Picked up this evening on a beer run in Duluth while on business... I'm looking forward to this one quite a bit. I've heard some good things about it...
Pouring this into a wine glass...
Beautifully golden with a nice foamy thick head... looks great...
Juicy pineapple, oranges, grapefruit, mangoes... all the tropical fruits show up in the aromas and surprise the hell out of me... This is pungent!! I'm very impressed with the aromas on this... This has West Coast written all over it... Sticky and dank...
Nice balance of sweet malts and an overwhelming juicy bitterness from the tropical fruit hops... A big beer for sure... There's a little heat present here but at 11%, I was sorta expecting it... It's not distracting but there's a definite burn in the chest after a few nice sips... As this warms a little, it gets a little barleywine-ish as the malts come through and really start pumping out a sweetness...
A nice beer for sure... I like it a lot although at this ABV, it could hurt you fast...

Dark orange brew. Hazy. Dense-looking. Quarter of an inch of white head. Held there in check.
Grapefruit and pine hops, drier than standard imperial red fare. Toffee, booze, and lots of sappy dank hops. Great nose. A little sweet.
Semi-sweet and sappy dank pine hops, notes of cooked grapefruit, caramel, toffee, blood orange, and alcohol. Even sweeter as it warms. Almost raisin-y, in the way that the dark fruits offer more sweetness. Toasty and hoppy, but not off-the-chain.
Softly carbonated. Thick syrupy body. Filled-out. Still a lot of booze in the mouth.
Good DIPA. Not outstanding, just good.

Terrapin : Hopzilla
Eye: Clear copper color, white filmy head. Leaves some spotty lace.
Nose: Pine and citrus hops with some candied orange and fusel alcohol especially as it warms slightly. Bright hops and alcohol.
Tongue: Citrusy hops, firm maltyness and a good presence of alcohol. Faint caramel, biscuit and pine flavor are intertwined.
Mouth: Medium to full bodied on the palate with a stinging carbonation and hop bite drying the beer out slightly.
Mind: Good beer, when cold it is sublime, as it warms it gets a little pushy. Still a top notch double IPA. Any lupulin fans will enjoy this.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- A hazy amber copper color with almost no head.
S- Grapefruit, tropical fruits, some resin and pine.
T- Again tropical fruits and grapefruit, pine, biscuity malts, some earthy spices, some alcohol, not very bitter.
M- Smooth, medium body.
O- A solid sweeter DIPA. Would probably pick this up again, but doesn't stand out too much.
