Served on tap at Cork City Pub in Hoboken, NJ
A: Pours an opaque jet black in color with some light hints of visible carbonation and just a touch of dark amber highlights. The beer has a half finger tall dark tan head that slowly reduces to a small patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of semi-sweet chocolate.
T: Light flavors of roasted malts underneath a moderate to strong flavor of milk chocolate and some lactose sweetness - there are some hints of chocolate milk as well.
M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with just shy of moderate amounts of carbonation. Silky.
O: Very enjoyable but not overly rich chocolate flavors make this beer quite easy to drink - it really does remind me of the beer version of chocolate milk. Definitely worth grabbing when you see this one around, I have had it numerous times but this is the first time I had gotten to reviewing it.

Poured from bottle into pint glass. Nice looking deep black pour with a small off white head that fades away to a tiny trace. Smell is that of milk chocolate, carmel, sugar and perhaps a hint of coffee. Taste follows the nose, but it's the smooth blend of flavors that makes this brew stand out. Hit of chocolate milk and roasted malts on the front with a great transition to sugar and milk with a subtle hop close. Feel is just rights for the style. Silky and creamy on the tongue. Adequate carbonation. Overall- My favorite milk stout to date. Great taste that is sessionable and a tough brew to sit down. Not overly chocolate or milky. Smooth with excellent roasted malts. A very solid brew and must try-

2012 version, poured into a pint glass from a bottle purchased today from Taps, my local bottle shop and tasting room. I was intrigued after seeing it 2 weeks ago at the World Beer Festival in Columbia, SC, thought I'd give it a go.
Poured into my pint glass it becomes a dark, murky and mysterious stranger. "Moo Hoo who are you?"
It has a minuscule head with a tiny bit of lacing which peaks out shyly before disappearing into the body of the beer.
Warm chocolate smell reminds me of going into a Russell Stover store at the holidays. Yum.
Smooth mouthfeel, not at all like the beer I'm most familiar with (IPA's, APA's) I wasn't sure I would like this as my exposure to milk stout has been limited, but pleasantly surprised by the taste. A supremely drinkable milk stout, will have again. Definitely a cold weather beer, probably very nice around a campfire.

2012 version in a 12 oz. bottle that pours a very dark brown body, nearly black. Decent two-finger light tan head that doesn't hang around too long and leaves very little lacing.
Not very complex in the aroma: mostly chocolate with a touch of malt and figs in the background.
The flavor is very similar to the aroma. Mostly chocolate nibs and a small amount of malt in the background. The is an occasional sour note like a ripe raisin, but overall it is as expected - chocolately.
A bit light in texture for a "stout" but it is, again, as expected for a milk stout. Overall, a decent interpretation and fairly enjoyable.

Bottled poured into a CCB Snifter. Thanks to Smokinoak for this one!
A: Opaque black with a nice, dark, tan-colored 1-finger fluffy head. The head disappears pretty quickly and doesn't leave much lacing on the glass.
S: Definite chocolate smells. Malty, with some wofts of black licorice and even some dark sweetness that almost smells like fruity figs.
T: Chocolate through and through dominates. A little malty.
M: A little watery for my liking. Not as thick as I would have loved. Good level of carbonation, but not real creamy like I would anticipate.
O: Not bad, but I had some pretty high hopes. If I would have gone in with zero expectation I wouldn't have been disappointed, so I'm trying to think of it that way. Just wish it would've been a little creamier. Overall ok.

12 ounce bottle poured into a snifter.
A: Pours a black color with a half finger head and some lacing.
S: Chocolate, sweet malts, and some licorice.
T: Milk chocolate and roasted malts. Slightly watered down, but tasty.
M: Light to medium bodied with light carbonation.
O: A little lighter than I prefer, but appropriate for a milk stout. Quite enjoyable.

12oz bottle into a pint glass
2012 Vintage
A: Pours an opaque black with less than 1 fingers width of mocha colored head. Dissipates down pretty quickly. Leaves only the faintest hints of spotty lacing.
S: Chocolate, milk/lactose, peanut butter fudge. Quite sweet. Not terribly complex but smells really nice.
T: Lots of chocolate. Milk chocolate upfront with bakers chocolate on the finish. Hints of roasted malt. The lactose characters arent overly prominent, which is nice, as sometimes I find that unappealing in a Sweet Stout. Tasty.
M/D: Smooth, appropriate low carbonation, a touch thin, but drinkability is very good.
O: Overall, this is a well done brew. Im not a huge fan of the style, but this is one of the better ones I have had. Is a touch thin, and not terribly complex, but nice aroma and flavor, with good drinkability. I would drink this again, and am looking forward to making a Wake N Moo.

