Poured from Bomber into Globe glass.
A: Murky yellow-orange color with a two finger bubbly head.
S: Yeasty with bananas and honey. Not picking up much hoppiness at first.
T: Traditional hefe taste with a hoppy citrus backbone. More emphasis on the wheat than I expected but enough hop bitterness to justify the IPA classification.
M: Creamy but lighter than expected for 8+%.
O: IPA's and Hefeweizen's are two of my favorite styles. If you like both this beer is worth the time.

Bottle (2012)
Thanks for opening this with me, VaTechHopHead!
A murky, dark honey-orange with a small off-white cap. Leaves the glass messy with irregular lines and sheets of sticky lace.
Strong aroma of citrus, some wheat, and alcohol heat. There's also a definite melon character to the aroma from the choice of hops used.
The flavor is largely bitter, even for the style, along with complementary citrus and melon notes (cantaloupe?). There's some sweet malt character as well, but the overwhelming bitterness hides some of that.
Medium to full-bodied for the style with moderate carbonation.
I suppose this is my favorite German-style wheat IPA...whatever the hell that means.

Appearance: pours a cloudy orange color with a one inch head that breaks apart quickly.
Smell: citrus, banana, and a decent earthy bitterenss rise from the glass.
Taste: caramel, wheat, banana, grapefruit citrus, and some earthy hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Starts out crisp and ends less crisp with a dry finish. Long lasting aftertaste.
Overall: different style beer that was enjoyable, but one pint glass was enough in a session.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber into my CBS snifter.
Appearance: Pours a hazy orange color. Almost no head whatsoever...just a very thin white layer. Some decent lacing from what little head there is.
Smell: Starts off with some juicy hop aromas and then the Hefeweizen aromas come across...bananas some spiciness, a little bubble gum as well. Really interesting combo. I wasn't sure this would work but it really does.
Taste: Very similar to the aroma. Starts off like your average IPA. It's strong on tropical fruit notes but then shifts to the Hefeweizen flavors. Nice tasting.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a nice prickly level of carbonation. No alcohol is detectable. Drinkability is high. A very enjoyable drink.
Overall: Interesting take on the American IPA. Flavors work really well together. Well done by Terrapin.
