A - Nice orange gold body. Creamy white head with mixed bubble structure, nice lace and retention.
S - Herbal thyme, sweet malt, and red grapes. Kiss of booze warms things up a bit.
T - Sweet honey, malt, grapefruit citrus, and green parsley. Some of the warm booze from the nose is in there too. Nice residual bitterness on the backend.
M - Smooth, medium body. Nice carbonation.
O - A solid IPA. Nice balance, good drinkability, and a nice hop character.

Picked up this bottle in North Carolina. Poured into a New Belgium snifter. The beer pours dark amber with a nice head and decent retention and lacing. The nose is faint and floral with hints of citrus and a little alcohol sweetness.
Interesting flavor here. Instead of going for an assertive hop bitterness, you get a caramel-like sweetness and a moderate hop addition, yet the finish is plenty dry. I get flavors of honey, lemon, grapefruit, and some ginger. The body is medium, the mouthfeel is quite firm and a little creamy on the front of the palate.
Overall, this is a good IPA. It's not what I would consider top-shelf, but it is certainly better than average. Given the abundance of IPAs on the market, that is saying something.

12 oz bottle, best by first week of Nov.
A - Deep copper with only a slight haze - relatively clear. Modest off white head falls quickly. Carbonation appears relatively high.
S - Faint lemon. Quite modest.
T - Complex graininess in the front to mid with very crisp bitterness on the tail. Hops are slightly resiny at the finish, but it is very dry.
M - Light bodied with brisk carbonation.
O - Better than the sum of its parts, it is quite drinkable and refreshing.

F**k you in the Face
This category goes out to my friend Michael Kraus. He said that he likes a beer where the quality that people want in it (the sweetness, hops, bitterness, etc) is so strong it fucks you in the face. This one has a clear winner. Terrapin’s Hopsecutioner
Terrapin Hopsecutioner
.
This beer is nothing if not hoppy. Of the many breweries in the country, Terrapin handles hops some of the best. Of the many breweries in the south, Terrapin is one of the most known and respected. The beer is incredibly hoppy, but still drinkable. It is truly a triumph to Spike and the Terrapin crew.

Poured a dark golden color with two finger foam head, lots of lace. Aroma had some fruit and floral hops. Taste started out slightly sweet and malty with a creamy feel then turned a bit dry with a floral bitterness that stuck around turning a bit sticky. Overall I liked it but it seemed to lack flavor up front and by the time the bitterness hits you its dry sticky and to late.

I bought a 6 pack at Bruno's in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Crystal clear golden pour with an inch of foamy head.
Big piney nose.
Piney hops and malt are very well balanced, grapefruit and orange in the middle with a clean, crisp finish.
I've had this beer in my fridge for 3 weeks, so it may have outlasted it's prime. I remember the pine being stronger up front with a better fruit middle.
It's a great IPA fresh, my review is probably a lilttle low, hopefully a find it fresh in my neck of the woods one day.

Poured from the bottle a bright clear copper color with two fingers of white head.
Lighter aroma of pine and grapefruit.
The taste opened with pine and grapefruit and a balanced with a hit of earthy malts.
Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation.
A pretty decent IPA but not one of my favorites.

Served in a bottle at ESPN Club in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
A: Pours a crystal clear dark copper to golden brown with very light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall dense beige head that reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the beer, several thicker patches, and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant lacing is observed.
S: There are moderate aromas of caramel malt sweetness as well as some pretty heavy aromas of hops - specifically grapefruit, tropical/passionfruit, and pine.
T: The beer starts out with a light taste of caramel malt sweetness that is quickly overtaken by the hop bitterness (not overly aggressive bitterness) - primarily pine/resin but with some grapefruit and tropical/passionfruit as well. Some lingering bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly dry in the finish.
O: Overall this is a very drinkable beer, certainly not a session beer as the ABV is a little too high for that and the flavors are a little too intense. More well balanced than expected.

