Last bottle of 2011 batch. Pours hazy amber with a large fluffy off-white head that leaves nice webs of lacing and holds an excellent cap. Aroma is all sorts of citrus, pineapple, grapefruit, tangerines, mango, peaches, also some caramel malt and rye notes. Excellent strength. Flavor is more of the citrus cocktail found in the nose, good caramel malt in the middle, rye spice kicks in at the end, moderate bitterness balanced by equal sweetness, minimal alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium-plus, creamy, low-medium carbonation. An excellent brew...underrated, letting it warm before serving does wonders. Looking forward to its release again next year!

12oz bottle, 2008 vintage. Pours dark amber with a one-finger off-white head. Small head retains til the bottom of the glass. Minimal lacing.
First whiff is a blast of piney hops.
Flavor is pine/citrus hops and caramel malt with a nice rye kick. Hops still holding on well for being a year DIPA.
Mouthfeel is smooth and silky, creamy, a bit sticky and chewy with low carbonation. Nice blend of bitter hops up front with sweet malts following behind. This is a rather sweet beer, especially on the finish.
A nice upgrade over the standard Terrapin Rye Pale Ale.
Score: 4's across the board.

Excellent. Smooth, with a slight citrus presence. “Double the malt, double the hops, and double the flavor of the original Rye Pale Ale recipe. (Hence the name Rye Squared.) With its mammoth hop aroma, bitterness and flavor, this beer is not for the faint at heart. The Rye Squared clocks in at a hefty 8.5% ABV so double your pleasure and double your fun because Terrapin went a little crazy with this one!”
It's a shame they retired this, it was one of my favorites and the best rye I've ever had.