Smells of sweet lactose and chocolate, sweet dark malts, not a lot of roast.
Taste is wonderful, strong chocolate but not overpowering, sweet but not cloying, the flavors are very well balanced and integrated. Would be an exaggeration to say this actually tastes like chocolate milk, but there is some similarity.
The mouthfeel is amazing, extremely smooth and creamy. This is one of the most drinkable stouts I've ever had, I could easily session this and I usually have trouble drinking stouts quickly.
Fantastic beer, one of my favorite non-imperial stouts. I drink this multiple times a week during the winter when it's on shelves.

Bottle from Total Wine Tampa FL for 2.50$
Appearance - Dark brown colour with an average size fizzy beige head. I can't make out the amount of carbonation showing and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for only 2-3 minutes before it was gone.
Smell - Malts, chocolate
Taste & Mouth - There is a below average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. There are also some metallic notes and something herbal. It ends with a watery-chocolatey aftertaste.
Overall - It has a great smell, but the taste and the mouthfeel fall short unfortunately. There are some odd flavours and there isn't enough chocolate.

I really enjoy what Terrapin does, and I really like milk stouts. But this was not the best milk stout I've had. Don't get me wrong, this is a very good beer, but I was expecting the best because I know Terrapin.
It's really chocolatey. Almost more chocolate stout than chocolate milk stout. It's really dark, which I like. It doesn't sit too heavy, which is a good thing. I could drink another one (or more). It has a decent head, almost sticks around throughout.
The thing I liked the most about this was the creaminess. Not super creamy, but just enough to notice and too enjoy.

Pours a beautiful black color, no ruby hints in this brew. Tan head is thick, creamy and really nice to admire. From Yoo-hoo as a kid to Moo-Hoo, ..I like it Bottle from 2011.
Smell is upfront a touch of alcoholic heat, spiced dark dried fruit, coffee, a few swirls later cocoa comes out in a big way.Cream, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, bitter oatmeal. I detect black cherries and plum in there as well.
Taste exceeds aroma.Much more chocolate.Upfront is milk chocolate, Hershey, cream, coffee, followed by a nice bitterness-oats, touch of pepper and then the dark fruit comes into play.Dark malts provide a background for this mix of chocolate, coffee, fruit and spice.
Really nice, Wake and Bake is of course in a league of its own,
I'd really like to try a nitro version of this next to Left Hand Milk Nitro.

An extra in a trade
A-Black in the glass, one finger head that doesn't last long. Clear brown around the edges and when pouring.
S-Roasted malt, some coffee, tad bit of chocolate.
T-Roasty, good deal of dark chocolate, some coffee, sweet. No bitterness.
M-Lighter, nice carbonation and creamy.
O-A nice milk stout, would have liked to have seen some vanilla sneek in the flavors as well.

F - medium bodied with mild carbonation, easy to drink.
O - a good (chocolate) milk stout.

Appearance- opaque brown with half a finger of dark brown foam. no lacing and not too fizzy
Aroma- cocoa, brown sugar, roasty
Taste- rich and chocolately low fizz and low hop profile. this is dessert. I think this is a little less hoppy and a little thicker than the Youngs.
Mouthfeel- could use a bit more effervescence but its not too thick or sticky on the palette, for being that sweet.
Overall- I would have another its tasty, but not too exciting like a glass of chocolate milk.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Sam Adams perfect Pint Glass. Liquid comes out dark brown with some slightly lighter brown highlights. Nice tan colored head, very small bubbles and good lacing.
Smell is good, super nice milk chocolate. Initially it smells like a milk chocolate bar that was melted into hot chocolate. Still there's a dark maltiness that is present, maybe some slight toffee present, but chocolate is the dominant feature here.
Taste is similar to the smell. Plenty of sweet milk chocolate. Large malt backbone, but chocolate/coco is the dominant feature here. Not really a milky or lactose flavor at all which I expected a little bit, but this is a nice interpretation of the style.
Mouthfeel is good. Smooth with a nice carbonation level. Full bodied but not too milky. Like I said it's super smooth and more sweet than not. Kind of nice, often it's more of a bitter chocolate, but this is more of a smooth and sweet one. I'm digging it. Really drinkable, this one goes fast. Overall a really good representation of the style. Thanks EasyReader for the great hookup!

