12oz bottle (Vintage09AA) poured into a Portsmouth goblet. Received in a trade with BeerLovinGrl. Thanks Chrissy!

A - Pours a crystal clear, bright copper with a 1/2" creamy white head of tiny, dense bubbles. Head lingers for a while - dissipates to a thin ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass. Leaves a nice, even lacing

S - Smells of citrusy hops, spicey rye and bready malt and a hint of alcohol. Pretty well balanced.

T - Taste is balanced towards the malt. Sweet malt background with the rye flavors on top. Rye comes thru nicely and lingers into the aftertaste. Good hop bitterness rounds things out. Some spicy hop flavor comes thru.

M - Mouthfeel is thick and chewy. Malt coats the entire mouth and the rye lingers after the swallow. Carbonation is ample. A little on the heavy side.

D - Drinkability of this one is average. Tastes really good, but is on the heavy side. Alcohol is noticeable but not to a great extent. More of a sipper - seems like a good beer for a cool night on the deck or in front of a fire.

Excellent. Smooth, with a slight citrus presence. “Double the malt, double the hops, and double the flavor of the original Rye Pale Ale recipe. (Hence the name Rye Squared.) With its mammoth hop aroma, bitterness and flavor, this beer is not for the faint at heart. The Rye Squared clocks in at a hefty 8.5% ABV so double your pleasure and double your fun because Terrapin went a little crazy with this one!”

It's a shame they retired this, it was one of my favorites and the best rye I've ever had.
