beer is over 6 months old.

Like others stated I wish the peanut butter would have been a bit stronger in this but it is present giving you some peanut oil sweetness that adds some complexity to the base porter. A very well done experimental beer.

A: pours completely jet black, there a slight film that is created worth of head (if you even want to call it that) with very minimal lacing.

S: chocolate, nutty, smokey/burnt malt, with a strong creamy lactose in the background. pretty

T: dull and basic. subtle chocolate, and huge amount of nuttiness. also a strong lactose sugar in the finish.

M: so much water! this is way too light and if there was a bit more viscosity this could be a much better brew. doesn't leave much on the palate either.

O: glad to have tried this brew out as it sounded very intriguing. but Terrapin missed the mark on this side project.

Big thanks to Sam for this one. An interesting beer that I've wanted to try for a while. 22oz. bomber into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a 1.5 finger light mocha head with poor retention. Beer is an opaque, pitch black. No lacing with very thin legs. Just below average.

Nose is chocolate, lactose, cocoa, and just a splash of peanuts and peanut shell. Moderately aromatic but it works nicely.

Opens chocolate, lactose and roasted malt. Peanut aroma and flavor lingers in the background. More chocolate and coca cola in the middle. End is peanut, chocolate, and more lactose. Aftertaste of roasted malt. Pretty simple but just as promised. And its better than I expected.

Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Lively with some bubbles in the mouth and goes down smooth. Messy finish with a lingering aftertaste. Even though this one's got ample carbonation, it comes across very smooth, really helping to integrate the flavors.

A big want of mine ever since I heard about it, Liquid Bliss delivers exactly what I want it to. I wish the peanut flavors were a bit more pronounced but this beer is well balanced overall and the aroma and body carry the flavors over beautifully. Definitely worth trying.

Appearance: Cola dark black glass, has a little transparency at the edges that show some clear white light that highlights the tight thin halo or bubbles. The head died off pretty quickly, often an issue with beers that try fatty flavors (peanut here).

Smell: I started too cold, but it's giving me some chocolate stout whiffs. Chocolate is sweet but evaporates in a light alcohol vapor.

Taste: The dry porter base is a solid beer, no flaws, is slightly sweet with a rich malt flavor. The chocolate note is like Hershey's syrup but dries out with a astringently dry finish that leaves it a bit powdery. There's a big peanut on the label, but I'm missing it here in the flavor. Can't say as I've had a peanut beer before, but I just don't taste it. What is here is a solid porter with a nice chocolate flavor. The cola soda color thing has me tasting some of that too.

Mouthfeel: Light body, slick texture, dry finish. Carb level is a bit low for my tastes, but within range for a porter.

Overall: Yum! My main beef is that it's a little lifeless in the feel. Taste is chocolate goodness, but a bit sweet for the full bomber. Makes it a good one to share, or sip slow, which the carb issue becomes more of a factor with.
Cheers to Terrapin and their side projects, I'll take all I can get.

Poured out of a bottle into my tulip.

A – Dark brown on the pour with a light tan head that produced about an inch of head. Dissipated quickly and settled.

S – Fairly light smell with a roasty aroma. Chocolate and mocha.

T – Roasted malt immediately. Light chocolate and mocha like the smell. There is a peanut butter flavor but its very small, as it warms it comes through a bit more. Subtle sweetness. The chocolate flavor does linger after each sip which is nice.

M – Good carbonation, light to medium feel. Creamy.

O – Good not great brew. I would have personally like to have had a bit stronger peanut butter flavor. I got much more of a chocolate taste out of this. This was a easy drinker and I did enjoy it.

A: This poured a nearly opaque dark mahogany with some tan head.
S: It smelled like roasted coffee and dark chocolate, with some copper hops and sweet peanut butter.
T: It tasted like roasted coffee and sweet milk chocolate and creamy peanut butter, with a little copper hops. It had a mild bittersweet aftertaste.
M: It was slightly thick with a little carbonation. Nice slick body.
D: I was skeptical, but Terrapin pulled this brew off surprisingly well. The peanut butter character was obvious enough without over doing it, and it was well integrated with the chocolate and other flavors. The body was good, but could have been a bit bigger. The finish was smooth, so it was easy to drink. Fun beer.