Served this 12 oz. brown bottle in a Sam Adams glass. Dated best by: Month 6 Week 1. (consumed toward the end of May, reviewed from notes). The hazy body was deep orange/apricot colored and the fine head was off white.
The smell was hard candy and malt syrup.
The taste defied the sweet aroma, thankfully. Tropical fruit with a pleasantly astringent, sharp bitterness. Juicy citrus flavor was clean and bright. Just like I like IPAs, out of balance and sharp, with just enough malt for body and contrast.
The mouthfeel was medium in body with plenty of carbonation. I would pick this up again.

A: Golden brown with 2 finger head (aggressive pour), a lot of lacing but quickly disappears.
S: Grapefruit, passion fruit, malt
T: Grapefruit, bitterness from the hops, grassy-ness, sweet malt, other fruits that I cannot identify. It's hoppy, but not dominently hoppy (like its name suggests). It finishes slightly bitter, but not super bitter.
M: It felt a bit flat for some reason. For its light body, it needs a bit sharper carbonation, imo.
O: It was good, but not great.

12 oz into hotel dixie cup =(, best if enjoyed by sept week 3
A- golden, creamy white head
S- Big citrus notes, fruity, nice
T-Creamy, sweet, some citrus, a bit floral, very drinkable, not that hoppy
M Really thick without having the big malt backbone, hard to describe
O- This beer is pretty drinkable, its not spectacular, and I would not buy it again for the price, but there is nothing really wrong with it.

Bottle poured into a glass
Pours a slightly cloudy orangish color with a white head that lingers a bit.
Smell is piney with hints of citrus
Taste is piney oily hops with a slight sweetness. Little hop bite on the aftertaste. Little or no malt in the taste or finish.
A solid out of my region IPA that I was glad to get a chance to try.

Poured into a. 13 oz tulip glass, best bymid July. Pours a wonderful orange, with a one inch white that leaves nice lace. Smell is pine, tangerine, grass, carmel, and grapefruit. Taste is all of that, balanced nicely with some marijuana flavors in the finish. Body medium large, plenty of life, lush not dry, and very drinkable. Thanks again to friend Pat for bringing this treat from Florida for me. This is very a solid IPA.

Found at World of Beers in Altamonte Springs, FL this IPA has a yellow amber color, clear and fairly quiet, with a very solid white head that sticks and leaves a hearty skin behind. The aroma has very light citrus, lemon wheat, not much else. Okay. The flavor follows with a bit stronger citrus hop and a bright malt biscuit backbone. I taste what seems like alcohol, which at 7.2 percent, it probably is. This edge seems to mask the hop qualities in my opinion and steels the IPA value I was looking for. Really makes it ordinary to me. This is medium-light bodied with a busy, small bubble carbonation that delivers a crisp feel. It ultimately turns entirely harsh and grassy to me and is more regrettable than memorable, but it’s not awful. Disappointing though. I don't think I had any problems with it in a bottle, but this one on tap has some issues.

A: Pours out of the bottle a semi-hazy yellow-orange color with about a finger of white head. The head doesn't stick around for all that long, but it does leave behind some lacing.
S: Really citrusy aroma with a large amount of hop oils. Slight malt base, but really all about the citrusy, bitter, hop oils. It stands out when compared to other American IPAs with this interesting and different aroma.
T: Resinous hops all over the place. Citrus, oils, pine, tropical fruits, and a slight caramel malt note. It's very different from what I'm used to, and it isn't bad, but I think I prefer the big, bitter hops instead of the oily side of things.
MF: Light to medium body with a lower than average amount of carbonation. The finish is nice and dry with hop bitterness. Drinkability is decent. The balance here is nice, but the resinous hops are starting to get to me.
O: This was pretty good. Different, and tasty. I'd say if you haven't yet, give it a try! You might like it even more than I did.

On tap at a local joint that rotates a few crafters.
A- clear copper-orange color with a fluffy 2-finger head. Mega-lacing.
S- citus hops with a touch of sweetness. Clean and mild.
T-Citus with some pine. Hoppy with just a hint of malt.
M-light and refreshing, disguising the 7.3% abv nicely. A bit of pine resin, some carbonation for livliness and a litte hop tang. Clean dry finish.
O-Easy drinking IPA. Not overpowering, could be a good intro beer to this style. And the second pour was better than the first, that's good.

