A 22oz bomber with a bottled on date of 6.27.15
L - Dark brown with 1 finger of head. Gorgeous
S - Jelly, and PNB, and jelly, and PNB.
T - Sweet, and with peanuts in the aftertaste. ABV totally hidden
F - Medium body and low carbonation
O - So this beer nails a PB&J sandwich in a brew. Not my favorite style in a beer..peanuts, but hey..can't knock it for being original and being as advertised.

Thanks to Lucular for this 22 oz. bottle that’s been in my fridge since receipt…because my wife wouldn’t touch a P&B/Jelly beer. Split with my wife. Who doesn’t know what she’s drinking.
Dark. The nose, holy peanut butter. That’s it. Peanut butter & peanuts.
Liquid Lunch marries the two foods I lived on in college: it’s still a love affair. This? This isn’t the sandwichgasm I was hoping for. Plenty of peanut, but without the butter, & the jelly shows only as a slightly tart & acidic raspberry. Not much beer in evidence. Feels like a porter, but a small pour of this would have been plenty to sate my curiosity.
This beer does a disservice to the legendary PB&J sandwich (which I consistently review as an “A”). Decent enough, but off the mark & not what I was hoping for.

On tap at uno's, Hamilton. Really interesting. Aroma is peanuts, peanut butter. Taste gives you a burst of chocolate, coffee, nuts, then gushes late with the Jelly. Like grape and raspberry are injected into your tongue. Dark black for, tan head. Really tasty, but the pucker of the jellies catches up to you quickly. Glad I only have a 5 oz. Pour. Oh wait, I have a 22oz. Bottle at home. I'll be looking to share with a group. This is something interesting to try once in small volume."

"Cut off the crust and unwrap the flavor of this fruit centric beer. Hand crafted using real raspberries, "Liquid Lunch" Peanut Butter and Jelly Porter combines all the elements of a familiar lunchtime snack." Brewed in the style of an American Porter, available in 22 oz. bottles and on limited draft. Entry #25 in the Side Project series.
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a snifter glass.
(Appearance) Pours a crisp foamy mocha-beige head over a very dark brown body. Retention is average and lacing is light and spotty. 3.75
(Smell) An uncommon and intriguing merging of rich, bread malts, chocolate and peanuts and viscous, tangy raspberry puree. Potency is high. 3.75
(Taste) The flavor falls very much in line with the aroma of this beer, big raspberry syrups, juicy and tangy with a light coating of cocoa powder and subtle peanut flavor that generates a bit more texture than taste. Finishes moderately tart and dry with the raspberry jelly making the biggest impact on the overall flavor. 3.75
(Mouthfeel) Texture is smooth, creamy, slick, medium dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a mild frothiness and a medium crisp finish. Body is medium+ for the style, medium/heavy overall. Balance is slightly tangy and softly earthy bitter over sweet. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.5
(Overall) I figured I'd eventually be drinking peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and this one does a decent job at coming close to pulling it off. The malt choice is solid and enjoyable, creating a rich bread base for the raspberry and peanut butter to be smothered over. While I greatly enjoyed the raspberry character, which was pleasantly more tangy than syrupy and sweet, I found the peanut butter flavor underrepresented and drowned out by comparison to the raspberry, leading to this tasting more like a jelly sandwich with hints of peanut butter, maybe as a condiment, but not a feature. Overall I think I prefer this to Terrapin's year-round release Liquid Bliss, as the tang of the raspberry jelly creates an enjoyable balance to the sweeter malt tones and comes off a much more complex but enjoyable beer. Hopefully Terrapin will find a way to squeeze this into some kind of annual rotation, because even though I don't think it's perfect, it would be a very unique and tasty beer. 3.75

Smell is really spot on PB&J. The taste is far more dominated by raspberry than the peanuts but it's still really good, and one of the best beers I've ever had when it comes to tasting like some other food (Short's Carrot Cake still probably wins, but this is likely second place). I'm guessing the "artificial" flavor involved in the peanuts but because the raspberry dominates in flavor I don't actually get any artificial taste.
It's definitely not something I'd want to drink every day, but it's not one of those novelty beers I wouldn't want to try again either. Outstanding beer.

The peanut butter and jelly porter from Terrapin fell flat for me unfortunately because I love their milk stout and hopsecutioner and others. When I lived in ATL and ran a craft beer bar many many moons ago I always kept it on tape.
Anyway the artificial peanut butter taste wasn't doing it for me. Onward and upward, still expect many a good thing from a good brewery!