A: dark brown/black body yielding a two finger off-white head, slowly dies leaving slightly spider web foamy lacing in the wake

T: sweet through the chocolate and roasted peanuts takes a second place

M: light to medium, borderline watery yet still smooth, dry sweet aftertaste, sticky bitter finish

O: I never thought peanut butter could be done in any beer, this isn't bad, though I smelled peanut butter but tasted roasted peanuts says that this is interesting stuff, maybe not something I'd seek out again, but hey, I might have to pursue the idea of how well its done in other beers ...???

Poured from a bomber into a pint

I drank this over two sittings. First one, I had the beer at cellar temp, ~50 degrees. Didnt chill it, poured about a 4oz pour. Hated it. Finished the pour and thought very seriously about drain pouring. However, I've never drain poured a craft beer. I basically refuse to do it. I've only disliked one other beer this badly before (hint it tastes like raspberry white wine and everyone frikiNG loves it...) Anyway, as I did with the prior instance, I put a wine cap on the bottle and put it in the fridge. Letting the beer oxidize in the fridge for 24hrs, sometimes it helps...

I took it out of the fridge tonight, a day later, and its much much better. Review is based on tonight's experience

A - Looks quite standard. Brown/black, tan loose foam, produces an inch or so of head that dissipates quite quickly.

S - A good amount of roasty peanuts. Some chocolate. Not much else. I want to give it a higher rating, because it really does hit the target quite well. Peanuts and chocolate. At the same time, its a novelty. There's no "peanut beer" style, if there were, this would be a 4.5. But, its a porter, so 3.

T - Hits the target really well. Peanuts and chocolate. Not super chewy or pronounced flavors of either one, but I'm not sure how you could really get a thick presentation of peanuts in a beer. The chocolate is a little thin, but comes through in the front, the peanut is more of an aftertaste almost. Think, you just at 2-3 dry roasted peanuts and then took a tiny sip of a Guinness. As a normal beer, this would be a 3-2.5, however, it really does do a good presentation of the peanut and chocolate. Its not really a combo that does well in beer, but this does about as good a job as could be, I gave it a 4 just because I dont know that you could do this a lot better.

M - Maybe if it were thicker, this would be better. In my mind, this would be a super thick, like Marshal Zubkov type thickness. If you could get these flavors in that thickness, I think it could be quite awesome. As it, thin, bubbly, meh.

O - Glad to try it. Would buy it again to share with beer geek buddies just to stretch, but would not buy it for myself.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into a Russian River pint glass.

A: Very dark brown, but not quite opaque, with a one-finger tan head that quickly fades to a layer of foam. Low visible carbonation.

S: Big coffee, sweet and salty, with dark cacao and a bit of hop bitterness.

T: Ah, here's some peanut in the beer. Peanuts and cacao, sweet coffee, lactose creaminess, just a bit metallic, and slight hop bitterness.

M: A thin body for porter, good amount of carbonation, and the alcohol is well-hidden.

O: Interesting beer. Nothing I'd pick up all the time, but glad to have tried it once. I think the flavors profile desired might have been better expressed as a stout.

Pours a deep brown-black tone. Ruby around the edges in the sunlight. Beautiful creamy head, picture perfect porter
Smell is upfront Peanut butter/chocolate.Many complaints I've read were the aroma is more of roasted peanuts than PB, but I've let my bottle age a few months.
Peanut butter, chocolate, cookies, Reese Cup, Nutella, coffee...all in one whiff..wow
Flavor is amazing! Reese cup, nutella, cookie again all mixed with a silky mouthfeel. A stout would have been too heavy to allow all flavors to showcase themselves.Terrapin made a good call by making this mixture into a porter.
Mouthfeel is medium, allowing the peanut butter chocolate blend to really shine through, finishing lighter with a lingering finish of Reese's on the palate.
Well executed,well balanced, anyone that can make something like Wake-n-bake can pull this off.
For what they were going for, they did a great job.
Let those bottles sit a minute before opening

Thanks to Julian for the great extra. The beer sounds interesting. Snifter

A: Black with two fingers of light brown bubbly cream. Good retention.

S: Peanut butter, sugar cookie, and milk chocolate with some dark chocolate as well. There's a little vanilla and a touch of roast. Not unlike nutella.

T: Nutty milk and dark chocolate with a touch of molasses and just a little roast. There's a decided peanut presence throughout that's complimentary and makes things interesting. Low bitterness.

M: Upper medium body with upper medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is creamy, sticky, and silky.

Overall: Well executed. Definitely recommended.