Pours totally black with a short tan head.
Light chocolate aroma.
Chocolaty flavor with a nice lactose sweetness. Creamy. Quite like chocolate milk.
The body is creamy, continuing the milkshake-like qualities.
Overall a good milk stout that worth seeking out. An underrated style.

I ordered this beer at the 5 spot (Atlanta, Little 5 points) because it looked like the most interesting thing they had on tap. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this beer tasted. To me, reminded me of drinking a glass of chocolate milk. Was extremely smooth. I enjoyed every sip. Highly recommend you try this beer if you are a chocolate lover.

Poured from bottle to pint class. Served well chilled, but I let it warm up a bit before consuming.
Pours black. Little head that settles into a light cream colored smattering of bubbles across the top.
Smells like chocolate milk. Seriously. There is some nice caramel malt sweetness behind the creamy chocolate aroma.
It really is a chocolate milk stout. Tastes of sweet malt, chocolate, lactose sweetness, a little bit of chocolatey bitterness. Big in body and very creamy.
I'm really impressed with this stout. It's definitely a fun, occasional beer. It balances the chocolate milk aspect without straying too far from a basic stout.

Picked this up in NC
Pours mahogany with a pinky of mocha head. Minimal head retention & lacing
S: Chocolate, cocoa powder
T: Follows the nose, nice cocoa powder with a touch of lactose twang & faint bits of roastyness up front. Milk choclate sweetness as this warms, plus mocha notes & dryness. Finishes with cocoa, chococlate & even a bit of caramel
MF: Medium bodied with slight carbonation, nice creamyness
What a great milk stout! I could drink this all the time, but will settle for getting it the next time I'm down south. This is sooo much than the so-called chocolate beer Boulevard puts out

Outstanding to find this on tap at Whole Foods in Devon. Pours very dark brown with just a little head. Smell is very sweet. This is the first beer that I've ever had that made me nostalgic for something in my childhood reminding me of the cafeteria's chocolate milk with just a little bit of carbonation added on (my parents used to pour a little bit of soda into plain milk to get me do drink it). No bitterness at all like some other chocolate stouts.

Served in a pint.
A - Deep chocolate brown hue with a one-finger tan head. Good retention and lacing.
S - Sweet milk chocolate, vanilla, mild roasted malts and a touch of coffee.
T - Lots of sweetness here. I tend to shy away from milk stouts due to this characteristic. Roasted malts and cherry in the finish.
M - Thin medium body, on the silky side. Moderate carbonation kept it from being poor.
O - I cannot help but get a taste similar to coconut from the combination of sweet flavors found in milk stouts. And I do not like coconut. This is a fair showing, but I would be content never having it again.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter at fridge-cellar temperature.
L – Black color with a 1.5-finger creamy, rocky brown head. Nice retention and some nice patchy lacing.
S – Chocolate malt, lactose, and a little bit of roasted malt, but that’s about all I get.
T – Starts off sweet with a flavor that tastes just like chocolate milk and gradually shifts to subtly bitter roasted malt. Cocoa sweetness reappears after the small amount of bitterness fades.
F – Medium-to-full-bodied with good carbonation, a creamy and smooth mouthfeel, and a sweet finish. Sweet chocolate milk lingers nicely.
O – This is a pretty good milk stout. It is definitely sweet and certainly lives up to the label of a “chocolate milk” stout. Worth a try, but if I’m reaching for a stout, I’m much more fond of their Wake-n-Bake.

Nice chocolately stout...I love chocolate stouts, and this is a very easy drinking, smooth example of this to me. I like a lot of the heavier examples, but this is something light enough to drink a couple of on a weekly basis. Not too heavy, not real high alcohol, very drinkable.

shout out to AtlCarl for this one! thanks man!
A: pours a deep/dark brown color, creates about 2 fingers worth of head formation with very nice lacing. a nice bubbly film remains once the head dies down.
S: the chocolate character is awesome. a solid mixture of sweet fudge and milk chocolate with just a touch of bitter dark chocolate. there's a slight dark fruit character lying in the back ground adding just a touch of complexity. The brews is fairly one dimensional, but it is still pretty nice
T: all chocolate here (slight fudge, but mostly just milk chocolate) with a extreme cream finish. solid malt backbone. That's really all that is present.
M: on the lighter side of medium bodied. goes down very quickly leaving just a slight sweet milk chocolate taste on the palate.
O: glad to have tried this brew. this would definitely be something that I would purchase if I can access to it, as it would be fantastic if paired with some desert.