On tap at Terrapin brewery. Served in a Terrapin pint glass.
Pours vibrant clear copper with a frothy 1.5 finger pale head. A little lacing as it goes down.
Nose is orangey citrus hops and sweet bread.
Big citrus hop taste with plenty of breadyness. The malts are only barely present and the moderate 7ish% abv is well hidden.
Medium light bodied with a pretty hefty carbonated zing.
Overall it's not my go-to local IPA but it's quite serviceable. It isn't mind blowing but certainly worth a try if you get a chance.

A: Light amber, no haze, slightly pinkish tone while pouring (before bubbles came out)
S: Hops. Grassy, planty, resinous, slightly soapy. Light malt present
T: Incredible burst of piney, resinous hop right up front. Soon, citric, floral hop notes blend in, followed by the balance of honey & shortbread cookie malt.
A: Smooth, with slight bready malt taste nearly completely smothered by the lingering hop bitterness. Floral & piney flavors linger.
Overall: A no-nonsense IPA, with plenty of big, bold hop presence throughout. While not extremely complex, several different hop flavors combine with a subdued, but essential balancing light malt for a well-crafted, completely enjoyable beer. The 7.3% ABV is detectable, but the alcohol serves more as a flavor-blender than a flavor element unto itself.

I am sampling a 2 year old bottle from my cellar that I poured into a snifter.
The beer pours a mostly clear amber to copper color with some sediment suspended in the beer. The last 1 cm of the bottle is heavy with sediment and I decant as carefully as possible but left some behind in the bottle.
Scant eggshell color foam builds up on the surface and fades instantly to a sturdy edge layer.
Aroma is grapefruit rind and general citrus notes with some pine sap and a bit of caramel. Not a super pungent hop boost, but definitely present.
First sip reveals an average body with light crisp texture and very fine tingly carbonation.
Flavor is briefly caramel and grain but rolls to fairly assertive grapefruit rind and pine sap hops. Finishes dry and leaves an astringent taste in my mouth.
A well made IPA that may have been less balanced fresh from the brewery, as it stands it is a tasty brew that I consumed very quickly with no hint of the booze evident as I drained my glass.

A: Golden Straw/Amber Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head, Some Lacing

Bottle in Florida 4/2012 from notes.
Pours a slightly hazy deep golden bordering on amber with a smallish off white head that dissipates quickly into my glass. Smells of citrus and pine mostly with hints of caramel apricot and toffee. It took a couple of days to find this but yeah this is what I needed after days of macro only restaurants. Taste is sweet up front with bready toffee malts that quickly fade to citrus and pine. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a resinous and sweet mouthfeel. Nice brew, it almost works in 85 degree weather too.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass.
A: Gold color, slight haze. Not a whole lot of visible carbonation leads to half a finger of head head that dissipates fairly quickly. This beer looks dead inside.
S: Overall seems a little muted in this department. Citrus & floral hops primarily. There is some malt/roasty aroma in the background to me.
T: The citrus hop flavor dominates upfront, but it is more of orange/grapefruit rinds than the fruit itself. There is indeed some maltiness in here. Piney and bitter flavors take over at the end as the dryness sets in, but not in a bad way.
M: Much better than I expected. Mouthfeel has *way* more carbonation than the appearance would suggest, to be sure. As it dissipates the texture is almost creamy. Bitterness doesn't last too long.
O: This is a good beer, and one that I will likely pick up again. But there's nothing particularly exceptional here.

Forgot to let this one warm up a bit before trying it. Will need to do this again.
A - blah blah blah
S - Metallic initially, later a bit malty and a bit hoppy
T - Not particularly hoppy until the aftertaste, at least when drunk cold. I was expecting a lot more. I got this from a grocery store choose-your-own-six rack though, so who knows how long it might have been sitting there. The main thing I get out of this is a fairly dry finish and a somewhat stripped tongue feel afterwards with just a bit of residual hop bitterness. I also get a subtle pulsing tingle afterwards that I haven't encountered before, though I've avoided IPAs until recently.
M - dry
O - With a name like Hopsecutioner, you gotta bring it! This one didn't seem to. Hopsadaisy more like. It was pretty easy drinking though, and would be pleasant enough as a sessioner.