Poured from a bomber into a Duvel tulip

A- pours a dark brown with a two finger dark tan head that quickly fades and leaves a thin layer across the top of the beer. Eh, the head was gone pretty fast...blah, but to be expected

S- a lot of peanuts come through in the nose...not peanut butter mind you, but peanuts, of the boiled variety. Not getting any chocolate to speak of. Eh....

T- as it warms, I get more of the chocolate than initially when it was cold...as for the peanut butter, it comes across more as a peanut taste than the sweetness you'd expect from the peanut butter. Not sure it delivers like I'd expect

M- medium bodied, on the thicker side.

O- not a bad beer, but I've had better chocolate peanut butter beers lately. This falls short.

Poured into a pint glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a 99% opaque black color with a 1/2 inch dark tan head that retains a bit before soon fading to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of surface foam. Slippery non-resilient lacing slides down the glass. Not after too long, the foam decreases to just a paper-thin ring around the glass's edge and zero on the surface

S- Heavy milk chocolate with a faint peanut smell trailing behind. Also some caramel and vanilla.

T- Roasted malt with mainly chocolate coming through and barely any peanut. Also notes of nougat and mocha. Very drinkable and smooth with very little alcohol taste. The flavor profile is a bit one-dimensional bringing just chocolate and not much else.

M- Semi-creamy and moderately viscous. Medium-low carbonation and a mostly full body.

O- Expectations were a bit high for this one and, while they weren't fully met, it's still a good beer. Would probably buy again if it came out in a six-pack format.

A: two finger tan head on a deep dark brown body with fairly thick lacing. Roasted malt, both roasted peanuts and peanut butter which is actually better represented in the aroma than I would expect. Roasted malt and toffee base with what I think is just the right amount of peanut butter flavor which I imagine required quite a large amount to be this prevalent. Fairly thick body and moderate carbonation. Much better than I was expecting. Nice degree of sweetness. Still a fairly simple brew.

Received in a trade and poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Poured a dark brown (not black, just well, dark brown) hue with a nice one finger mocha head that fades to leave thin clouds and a nice foamy halo.

S - The first deep inhale results in chuckling. Smells like a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, it really does. No malts, no hops, ho roast, just chocolate and peanut butter. The aroma is a touch on the sweeter side.

T - Bah, not nearly as good as the nose, but there is alot going on here. Start is typical porter roasted malts and fainter chocolate with a heavy intermingling of raw peanuts. Sweetness begins to creep up and things turn towards the candy side. Chocolate becomes more prominent but tastes slightly artificial with a stronger Reeses Peanut Butter flavor coming across. Nice lingering peanut butter cup finish. While there is alot of different components none seem to really join together. Theres no blur or blending between flavors, its rather cut and dry. Roast, peanuts, chocolate, peanut butter.

M - Mouthfeel is a bit on the sharper side for me. Would like to see it more full and creamy.

O - Overall this was a very unique beer. Wish the flavours melded together more. I actually wish it was a bit sweeter too on the taste based off of how that nose was. That said, this 22oz bottle was a chore to get through. Fun beer.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass at about 45 degrees

A: Has a deep brown coloring to it with little light visibly passing through. as it pours, its a dirty murky color that doesnt really appear too appetizing, little head to speak of.

S: Dont know if it was the bottle or what, but this smelled like skunky raw earthy peanuts and raw malt liquor. Nothing blended well and it wasnt sweet at all.

T: Taste was mild, raw peanuts, slight cheap chocolate on the back end. Not sweet at all like I was expecting from this....again, beer may have been a bad batch?

M: Medium mouthfeel like I enjoy from porters. It was very easy drinking and has a good light oily feel that coated the mouth.

O: I just expected more. Maybe my expectations were high as I really was hoping for a liquified Reese cup and I got a cheap, sugar free peanut butter cup that was dropped in dirt and cooked with the reject peanuts of the batch. I'm aging my 2nd bottle to see what happens.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. Light beige head, moderate retention, soapy, sticky lacing. Aroma includes roasted malt, coffee, peanut butter (yes, I smelled it), chocolate and slight milk dud. Taste includes chocolate, sweet chocolate malt, again slight peanut butter and maybe a hint of vanilla. Very, very delicious and highly drinkable and pretty much exactly as advertised on the flavors. Spectacular.

A - black with a thin brown head that has decent retention

S - roasted malts, nutty, sweet

T - creamy, nutty, roasted malts, fruity, sweet

M - medium bodied, smooth, well carbonated

This was an intriguing beer. It was nutty and had sweet fruitiness to it, but it was still had the typical porter qualities. It was a bit unique with the addition of peanut butter. I applaud them for trying something different. It's worth a try, but I won't be seeking this out again.

a deep brown/black pour with a finger of off-white head. smells of roasted grains, nuts, coffee, dark chocolate. the taste is where it's at with this one! holy crap, this is my first peanut butter beer, and i love it. has all the great qualities of a good porter AND MORE. chocolate, coffee, dark roasted grains, and the goodness of peanut butter (but more leaning towards the artificial reese's flavor, which i like even more!). medium body with a decent amount of carbonation. creamy mouthfeel with a chalky finish.

this is a solid beer from terrapin, and i believe not only my first peanut butter experience with beer, but my favorite experience with terrapin. most the qualities are above average, but the flavor did it for me.

S: Dark chocolate, roasted coffee, raw, earthy peanuts. Reminds me of Reeses pieces.

L: Dark black, light tan carbonated head that dissipates.

T: Peanut up front with some chocolately, light malt. Low bitterness with some milk chocolate. finishes semi-sweet with some residual peanut.

M: Medium light bodied, medium carbonation.

Not bad, really light, I wouldn't mind a little more body and viscosity. Pretty good throughout, i really enjoyed the peanut taste, didn't expect too either.

I was excited to try this one, but I'm not a big fan. Probably my least favorite of Terrapin's side projects (some of which are phenomenal).
Pours out like cola. Brown and translucent at the edges with subtle reddish hints. No real head.
Nose is roasty malts and peanuts. Mostly one-noted. Tast is malt, peat, and earthy peanuts. I don't get creamy peanut butter, rather it's more like peanut shells. Chocolate doesn't come through.
Average mouthfeel. Still worth a try, but I won't be buying more.

Not quite as sweet as I expected. This is definitely a dark chocolate beer. Nice roast level but the peanut butter is too mild. The favors don't pop and there's no real peanut butter in the smell. I would have liked more intensity in flavor and a thicker mouthfeel. I'd pass in the future.

22 oz bottle poured into a snifter at cellar temperature.

L – Black color with some interesting head characteristics. On first pour, a 1-finger fizzy brown head appeared and rapidly dissipated into a fountain of bubbles appearing at the surface of the beer. It was very, very effervescent. In fact, so effervescent that something really peculiar happened – the beer started forming its own head after the original one had dissipated. After finishing that glass and pouring the rest of the bottle in, some more conventional head characteristics were seen with a 1.5-finger bubbly tan head appearing. This time it had decent retention and even some lacing.

S – This does smell like liquid bliss. It smells like a Reese’s cup with silky milk chocolate and creamy peanut butter.

T – The taste is interesting in that different flavors seem to be accentuated with each sip I take. All at different points, I get sweet milk chocolate and lactose, salty and earthy peanut butter, and mildly bitter roasted dark chocolate-like malts. It’s interesting that this beer can be so many different things but seemingly not more than one at a time. If I try to put them all together, I get sweet milk chocolate and lactose coming first, followed by some peanut butter, giving way to some roasted barley, and finally finishing with more peanut butter.

F – Medium-to-full-bodied with crazy carbonation at first that gives way to more reasonable carbonation later, a creamy and smooth mouthfeel, and a sweet and earthy, salty, peanut-y finish. Peanut butter lingers for a short amount of time.

O – This is a good beer and could be a homerun if the flavors all came together. I don’t know why my tongue and palate seem to be playing tricks on me, but I can’t seem to get all the flavors to come together in a single sip. Nevertheless, this is a very tasty beer. I think Terrapin made the right decision in making this a porter. If it was an imperial stout, I’m afraid that the peanut butter taste may have been drowned out even more than it is already. I’d maybe like to see how this would do with a bigger base beer, but I’m happy with how it is now, too.

Black body, ruby highlights, two fingers of light tan foam that rapidly decayed to a tabletop.

Aroma is an inviting assertive blend of chocolate and peanuts.

Taste is...exactly as promised. A quick malt base, followed by big, big chocolate and peanut butter, good stuff too.bite of ops at the swallow. Big chocolate finish, like Dark Hershey syrup.

Smooth rich mouthfeel, no surprise here.

A terrific nitecap or dessert beer. Seek it out.

Almost black pour with no head retention and little lacing. Great smell to start - chocolate comes through and a little of the maltiness. Taste is more chocolate, but somewhat subdued by the peanuts. They didn't really make it salty, but definitely balanced the sweetness and chocolate flavor. A very interesting beer and one that I would try again.
